Chapter 5: Only Open for Insomniacs and Workaholics
+++++ 5 years later (A/N) There is the big time skip I may or may not have warned you about
Chan smiled slightly as he landed back home. He had made his career in music and he was now working with seven other boys. Everyone was really excited to see his hometown and the house that his family still lived in.
He led everybody through the streets of his town before arriving at his parent's house. He knocked on the door and his mom opened it. Hugs were exchanged all around and plans were made. Chan mostly just smiled and made sure nobody broke anything. He wasn't really talkative.
They spent the day unpacking and picking rooms. His mom made an amazing dinner that everyone enjoyed. They watched a movie and headed up to bed. Everyone fell asleep pretty quickly after their long flight from Korea. Everyone except for Chan.
Chan stared up at his ceiling. It brought back so many memories of being bored and feeling useless, but it also brought back memories of her. He almost never talked about her. The only people he told were his mother and Felix. He didn't like remembering her either. He never walked around at night because it reminded him of all the nights he would walk around with her and just talk, but he wanted to do something tonight.
Chan made up his mind. The tree was still outside his bedroom window. He threw on a jacket and some shoes and went to check on Jeongin who was sleeping in his room with him. After making sure the youngest was asleep, he climbed out the window.
His boots landed with a soft Thump when he hit the ground. It really wasn't getting any easier to climb out that small window. His shoulders definitely used to be much narrower. He started walking down the street.
His mind was preoccupied with memories, so his feet took over. He didn't even realize where he was until he recognized the faded lettering on the windows. He was back at the Luna Café. Back where everything started. Chan sighed as he remembered the nights he would wait for Astra to finish her shift so they could walk around. Sometimes he wished that he had never gone to that coffee shop, then the other part of him would slap some sense into the first part. Even if it turned out badly, he wouldn't trade the memories for anything.
He turned away from the café and wandered towards the other side of town. There were a lot less lights and people this way. It was quieter too. Chan looked up and saw the stars. Millions of them scattered across the sky. Astra used to drag him out to that tree near the cliff and lay on the ground. She would point out constellations and planets. She always looked at them like they were the map through life. If she followed them, they would guide her to a better world.
Chan smiled up at the stars. He hoped that they had guided her to a happy life. He glanced to his left and did a double take. There was a small café at the corner of the road that he had never seen before. Sentinel Café. He walked closer. The hours were 11:00PM to 4:00AM every day except for Sunday.
Weird...
He pushed open the door. A sound like wind chimes echoed through the café. There wasn't anybody there except for a woman in her early twenties drying a mug behind the counter. She turned around and Chan's heart almost stopped.
"Welcome to Sentinel Café. Open only for the insomniacs and workaholics." The woman said cheerfully. She looked up and almost dropped her mug.
"Astra?"
