From- Drafted book "Freaks"

Characters- Acid & Nex (It's time to give them some fluff instead of smut lol)

It was nearing the end of the Bizzar Freak Show Circus act, Alexis was singing as she slithered across the stage -seeing as she was a human/snake hybrid- and the live recording was almost over.

Nex walked over to Acid who was standing in the wing of the entrance as he wrapped his arms around him, not saying a word.

"Are you okay? Is something wrong? Did someone do something to you?" Acid asked as he wrapped an arm around Nex, extremely confused and concerned for his lover.

Normally Nex was over-the-top dramatic, overly energetic, and very, very loud. Seeing him be quiet and cuddled into his side when they had the potential of being caught was beyond concerning.

Nex didn't reply, instead only tightened his grip on Acid, pulling him closer as he did so.

There was a screen at the front and back of the performance arena so the people in the back of the arena could see but also so the performers could see what everyone watching the broadcast saw. It was used to help them make sure they stayed in the frame but also to let them know who was being put in the spotlight.

Neither man noticed what was happening until they heard the crowd erupt into mummers and Alexis hiss loudly.

"Why isn't the camera on me, I'm almost done with my song?!" She hissed loudly, her eyes flickering as her pupils changed to slits.

Acid looked up at the screen when he heard her comment and saw that Nex and he were the focus of the show.

"Shit." He cursed under his breath before smiling tightly at the camera, pointing over to Alexis, trying to make them look back over at her.

The camera crew complied and put the focus back onto her but kept it zoomed out enough that you could still see the couple in the background.

Alexis finished her song, adding extra dramatics to her voice as she did so, trying to get people to talk about how amazing she is instead of what was happening with the forbidden couple behind her.

"Come on Love, let's go back here for a minute." Acid whispered to Nex before he guided him backstage so the cameras couldn't see them anymore.

"Flora, you're up next, do a duet with Alexis and then a solo song please." Acid said as he walked past the wolf/human hybrid.

She nodded her head before going over to wait where they had just been standing as Acid and Nex left for an empty dressing room.

"What's wrong my Love?" Acid asked as soon as he shut and locked the door.

"I feel dizzy, my head hurts and I feel lightheaded but I don't know why," Nex said as a tear fell from his eye while he cuddled more into the crook of Acid's neck.

"Have you been drinking enough water?" Acid asked as he let out a silent breath of relief, happy that it wasn't anything too serious. He honestly would have fussed at Nex for being so dramatic over a headache and getting them caught on live t.v. over it but decided not to after seeing how upset Nex actually was over it.

"I'm a demon, I don't have to drink water," Nex answered as he wrapped his arms around Acid's torso tightly, his eyes closing in hopes to make the world stop spinning around him.

"When we get home I'm getting you some water, I don't care if you're a demon or not, you need water." Acid said as he sat down on a chair, pulling Nex down on his lap as he did so.

He wrapped his arms around Nex's back and pulled him close, allowing Nex to relax against him as he held him in a comforting embrace.

Nex listened to Acid's heartbeat and breathing, using that and the embrace to help ground himself.

"Thank you," Nex mumbled against Acid's neck as he wrapped his arms tightly around his upper back.

"Of course Love, you always come first when it comes to stuff like this." Acid replied before hearing "Flora's solo is almost done Ring Master, do you want us to put on another act or are you going to come close to the show?" over the headset.

"I can come close the show." Acid answered before muting his headset again.

"Come on baby, we have to tell everyone goodnight and make them leave so we can put everything up and I can take proper care of you." Acid said to Nex as he picked him up before he carried him out of the room and onto stage kola style.

Mummers and questions rang through the arena when they saw that Nex was now on Acid's side rather than just side-hugging him like he was before but they were cut off by Acid.

"Thank you, everyone, for showing up tonight and supporting our show! I hope you enjoyed all of the amazing performances we showed you tonight and that you will come to see some of our other shows in the future! For tonight, I bid you goodnight!" he said with a large fake smile to the crowd before bowing as best as he could with Nex in his arms.

The crowd cheered loudly before they began to leave making Nex flinch at the noise. The 'Freaks' began to clean up the area and take down what wasn't going to be used for tomorrow's show.

"You go and take care of Nex, we have it taken care of here," Flora told Acid with a kind smile.

"Alright, thank you all. I want all of you to order your favorite dinners from wherever that delivers and put it on my card." He said before pulling his card out and giving it to her.

"Thank you, Master." She said with another smile before going off to ask people what they wanted to eat as everyone continued to clean the arena.

After that, Acid carried Nex to his car, putting him in the passenger seat before driving them back home.

Nex stayed quiet and played with Acid's free hand as they drove, the music playing quietly in the background.

Once they got there Acid quickly parked before helping Nex out of the car and carrying him into the kitchen.

"Here, drink this." He said as he handed him a water bottle from the fridge.

Nex took it with a sigh before he drank the bottle in three large gulps.

"Feel any better?" Acid asked as he recycled the empty bottle before carrying Nex to his bedroom.

"A little," Nex answered before nuzzling his head back into the crook of Acid's neck.

"That's good." Acid hummed before taking their shoes off and laying them down in his bed.

Nex moved so he was laying on top of Acid, their legs tangled together and his head laying against his chest.

"Thank you for taking care of me. I'm sorry I got us caught." Nex whispered, his voice muffled by Acid's shirt.

"It's okay Love, they probably just think I take good care of you all. Even if they do think that we're together then so what? We are so they just think the truth if so." Acid comforted as he ran a hand through Nex's soft hair.

"But it's against the rules of your show..." Nex trailed off, trying his best to stay awake though it was very hard considering how comfortable and warm Acid's embrace was.

"Yes it is but I don't care, some rules are made to be broken. Now go to sleep Love, we can talk more when you wake up." Acid said before kissing the top of Nex's head.

Nex hummed in acknowledgment before allowing his body to succumb to slumber.

Acid stayed awake until he heard everyone else coming home and there was a gentle knock on his door.

He said a quiet "Come in" and saw Flora walk in quietly.

"Everyone is back and has had dinner, the arena is clean now and everyone is going back downstairs to their cages now." She said quietly when she noticed Nex was asleep.

"Thank you very much, sleep well." He whispered getting a small smile and nodding back before she left the room.

Now knowing that everyone was home safe, Acid let himself fall asleep knowing that tomorrow he would have to deal with a lot of media questioning himself and Nex.

He didn't worry about it though because that is the future and he loves what's happening in the present.
