Edward Scissorhands x Reader

As I type this  I don't know if I want this to be serious or not...Oh god.

You look up at the abandoned crumbling castle in front of you. Hedges of various shapes surrounded the premise, and as you got closer, you began to make out some of them:  a dinosaur, a moose...a hand? What was all of this? A chilled gust of wind brushes past you, beckoning you to turn away and never come back, but you persisted forward.

As you made your way into the abandoned castle, you turned your hot sexy scene music (6arelyhuman) down a few notches. You surveyed the area and discovered a peaceful mildly worn-down couch, plopping down on it. It hurt your back a little, but it would work. You pulled out your laptop from your backpack and sighed in relief. Finally, a quiet place to write without being bothered.

A few hours had passed before you felt satisfied with your productivity levels. Stretching out on the couch, you were extremely grateful that no aroused teenagers or police had decided to also stop by. You figured that since the fortress was truly abandoned, you could lay down and take a quick nap. Basking in the comforting silence, you curled up and closed your eyes, exhaling softly. You felt yourself drifting off to sleep, until all of a sudden you felt somebody watching you.

You slowly opened your eyes and were met with a ghost of a man. Letting out a gasp, you sat up in terror, unable to fully process what was in front of you. A disheveled pale being with scissors for hands stood in front of you with a blank stare.

"W-Who are you?" You demanded, putting your hands up in self defense.

His face remained still and said in a monotone voice, "Edward."

"And...what are you doing?" You couldn't keep your eyes off of his hands, although you knew it was rather rude to do so.

"I live here."

You felt a bit more of your composure come back and took a deep breath. "You live...here?" You asked, gesturing to the area around you.

"Yes."

"Oh...I'm sorry for intruding." You weren't sure what else to follow up with, and an awkward silence ensued.

After darting your eyes around a couple of times, your stomach growled loudly.

"Hungry?" He asked.

"Ah, yeah." You fished out a granola bar from your backpack and scooted over on the couch to make room for him. "Do you want some?"

"I've never had that before." He sat next to you, eyeing the snack curiously.

"You've never had a granola bar before?" Slightly shocked, you broke apart half for him, handing it over.

He took a small bite, and you noticed his eyes light up a little. "No, I haven't."

"Is it good?" You asked, putting the granola bar in your mouth.

"Yes..." He responded quietly.

You peered over at his pale face and sunken eyes. "Why are you...here?"

He looked around as if thinking of a response, before saying, "I don't know."

"You don't know?"

"Yes."

"Ah. Well, do you like it here?"

"It's fine."

Wow, this guy really isn't much of a conversationalist. You thought to yourself.

As you finished up your granola bar, you stood up and dusted off your hands. "I suppose I should head out now. I'm sorry for coming in here, I really thought nobody lived here."

He stayed silent as you made your way to the door. You turned back and although he didn't say anything, you felt as if he was about to.

"What's up? Are you okay?" You asked.

"The granola bar was good."

You chuckled awkwardly. "I'm glad you think so."

He looked down at the floor. "Do you have any more?"

"No, I'm sorry." You rubbed the back of your neck sheepishly. "I can come back with more tomorrow, though."

A faint smile appeared on his face. "Okay."

From that day forward, you visited Edward almost daily, showing him many things from your life. Whether it be your laptop, different snacks, or even your clothes, he always seemed to be fascinated with whatever you could show him.

One day, you noticed him continously glancing at your earbuds. You took out the earbuds that were blasting beautiful ambient lofi. "Do you know what these are?"

"No." He said, seeming slightly embarrassed.

You giggled and handed your earbuds over to him. "They play music." You paused for a moment. "You have listened to music before, right?"

"Once or twice."

"Okay, good." You said, slightly relieved. "Just put them in your ears." As he was about to, you made sure to turn your fire music down so that his eardrums wouldn't be blasted to oblivion.

He didn't say anything until a few tracks played. "I like this." He said with a nod, concentrated on the music.

You felt an overwhelming amount of joy flow over you as he complimented your music taste. "I'm glad." You took a bit to compose yourself before saying, "There's so many different genres. Do you remember what you've listened to before?"

"It had...violins? Piano, too."

"Oh! Classical. Here, I'll put some on."

Immediately as the music began, you noticed his eyes grow slightly distant. Tears began to well up in his eyes, and you grew concerned. You pressed pause and moved a little closer to him. "Are you okay?"

He sniffed and gently took your phone, pressing play after a few tries. "I am. It..." He searched for the words. "It takes me back to better times. Thank you, (Y/N)."

You smiled and nodded, typing away on your laptop as he swayed happily to the music.

A few weeks later, Edward began to show you some of his many talents. He brought you out to the courtyard and walked over to an ordinary looking hedge. He inhaled deeply before beginning to masterfully snip at it with his hands. Soon enough, an elephant emerged from the plant. You felt admiration flow through your body, a grin forming on your face. "Wow Edward...this is beautiful."

A soft blush grew on his face as he nodded and scurried back into the house.

A few days had passed, and you noticed yourself in need of a haircut. However, before going to the salon, you decided to stop by at the castle that you had grown to love.

As you stepped inside, a wave of serenity rushed over you and you smiled. Shortly afterwards, Edward walked out and greeted you. You were growing accustomed to this pattern, and briefly wondered what your life had been like without him.

"I'm going to get my haircut in a few hours, but I had some leftover banana bread that I made last night. Do you want some?"

"Yes, please."

The two of you enjoyed the banana bread in a comfortable silence, and as Edward complimented your baking, you felt a tiny sense of pride wash over you.

You looked down and checked your phone. "Looks like the salon will be closing soon, I better get going then. See you tomorrow?"

"Wait."

"Huh? Why?"

He looked to the side, avoiding eye contact. "I could cut it for you. If you want."

You thought it over for a bit and after remembering how skilled he was with the topiaries, you decided that he could. He brought you over a chair and set a blanket over you.

"I'll be gentle." He said and began cutting your hair after you told him the style you were looking for.

In a rather timely manner, Edward was done and to your surprise, your hair looked better than it ever had before. You beamed at him. "Wow, this is great!"

"You..look great." He mumbled under his breath.

You blushed. "What was that?"

"Nothing."

By the time Christmas was rolling around, you had known Edward for a couple months now and felt closer to him than you had with anybody else prior. Being near him created a complete sense of contentedness that you couldn't get enough of.

You were sitting next to him, reading a book with classical music playing softly in the background. You attractively dog-eared your page and set the book down. "Edward, do you want anything for Christmas?"

"I'm not sure. I don't think so." He waited a bit before asking, "What about you?"

You shrugged. "Am I allowed to say that all I really want it to spend more time with you?"

"Y-You are allowed." He messed around with his hands nervously.

You giggled and returned to your book, wondering what to get him.

On Christmas day, you made sure to get up bright and early, heading to Edward's castle with his presents in hand.

As you cheerfully walked in, you heard him shout, "I'm not done yet!"

You were slightly taken aback by his shouting, but responded with an, "Okay!" and sat down, waiting for him.

You heard strange scraping noises, but decided not to think too much about it.

Soon enough, he was done and returned to you. "Merry Christmas." He said, eyeing the wrapped presents you brought him. "What's in there?"

"See for yourself!" You had unnecesarily wrapped all the presents, hoping that it would be fun for him to open. Lucky for you, he did seem to be having quite a blast opening them.

As he opened his first present, you noticed him go very quiet. "I-It's a portable radio, y'know so you can listen to music anytime you want! I put some classical tracks in there, but I can always get you some more." You nervously explained, hoping that he liked it.

You squeezed as he gently embraced you. "I love it. Thank you." You hugged him back, feeling relieved.

Although the portable radio was the main surprise, he seemed rather happy about the Christmas cookies you had made him alongside some miniature houseplants to brighten up the castle.

"I made you something, too..."

"Oh really? What is it?"

"Follow me." He said, leading you outside to three large ice sculptures. One that depicted some of your favorite game characters, another of your favorite animal, and the last being you and Edward together.

You remained speechless, trying to gather your thoughts together. Nobody had ever gifted you something this personal in your life, and you couldn't stop yourself from smiling. Just as he had, you hugged him. "These are beautiful, Edward! Thank you so much!"

The rest of the day was spent cuddling by the fireplace solely 'for warmth', eating your Christmas cookies and listening to music.

"Edward, I have an idea." You said to him out of the blue.

"Yes?"

"I should take you out of the castle! We could go exploring!"

"I...don't remember leaving this castle before."

"That's okay! How about we go now? I'll be right there with you if you ever need anything." Just as you said that, thoughts of curious townschildren and bewildered housewives filled your mind. "Actually...on second thought, how about tonight instead? I can show you my house."

"Okay. Let's do that then." He said, continuing to trim the hedges into an octopus.

After some time, the sun had set and the two of you were ready to head out to town. Fortunately, no nosy townspeople were out and about. Dealing with that could be put off for another time. You unlocked the door to your house and led Edward inside of your home.

"Sorry, I know it isn't as big as your place." You said jokingly.

After receiving a tour around your home, Edward quietly said, "It's like you."

You laughed a little. "Is that a good or bad thing?"

"Good. Really good."

The two of you stood awkwardly in your living room, not saying anything until you decided to break the silence. "Do you want to sit outside for a bit? The weather is nice out tonight."

"Alright."

"Can you get some blankets for me? They're in my closet over there. I just have to go to the bathroom really quick." He nodded in response.

When you came back, you giggled as you saw Edward in one of your jackets.

"Is it okay?"

"It's more than okay!" You smiled at him. "It's cute!"

"Cute?"

You stuttered nervously (Fanatic). "Y-Yeah..."

"You're cute, too." He said, before opening the door and heading outside with the blankets.

You followed him out and set a blanket on the grass, laying down. He laid down next to you and draped another blanket over both of your bodies.

Nobody spoke a word, and you could only hear his soft breathing accompanying yours. He wrapped you up in his arms, careful not to hurt you. You nuzzled into his chest.

"Thank you for coming into my life." He said softly, looking up at the stars and bringing you a little closer.

You brought his face into your hands and leaned in a little closer, taking in all of his features. "Thank you as well." You carressed his cheeks with your thumbs. He closed the distance and kissed you gently.

"I love you, (Y/N)."
