Chapter 18

Haneul

Hyungwon and I successfully brought the little girl back right after we found her mom come back to the same spot in which we were to fetch her child.

Thankfully, we were able to make sure it was really the child's mother because of Hyungwon's meticulous and guarded nature. The child stopped crying during the time that we both played with her, and we were glad to be able to bring her back safely.

To spend the rest of our time together, Hyungwon and I were now walking around the beach together while enjoying the peaceful vibe and mesmerizing view that surrounded us.

"You... you're really good with kids are you?" Hyungwon hesitated but eventually threw the question he had.

I turned my head to look at him by my side, and found him shyly smiling at me.

"How could you say that when she was obviously only listening to you more than she did for me?" I teased him which made him release a chuckle.

"Well, our team work was still great though." He stated.

"Yeah sure, handsome oppa." I rolled my eyes at him jokingly.

"Hey, you don't really know this but she told me you were a pretty unnie, too!" He brought up.

"Stop making up stuff, Hyungwon. Just admit the fact that you have a really good-looking face." I smirked at him.

"I'm not! You were busy picking up shells for her when she told me that. She even told me that.. w-we look good together..." Hyungwon argued but lowered his voice during his last statement.

"What did you say?" I asked him, but I heard it clear.

"Nothing. How about we get some corndogs too, and go back after a while?" Hyungwon said.

"Ah right! Wonho might be looking around for me soon already, so let's get back soon." I immediately remembered.

"Oh... That's true." Hyungwon gave me a small nod.

Hyungwon drove me back home safely. We went out of the car together after he had succesfully parked it in my house.

"Well, goodbye for today. Time passed by quickly and it's getting nearer to evening. You should go in." He said.

"Okay. Take care, alright? Make sure you ride the bus home safely, too!" I gave him a reminder.

"Oh, haha. Thanks for caring about that! Good bye!" Hyungwon smiled and started walking away.

As soon as I had seen him already far away from a distance, I opened the door and went in my house.

Surprisingly, I found Wonho's figure sitting on the couch. He was possibly waiting for me to come back home all this time.

"Where were you?" He asked but I heard a slight roughness in his voice. It was almost as if he growled his words.

"I--"

Before I could even speak, I received a message on my phone which interrupted me.

I checked to see the message, and found out that it was from Hyungwon.

Hyungwon:

I hope you sleep well tonight! Have a good night~! :)

"How did he get my number?" I quietly wondered.

"You were saying?" Wonho suddenly snapped me out of my unnecessary thoughts.

I quickly looked up at him, and slid my phone back into my bag.

"Are you cheating on me?" He asked.

"Wonho, how could you possibly think of me like that?" I grew surprised at the direct question he threw at me.

For a moment, I felt hurt that he thought of me as someone who could do that to him, but I then remembered how much of a hypocrite I would be if I think I have the whole right to be offended.

That's right. I had a phase where I had doubted my real feelings between him and Hyungwon. The thoughts that bother me itself are unfaithful, so I have no right to play innocent.

However, I know within myself that I haven't done any harmful acts where he could possibly accuse me of cheating.

"You were with Hyungwon were you?" He frowned.

"Yes, but he only gave me a treat by bringing me to the places he loved the most." I answered.

"Why would he do that?" He shot back.

"We were childhood friends, okay? He's also your friend. You're basically using him to be with me, and you know how much it made me uncomfortable. I took this day as an opportunity to break the ice between us. I got to know about how I could differentiate you from him!" I argued.

"No, Haneul! Don't you think he's already falling in love with you?!" Wonho raised his voice.

For a quick moment, my heart felt like it was slowly being melted because of the words Wonho had said.

It just made me confused once again.

Do I really want that to happen? How do I really feel towards Hyungwon?

However, my argumentative side quickly rose back up.

"No, I was only trying to welcome him back from the hospital too. Accompanying him around was a favor. This morning, he came to my rescue. He was there when my aunt came to attack me, and you weren't." I shot back.

"Wow. So you're taking his side? I thought you wanted him gone, Haneul-ah?" Wonho suddenly taunted me.

"W-what...?"

I suddenly grew scared that Wonho could have taken my words seriously, and that he was bound to do something bad.

"You wanted him gone. That was what I was planning to do." He finally said.

"No, W-Wonho! Don't take this seriously. I wanted him gone from our business, but not him--"

"Too bad. He's starting to get on my nerves, Haneul. So what are you gonna do about that?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Don't hurt him! Just leave him out, but don't do anything. Focus on us, just the two of us please?" I begged.

For a few moments, I looked at Wonho who froze on his spot. He kept his intense gaze at me, and I could tell that he was clearly mad.

Suddenly, he grabbed the vase beside him on the little table I had, and forcefully threw it far away hitting the wall.

"Ah!!" I screamed in surprise.

The vase broke and shattered pieces of glass were scattered everywhere around the floor.

I looked at him, my temper starting to build up. However, I couldn't take control because he was clearly a lot more furious than I was.

Suddenly, he took quick steps approaching closer towards me and within a split second, I felt myself being grabbed by the shoulders, and his cold lips landed onto mine.

"W-Wonho! Stop!!" I tried to fight back but he was unbelievably strong.

He was kissing me roughly, trying to keep me in place with his strength. His strength was something I hadn't imagined before. I just struggled to push him away from me at that very moment.

He kept kissing me hungrily, and I kept trying to move my head away. His both hands now cupped my face, as I suddenly felt him moving on to my neck.

"Wonho, no!!!" I shouted.

Finally, I felt him slow down as he eventually stopped and broke away from me. He released me from his grip, and took a few steps away from me.

I immediately fell to the ground, feeling weak from what had just happened. Everything about Wonho, this hidden side of him started to fill me with fear. I didn't know that he could possibly get so controlling towards me.

"Stand up." Wonho spoke, and upon hearing his voice, I immediately flinched.

I kept silent as I tried to avoid his gaze.

"I'm sorry." He spoke again.

"Go away... monster." I tried to say but my voice felt like it was taken away from me. It made me appear weaker.

I looked up at Wonho, and saw him release a sigh. Without any words, he started to walk away towards the door. There, he left me.
