XL: Once upon a dream

(..Hey.... long time no see...)

Priscilla and Carlos had parted ways after their encounter on the rooftop garden, both drenched from the rain. Priscilla headed to her dorm room to change, planning to rendezvous with Lonnie and then meet up with Jay. The reason for their meeting was that Jay as the Arabian boy, had finally made up his mind and was about to appoint Lonnie as the captain of the ROAR team. Priscilla's primary motivation was to witness her friend's happiness, with Chad's reaction being an added bonus

Speaking about the Asian girl, Priscilla spotted Lonnie about to knock on her dorm room door, but when Lonnie turned and saw Priscilla drenched, confusion washed over her features. Her eyebrows furrowed as she hesitantly asked, "What... happened to you?" Priscilla couldn't help but laugh, looking down at her soaked clothes and the irritating leather pants. "You won't believe what just happened, Lon," she said, moving closer to her friend and resting a hand on her shoulder. Lonnie gestured for Priscilla to continue, and Priscilla promptly ushered her inside the room. That's when the girl's wet clothes were exchanged for something more comfortable, and they began to catch up

Priscilla reminisced about the time she and the others had ventured to the island without Lonnie, then to where she came along, She also talked about where she had kissed Harry to Carlos asking her to Cotillion. A smile remained on her face throughout this reflection, replaying those moments in her mind. Lonnie couldn't help but share in her friend's happiness, glad to see Priscilla had found someone who treated her right

Priscilla stepped out of the bathroom, towel in hand, and began scrunching her wet hair with a smile. "I'm so happy for you, Pris," Lonnie beamed at her friend. Priscilla's grin was practically as wide as the Cheshire Cat's. "I've liked him for so long now," she admitted, letting out a sigh and tossing the towel aside

"Trust me, I know. You were kind of obvious with your feelings," Lonnie chuckled. Priscilla joined in the laughter, shaking her head. "Come on, we've got to get going," she said, eager to embark on the next adventure

"Time to name you captain of the ROAR Team!" Priscilla sang, her words causing the girl beside her to squeal in excitement

            —

Lonnie and Priscilla met up with Jay. "Hey, Jay," Priscilla greeted him, while Lonnie waved enthusiastically. "Hey. Are you ready?" Jay asked directly to Lonnie, who nodded her head rapidly, showing her excitement. Jay let out a laugh, "Okay, wait here."

Jay nodded and headed into the Amphitheater, with Lonnie and Priscilla leaning against the door to eavesdrop on his pep talk to the team. "Let's bring it in, boys, let's bring it in," Jay called out, clapping his hands to capture their attention. He let out a sigh and began his address, "All right." The anticipation in the air was palpable

"You all know I come from the Isle, right? Things are pretty whack," Jay began, his gaze sweeping across everyone. He couldn't help but let out a scoff that sounded more like a laugh. "But there's one thing the Isle's got on Auradon. If you're strong, we want you by our side, girl or boy," he declared, emphasizing the importance of strength and unity in their team

Chad let out a breathy chuckle and placed a hand on Jay's shoulder before speaking up "Hey. Jay, hold on here," Priscilla couldn't help but roll her eyes upon hearing Chad's voice, and she exchanged an eye-contact reaction with Lonnie, who seemed to share her sentiments. "He gets on my last nerves," Priscilla stated with a shake of her head

Lonnie hummed in agreement with the princess, nodding her head. "We don't, uh, break the rules here in Auradon. That's over on the Isle," As Chad continued to speak, Jay pulled out the rulebook and turned to a specific page that Chad had read from before. "Team shall be comprised of a Captain and Eight men," Jay read out the sentence. Chad, looking at the rulebook, shook his head in confusion

"So, uh, give it up for your new team captain"

Priscilla beamed at Lonnie, encouraging her friend as she walked confidently through the double doors. Lonnie bit her lip but entered the room with poise and a smile. Priscilla couldn't help but hear Chad's complaints and shock in the background. Instead of eavesdropping, she leaned on the door to watch the unfolding events. Her eyes landed on Carlos after Lonnie made it beside Jay, and she greeted him with a wave and a smile, which he returned.

Priscilla then shifted her attention back to Lonnie, observing as Jay placed a whistle around her neck. Jay clapped his hands, initiating a round of applause from everyone except Chad. Chad was just standing there doing a 'What?' gesture. The group, except for Chad once more, bowed to their new captain. Lonnie glanced back at Chad, who rolled his eyes, muttered a reluctant "Fine," and bowed to her, finally acknowledging her as the captain

Lonnie blew the whistle, taking charge of the team. "Give me 10! Come on, guys," she commanded, and everyone obediently dropped to their hands to start doing push-ups. Lonnie placed her foot on Chad's back, causing him to slow down and stay behind. Priscilla couldn't help but giggle and covered her mouth to hide her amusement. The other boys started counting out loud, and Lonnie teased Chad, saying, "Pick it up, Chad," which only made Priscilla giggle even more

"Nice form, Jay"

Once they reached the count of ten, Lonnie blew her whistle to signal the end of practice. "Okay, practice is over. Get out of here. Go get ready for Cotillion," she instructed, allowing the team to disperse and prepare for the upcoming event

Priscilla smiled at Lonnie one last time, now she's the one who's happy for her friend like how Lonnie was with her. She finally got her dream to be a part of the ROAR team. Carlos walked up to Priscilla, she looked up at him with a smile. They both said a small 'Hi' to each other before Priscilla reached out her hand towards him which he gladly grabbed

"Come" She pulled on his hand, leading him away from the Amphitheater

"Where are we going? Don't you have to get ready for Cotillion?" Carlos asked, walking behind her, still holding her hand.

"To the forest. I miss my furry little friends. I haven't visited them in so long," Priscilla explained, and Carlos could hear a touch of sadness in her voice as she spoke about missing the animals. His hands slid up from her arms to her shoulders, offering soothing comfort.

Priscilla gave him a smile telling him a thank you, "and it'll be real quick" She answered his second question right as they made it out of the school and walked into the forest. Once she stepped foot to the grass, she slowly took off her flats, she turned to the boy behind her "Can you hold these, please?" Carlos was a little bit confused but didn't question a thing and held her things

The girl began singing a tune, walking a bit further into the forest, Soon after a little bird reacted making the princess smile. She stopped at a tree that wasn't fully grown just yet. A blue bird landed on the tree. She sang a different tune as she stepped closer to the bird, Carlos just stood a bit behind, watching in amazement, his eyes softening at the girl

The tiny bird repeated after Priscilla as another red bird came along repeating the tune as well. He jumps to the branch that the blue bird was on, making him lose his balance, and falls off flapping his wings to make a soft landing

The daughter of Aurora laughs softly as she catches the bird, it landing on her index finger

It pecks her on her cheek once she brings the bird close to her face. Priscilla sang another tune lifting her arm to let the bird fly away, The red bird followed the blue bird that flew away

Priscilla looks over her shoulder seeing Carlos already watching her with soft eyes. She smiles at him and nods her head telling the boy to follow her. As they walked away the two birds alerted other different kinds of animals to let them know that the princess was back in the forest, They heard her getting further away

A few seconds later the girl heard an owl above her, She looked up and saw the owl fall but was slowed down by his wings. He landed on her basket that she had brought along, he sang along with Priscilla as many animals were around her such as; Bunnies, squirrels, and the two birds from earlier. The animals follow her with the owl still in the basket, Carlos still trailing a bit far behind still amazed by what's happening in front of him. They walked over a bridge that was a tree trunk that had fallen, They reached the other side of the forest

Priscilla started picking berries from bushes humming quietly. Two other birds came along making her stop on her track "I wonder" Priscilla hummed out loud a familiar tune, a tune her mother used to sing, She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, and she followed the two new birds "I wonder" She kept following them as they went to a different branch "I wonder why each little bird has a someone to sing to" She looks to the birds singing, her eyes travels to Carlos. She placed her finger against her lips telling the freckled boy to be quiet

She faced the owl who had two berries in his mouth "Sweet things to" She nodded a thank you before taking the berries from his beak "A gay little love melody" She walked away while putting the berries in her basket "I wonder" The birds sing after her

"I wonder" She held the basket with both of her hands in front of her "I wonder if my heart keeps singing, Will my song go winging to someone" Priscilla and the animals made it to the edge of a cliff "Who will find me and bring back a love song" She rested her arms on a branch as she stared off to Auradon city "To me" The owl and the two other bird were on the branch beside her, the others soon joining in

Carlos remained a few steps behind, close enough to observe Priscilla. He watched as she rested her chin on the handle of her basket, her gaze fixated on her parents' distant castle. Although the castle stood far from her current position, the glistening sun made it sparkle brilliantly, catching her attention

"Oh, dear," Priscilla sighed softly, her voice carrying a hint of frustration as she began to walk away from the tree branch. "Why doesn't she believe me?" she wondered aloud

The owl flew to her face, "Who?" He hoots, Priscilla stares at the owl and shrugs "My grammy" She answers dunking her head down to walk under a branch that was on her way. She sits on the edge of a pond, her bare foot placed on a floating ground that was in the water. Her right foot dipped in the cold water but it seemed to unfazed the girl. "She doesn't believe me when I said I met someone"

The birds chirps sadly. Priscilla looks up at them with determination "But you know what? I'll show her. Show her the proof that I have met someone" Her hand rested on her chest then pointed at the owl "I have finally met someone" More animals huddled together, intrigued

"Who?"

Priscilla chose to playfully ignore the owl as she stood up from the ground and walked away from the pond. The owl trailed behind her, the others right behind "Who? Who?"

She looks back at them, "Oh...A Prince. My Prince" The birds chirps wanting more details from the Princess. The girl watches them chirp in front of her face, "Well, He's tall," She demonstrates to them, bringing her hand up telling the height of the so-called prince, The birds sit on the branch as they continue to chirp "And handsome and..." She reached up to get some berries "And so romantic" She sighed dreamily making the animals chirp excitedly even more interested and wanting even more

"Oh, we walk together and talk together"

Priscilla sat down in a huge tree root that was popping out from the ground "And just before we say goodbye, he takes me in his arms" She wrapped her arms around herself as the birds, the owl, and the rest of the animals lean in closer to her from the branch they were sitting in, hooting, chirping and twitching their noses "and then... I wake up" They all chirp sadly in unison, all of their hopes were brought down. They were sad for the princess, but little did they know she was only fooling them. She had already met her dream prince, and he was just standing far away with a smile watching her interact with the animals "Yes, it's only in my dreams" She stated sadly

"But they say if you dream a thing more than once, it's sure to come true and I've seen him so many times"

Priscilla begins to hum to a tune for the animals, She grabs one of the berries from the basket and places one in her mouth. She began to look around her surroundings looking for the white-haired boy that she had not heard of yet. Once she had found him a bit far away, they made eye contact. Carlos smiled and waved at her. She smiled back at him

While they were smiling at each other, the animals ran to the other side of the tree, Hearing all of them make noise she turned her head and let out a gasp and a laugh at the scene in front of her. The animals had grabbed someone's cloak, hat, and boots from god knows where "Oh my god" She laughed

The owl with his puffed chest was wearing the said cloak as the two red and blue birds were holding the sleeves. A squirrel was on top of the owl's head and under the hat and two bunnies were inside the boots, each jumping one by one to make it seem like they were walking "Why, it's my dream Prince" Priscilla laughs, she places the basket down on the grass

She stood up from the grown root and gave the animal a curtsy "Your Highness" The princess began to sing a random melody as she twirled to the animals. She leans towards them, looking right at the Owl. Both of her hands were behind her back "You know, I'm really not supposed to speak to strangers" She jested as she watched the birds wrap the sleeves around her shoulders bringing her closer to the owl

"But we've met before"

"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream" Priscilla started to sing with her hands on her waist, she walked a bit ahead and turned to the animals. She began to dance with them doing some turns, she giggled as they struggled so she walked to the owl and grabbed the empty sleeves "I know you, that look in your eyes so familiar a gleam" She walked backward while holding the collar of the cloak before letting it go, the owl stayed in the air for a second before falling down along with the squirrel as the cloak was too heavy for the owl and he could barely flap his wings

"And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem" The owl and squirrel ran towards Priscilla as she danced and walked backwards, the hat and cloak slowing them down. The owl tried to fly, and the squirrel stayed on the owl's back "But if I know you, I know what you'll do" The animals were back to their positions to seem like a human and faced Priscilla, The girl booped the beak of the owl and smiled. She grabbed the collar of the cloak once again and spun the owl around "You'll love me at once. The way you did once upon a dream"

She grabbed the empty sleeves and wrapped them around her shoulders, her back facing the animals and she away side by side. She spins herself facing the owl again. She started to dance with the owl "La-ah, La-ah, La-ah" she hummed at the end as she continued to dance with the animals
"But if I know you, I know what you'll do" Priscilla did a twirl away from the animals not noticing that Carlos had moved them away, now taking their place "You'll love me at once"

Priscilla twirled back to Carlos, her back facing him. He grabbed her wrist and danced with her "The way you did once upon a dream" Carlos sang, surprising Priscilla by his sudden. Her eyes widened, she looked around for the animals and saw them hung on a tree branch "Carlos—I mean, oh!" She exclaims following the act and Carlos is quick to follow along after watching her the whole time

Priscilla tried to walk away from the boy but Carlos held on to her hand, "I'm sorry" He laughed, "I didn't mean to scare you" Priscilla glanced back at the animals and then back to Carlos, She tried to escape once again releasing from his grasp but Carlos caught her again "Oh, it..it wasn't that. It's just that you're..uh..."

She tried to run off again but Carlos caught her again "A stranger?" Priscilla hums a yes as an answer

"But don't you remember? We've met before" Carlos winked

"We...we have?" Priscilla stuttered, her words filled with a mix of surprise and curiosity "Well, of course. You've said so yourself" He brought the girl closer to him by pulling her hand "Once upon a dream" Carlos let go of her

Priscilla gave him a look and smile before turning around, keeping the act with her chin high and her eyes were closed. She was surprised by how fast he could play along. Or how he remembered how the event happened when her mother and father met for the first time. Priscilla only knew how it went because every night when she was younger she always asked her mother how she and Papa met. She wondered how Carlos knew every move and word

Priscilla walked away from Carlos as he began to sing again, "I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream"

Priscilla slowly looked back at him as she walked around a tree, her back pressed against it. She looked to her left trying to find the boy. Carlos walked to her right sneaking up on her, he grabbed her hand actually scaring her "I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam" Animals moved closer to the two and kept watching the scene unfold in front of them.

Priscilla gave him a soft smile as she walked around a small boulder, she looked behind at him as he grabbed her hand.

"And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem" The two began to dance with each other "But if I know you, I know what you'll do. You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream" Carlos made her do circles around him, she made it in front of him. With their hand outstretched she leaned closer to him and then backed away. The animals watched everything, both happy and shocked.

Priscilla began to walk Carlos to the cliff from before where you can see Auradon City and many other Queens and King's castles that are far away. The two walked in front of the branch, leaning against it. Priscilla faced the Animals before facing the city in front of her, Carlos walked beside her and wrapped his arm around her waist as she leaned her head against his shoulder

With her head still on his shoulder she looks up at the white-haired boy and smiles at him. She grabbed his cheeks bringing him down towards her, connecting their lips together in front of the animals. The said animals chirped and squeaked in shock and excitement at the sudden kiss they shared. Priscilla laughs against Carlos' lips, She parted away from him and looks over her shoulder to the animals

"It's my dream prince," she whispered loudly, clearly wanting Carlos to hear her words. Carlos chuckled and glanced down at his shoes, a blush creeping across his cheeks

The birds chirped happily. Priscilla smiled and turned her gaze back to Carlos, her smile growing wider as she noticed the blush on his cheeks.

"We should go back to Auradon Prep. We don't want to be late for Cotillion," she suggested. Carlos nodded in agreement, saying, "Yeah, let's go," as they prepared to return to their school and the evening's festivities.
