Office Chairs (L x Reader)
(A/N- Picture does not belong to me!)
L's gray orbs stared unblinking, concentrating on the content of the screen. His head remained locked in place, even as he moved a bite of cake to his mouth. His usual scrunched up position looked strange to normal people, but after trying it out for yourself, you had to agree with him. It was rather comfortable.
You casually spun around in your seat. No evidence to learn Kira's identity had been discovered recently, and your boredom was starting to get the better of you. You wanted to spend time with L (probably because you LIKED him), but your mind was being a butt and was not willing to stay in one place at the moment. You continued spinning around, focusing unintentionally on L's stoic expression from the side.
L suddenly turned in your direction, catching you staring. You jerked your gaze away, feeling yourself blush. You swore you heard him chuckle a bit.
"(Y/n), if you don't want to stay you don't have to. Go take a break or something."
You turned back towards him, denying his request.
"N-no, I want to stay." You knew you were being extremely obvious about your true feelings, but quickly recovered by thinking of a way to fix it. "I just think you should take a break. You've been investing nonstop, and your mental state is probably suffering from it."
You weren't lying. L's baggy eyes were normal, but a cognitive break would help any normal person function with a higher rate of success.
"I assure you, I'm fine. We just need to look at the clues closer." L swiveled back around to his previous position, staring once again at the screen.
Suddenly an idea popped into your head. It was perfect! It would both cure your boredom, and force L to take a break from work.
You hastily stood from your seat, walking over behind L's office chair. You swiveled it ninety degrees to the right and started pushing it towards the hallway. L simply sighed.
"(Y/n), what are you doing?" His monotone voice questioned.
You continued pushing him into the hallway.
"I'm giving you a break from work, whether you want one or not. There's no way you can be thinking clearly right now. Constant work is only going to create more work later when something goes wrong because of it."
Although you had a somewhat short attention span, you were still on the task force for a reason. You were indeed quite smart, and were good at making quick decisive judgments, but you preferred to work alone usually. Unfortunately, the only way you were going to catch Kira was as a team.
L hummed a bit, before at last agreeing, "You're probably right. The mind wasn't meant for nonstop work. Good thinking (Y/n)."
You felt your face burn at L's compliment, looking down as you continued pushing the chair into the hallway. It wasn't usual for L to give compliments, so it was indeed a good decision.
There was a wheel chair ramp further down the hall, and you stopped just short of its peak.
"Here we are!" You declared.
"You're going to push me down a wheel chair ramp on an office chair?" L asked.
"Yes." L turned and stared at you with the same stoic expression. "I never said it was necessarily a GOOD idea. Don't worry, it's fun. I used to do it all the time."
He simply shrugged, then added, "Go ahead."
You smiled, then pushed the chair over the edge, running behind it as it rolled. You watch L's face carefully.
It held the same stoic expression, but he let out a flat, monotoned, "Wheeeeeeeeeee."
You had a hard time not laughing out loud. You had not expected any noise from L, especially not 'wheeee'. Since the expression usually had some excitement to it, it was hilarious to hear it otherwise.
When you got to the bottom of ramp, you were grinning (and still trying to not laugh).
L turned around with the same blank expression as before, but then he did something unexpected. He smiled.
"You were right, that was rather entertaining."
It took all your restraint not to hug or kiss him right there. He looked way too adorable when he smiled. You blanked out staring at his cute face, when his expression changed, and his voice finally cut into your thoughts.
"-/n)? (Y/n)?"
You jolted to attention. "Y-yeah?"
He chuckled slightly. "I asked if you wanted to go, and said that I'd push you instead."
"O-oh. Yeah!" You blushed again when you realized this was the second time today he had caught you staring.
L stood up from the chair, and the both of you easily pushed it back up the ramp. As you two reached the top, he gestured for you to sit down. You happily obliged, unintentionally mimicking L's signature sitting style. Once again, L chuckled lightly, and you looked at him questioningly.
"Why do you keep chuckling at me?" You questioned.
"No reason," He replied flatly.
You gripped onto the chair as L pushed the back of the seat. The chair slowly started rolling forward, and you gripped the sides of the chair in anticipation. You started screaming a little from a combination of excitement and fear.
At about the midway point of the ramp, you saw Misa and Light turn the corner into the hall. They had absolutely no idea what was going on, and froze at the end of the hall.
You reached the end of the hallway with L right behind you. Light gave you a puzzled expression.
"What are you two doing?" He asked, confused.
You felt your face heat up a few degrees in temperature. 'Wait, WHY THE HECK AM I BLUSHING!?' You thought to yourself. 'It's not like we've been kissing or anything.'
L's monotone voice answered the question, "We're taking a break to clear our heads."
Misa suddenly gasped, then screamed at the top of her lungs, "THEY'RE DATING!!!"
This only made your blush deeper. You tried to stop her shouting, but her voice was a lot louder than yours.
"Misa, calm-"
"(Y/n) and L are dating! (Y/n) and L are dating!" Misa sang and skipped around the room.
"Misa," Light chimed in.
Misa immediately stopped in her chanting. "Yes Light?"
"What do you need to calm down?" Light asked calmly.
You sighed, thankful Light had shut her up. You noticed a water bottle someone had left in the hall. You suddenly realized you were thirsty, and walked towards it . Picking it up, and not caring who the previous owner was, you started taking a sip.
"I NEED TO SEE THEM KISS!" Misa shouted. (A/N- Shippers in a nutshell. MY PEOPLE!)
You choked on your water, and started coughing like a leper. You were already blushing, and you didn't think it was possible for your face to blush a darker shade.
You glanced toward the three of them, giving Misa a death glare. Then you looked towards L, and you noticed another strange thing. L was grinning. No, he was smirking.
'HE KNOWS!' You panicked inwardly. You guessed he had known the entire time. He nonchalantly walked over towards you.
You were completely frozen in place. 'What's happening?' You wondered.
L leaned forward slightly and kissed you on the lips. It was just a quick peck, but it was still a kiss!
It felt like fireworks were exploding in your brain. L had kissed you. L. HAD. KISSED. YOU. You were fangirl-screaming internally.
L turned towards Misa, staring directly at her. "Now shut up." With one arm he grabbed your hand , and the office chair with the other, dragging both back up the ramp and into the room you had previously been in. He sat you down in the chair you had last been sitting in, then sat back down in his own.
You were still too stunned to move or speak. You just sat there, still frozen.
"By the way (Y/n)," L finally spoke. "You're cute when you blush. If you want to be dating for real, I'd be okay with that." He swiveled to look back at the screen, continuing his work.
You blinked, recovering control of your body. Grinning, you replied, "I'd like that."
(A/N- I have no idea if I like how this one turned out or not. Oh well.
If you have any characters you want, suggest them in the comments, and maybe I'll do them!)
