Chapter 20

Wonho

I went ahead and spent my day seeking for a local shaman.

Somewhere in the less populated areas of town, there are still practitioners of such tradition.

I've heard of one special name repeated across the place, and I ought to visit her.

Kim Misang. A powerful shaman she is.

As soon as I have finally completed the search, I stood by the outside of her house to wait for her to come.

I scanned my eyes around the place in detail, and there, I found an old woman around her 70s, sweeping leaves away from her shelter.

Suddenly, I felt her slow down as her body began to tense up.

"I've been living in peace for the past 20 years. What brought you here to bother me?" She spoke in a deep voice.

I simply smirked. She didn't have to look at me to be able to tell how I was around.

"Come out. I can tell you're there, and your presence is not very good." She ordered.

I went out into the open and slowly made my way right in front of her.

"Is there anything you need?" She asked, more like in a demanding tone.

"I didn't come to bother you. No one sent me. I just need answers, and I'll leave you alone." I negotiated.

She looked right through me sternly as if trying to pierce a hole with her stare.

"Go ahead and tell quickly." She dropped her broom down and brought me along inside her house.

By the time we were inside, she then sat down and had a square wooden table right in front of her. I noticed how there were a lot of equipments and items surrounding her which she probably used for such practice.

I refused to come near, and I stood at a distance right in front of her.

"I like a girl. I've been coming in and out from a human body to be with her, and to manifest myself in a physical form." I started.

"Which human body? Is it dead or alive?" She spoke.

"Alive." I answered.

Suddenly, the look on her face worsened with horror.

"Goodness. You shouldn't meddle like that. What are your relations with the human you are using?" She questioned.

"That's where the problem lies. He's a good friend to me, yet I sooner found out that he holds a special place in her heart for long now. They had a special bond, and I just want to get rid of that. I wanna be sufficient for the girl I love." I said.

"There are consequences to your actions. Do you think she will still love you, if you certainly do? She will be disgusted. You will be a disgrace. Don't stay in his body longer that five days. You are putting his soul out of it's place." She reprimanded.

"And what will happen to him?" I asked.

"He won't be able to escape. He will be stuck forever, while you won't be able to get out from his body. It's a curse." She warned.

"In simple words, I get to replace him." I smirked.

"Try it if you dare. Your soul will perish the moment his body expires." She glared.

"How can you tell me that now!! I can feel it. I know it. She's starting to like him and I can't let that happen! I really do love her, I do." I raised my voice and felt my appearance changing into something hideous.

Despite my form changing, she still wasn't shaking by what she was witnessing.

"Then you should leave that alone to happen. That shows how she wasn't meant for you in the first place. Your purpose here is to learn how to love. You claim to love her, but I'm quite unsure you do know how. Stop controlling her like you did before." She spoke.

"Like I did before...?" I was struck by her last sentence.

"It's part of your past, young man. Such a sick creature you are. Get out!" She yelled and threw some substance at me.

Immediately, I started to shout in pain as I felt my skin burn until I was transported out from her house like thin air...

Call me stubborn, but I got what I needed.

She gave it away without thinking.

"Powerful, but foolish. What a stupid shaman." I laughed.

That's it. I'm gonna have to stay in Hyungwon's body for about 5 days.

Soon, I'll have Haneul all to myself now.

Hyungwon

I slowly went out of school feeling disappointed because I had extra load of work to do for our research paper. Because I was busy, I thought that today wasn't the time to relax or to go out and see Haneul.

"Hyungwon-ah! Hey pal, how are you?" Someone suddenly stopped me in my tracks with a greeting.

I looked up and saw Wonho hyung's smiling face.

"Oh, hyung? I didn't notice you there at all. I guess.. I'm a bit preoccupied today." I scratched my head.

"What's that troubled look on your face?" He asked.

"Nothing much, I was just working on our research paper. I thought it was going to be done but we messed up the editing and now I have to redo every chapter." I sighed deeply.

"That sucks. You know what, get your mind off that first and relax. Go back to work after an hour where you've calmed down." He advised.

"I guess that could work. I'm just worried." I said.

A moment of silence came between the both of us until Wonho hyung stopped beating around the bush and spoke up.

"Sooo, may I borrow your body for a while?" He asked seriously. I could see the need in hyung's eyes which was different from before.

"Wait-- Now? Hyung, I told you I was busy." I had a sorry look on my face.

"Hyungwon-ah it'll be quick. Trust me. I'll bring your body home. I won't leave it outside Haneul's house tonight, I promise." He persuaded.

I contemplated for a moment but then released a deep sigh of defeat.

"Fine. Just promise me you'll give it back after an hour. I need more time to get these done, hyung. Please don't get my body too tired as well." I had no choice but to give in.

I was just bad at saying no and resisting Wonho hyung.

"Sure... why not?" He smirked.

"Alright, enjoy the hour well and wisely hyung! Don't take too long!" I reminded.

"Oh, I'll enjoy it very well."
He smiled as he slowly took over me.

Haneul

I opened the door to my house after successfully getting home from school. I turned on the lights and headed for the kitchen.

"Omo--" I stepped back after getting startled at what view greeted me.

Hearing my voice, the person inside the kitchen slowly turned back to see me.

As soon as the familiar figure moved to face me, it flashed a small smile on its face.

"H-Hyungwon-ah! What are you doing in my house?" I slightly panicked.

"Welcome home. Look, I prepared some sandwiches for the both of us." He calmly answered.

I slowly went closer to the kitchen counters to look at the sandwiches on the plate. They were nicely prepared by him. Slowly, I felt his presence coming near in front of me.

I straightened up my posture and looked up to meet his face. Suddenly, I realized what was wrong.

"What do you see?" He slightly smiled as if challenging me to speak up.

"Hyungwon... y-you're not Hyungwon." I answered.

He continued to stare into my eyes as if trying to interpret the emotions I had.

"Wonho, why didn't you tell me sooner?" I breathed out a sigh of 'relief'.

"Why don't you look so happy to see me?" He gazed into my face as he asked.

"No, it's not like that. I was just rather scared to see Hyungwon. I mean, Hyungwon's figure." I replied.

"I'm not convinced at all." He lightly said, almost in a whisper.

I felt my facial expressions change as I got confused by Wonho's sudden remark.

"Hm. Just kidding you." He softly spoke, seeing the nervous look I probably had on my face by then.

I released an insincere chuckle with an attempt to lighten up the mood after I was taken aback. I looked around the kitchen avoiding his gaze, not knowing what else to do.

"So, what should we do tonight?" He suggested.

"Wonho, I'm not in the mood right now. I need to get things done and I'm pretty sure Hyungwon does too. Just give his body back, we could spend some time together next time." I said.

Wonho never took his gaze off that I already began to see the disappointed look in his eyes.

"I knew you weren't happy to see me. Why would you be so concerned about what Hyungwon has to do, Haneul? He already said it was okay. If it weren't, why else would I be here?!" I felt Wonho trying to control his temper despite the growl in his voice.

"Please! Don't try to pick a fight over this. I'm not displaying any concern." I shook my head and hung it low.

"Well, you're not acting the part. It seems like you care more about the actual Hyungwon than myself now." He spoke with a hint of betrayal in his tone.

I only looked at up him without saying any word. If I did, our argument might turn into a fight which I didn't want to happen soon tonight.

"Are you mad? Because you told me not to use him anymore, but then I did? What do you want me to do?!" He was slowly raging at me.

"Go home. Take Hyungwon's body home." I spoke calmly but made sure I emphasized what was needed to be done.

Wonho rolled his eyes and stormed out of the kitchen heading towards the door leading outside my house.

"Sure, I'm taking this body home but I am never getting out of here.
