You looked down at the small black kitten as it chased its tail, running around in a circle. Your feather duster was barely reaching where it need to as you went about your chores.
"I get the feeling I'm gonna regret letting you in the house," you said, looking at the feline out of the corner of your eye.
It simply looked up at you and meowed.
"You're lucky you're so cute. And you're lucky I found you before Pluto did," you gave it a look. The kitten simply proceeded to chase its own tail.
You finished dusting and stepped down from the step ladder that you had used to reach the high areas. You weren't exactly known for 'tall stature.' You set the duster down and carefully picked the kitten up.
"Now I just need somewhere to hide you. Master Ciel probably won't let you stay, but you'll have to until we can at least find you a good home." The cat's sandpaper tongue licked your hand, and you giggled at the sensation.
"Miss (Y/n)!" You heard Mey Rin call from near the end of the hallway. You scrambled to hide the cat in a safe place, which ended up being under the bonnet of your maid outfit.
"There you are! Mr.Sebastian was looking for you," the red-headed maid said after she turned the corner. You were hastily adjusting your bonnet.
"W-why was he looking for me?"
"No idea, but you can never tell with him," she said. You felt the cat in your hat shift slightly, trying to get comfortable. Mey Rin stood there giving you a curious look for a few seconds. Her bad eyesight appeared to have made her oblivious to the struggle.
"Don't you have other chores to do?" You asked her, hoping she would leave so you could let the struggling animal run free.
"Oh right! I forgot I need to clean the china!" She cried, running back down the hall.
You waited a few seconds then took the hat off of your head, the furry animal still inside it.
"Are you trying to get caught?" You asked the black bundle of fur. It look at you for a few seconds, then got distracted by the sunbeams on the floor behind you.
"This is never gonna work," you groaned.
Suddenly, you heard footsteps echoing through the hallway, coming closer and closer. You stuffed the kitten back in your head covering and fumbled to re-cover your (h/l) (h/c) locks with the white fabric. You got it eventually, but it was, unfortunately, crooked.
A tall, black haired, red eyed butler walked around the corner and made a bee-line for you. He stopped a few inches in front of you, looking down into your (e/c) orbs.
"May I ask what you are doing standing in the middle of the hall?" Sebastian asked, a stoic expression giving away nothing.
"I-I was dusting. O-one of my chores, sir."
"And why is your bonnet all crooked?"
"Is it now?" You chuckled nervously, attempting to fix it.
The kitten under your hat didn't appreciate the gesture, and immediately began squirming under your hand.
"Y-yes, I suppose it is crooked. Allow me to go fix it in front of the mirror," you turned to rush away from the scene, desperate to not be discovered.
"As you wish, but one more question," Sebastian grabbed your hand before you could get any further. With a swift motion, he turned you back towards him and pulled you close. His mouth was right beside your ear, and you inadvertently blushed. In a quiet yet serious voice, he asked his question.
"Why is there a feline on your head?"
'Busted!' You thought. It didn't surprise you that Sebastian had caught you, but you had to at least try.
"I-I, it was, the cat was just, it looked so helpless, and with Pluto around, I couldn't just leave it outside!" You stumbled over your words, trying unsuccessfully to explain yourself.
"I see," Sebastian stood back up straight.
"You're not going to let Pluto get her, are you?" You looked worriedly at him.
Sebastian's black hair swished in front of his eyes as he stared down at you. He held out his hand and gently took the bonnet from your head, revealing the small kitten. The kitten looked up at him, before letting out a little squeak of a meow. It would have easily made you say 'aww' if you hadn't been standing terrified of the dark butler in front of you.
"I am required to follow master Ciel's orders. He would not approve of having a kitten at the mansion," he told you. You looked down at the ground sadly, now fearing for the kitten's safety.
"However," he continued. You looked back up hopefully.
"If master Ciel didn't know about the kitten, and his butler didn't inform him of it, I would say there's no problem with it staying. As long as it's well hidden."
A smile quickly spread across your face, and you did something you normally wouldn't do. You hugged him around his waist, seeing that it would be rather difficult to hug his shoulders.
"Thank you thank you thank you thank you!"
"Just keep it out of sight. I would very much appreciate a cat in the household, but it needs to remain unknown," he ordered.
"I promise I will keep it hidden! Thank you so much!" You released him, before jumping up and giving him a peck on the cheek. You ran off to go put the kitten in a secure place, face tinted a dark pink color.
Sebastian remained still for a few seconds, surprised anyone would have the courage to peck him on the cheek as you just did, before he simply smirked and returned to his duties.
"(Y/n) (L/n), what a strange girl."

(A/N- I FINALLY WROTE SOMETHING NOT ALPHONSE RELATED! YOU'RE WELCOME FANGIRLS OF SEBY-CHAN! I'll forever refer to him as Seby-chan after a roleplay I had with my friend where Sebastian was wearing a fluffy bunny suit. Maybe I'll even write that other Attack on Titan x reader I had the idea for!
