Part VII: Who Gave You Permission?

━━ 💥 💥 💥 ━━

After the events that unfolded yesterday, I couldn't help but really think about it more.

"Ketsueki... how did he manage to get my number? Or my locations for that matter...? He isn't a messenger sent from above, but he's a person. He's a person that I know nothing about."

Who are you?

couldn't help but mutter these thoughts to myself after waving my grandmother goodbye. As a roommate, she's very clean. So much so, that she tends to every spec in the annex that catches her keen eyes. Fortunately, she doesn't make me do the cleaning.

My dad was still in the hospital, sure to ring in here and there to check up on his only daughter. My parents were talking about having another kid as well. I was really looking forward to having a little brother or sister.

With my satchel in hand, I strolled down the sidewalk, still in deep thought; thinking about everything that happened a day prior. Then suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Jolting, I turned to face the culprit.

"Ah! Yes..?" I questioned, only to be surprised to see a blond standing behind me. He still held that scowl... but something seemed different about him today. He was more... gentle.

He didn't respond to my greeting, so I then decided to follow up with a, "Hey, Bakubro!!" He cringed, noticeably, and so I chuckled before leaning in close to him with my arms crossed behind my back. "What are you doing here?"

He looked at me with visibly pink cheeks, which did make me a bit surprised... and adored. Scratching his cheek with his index finger, Bakugo spoke. "I heard there were murders goin' around in this area. You should be careful."

Gasping, my lips parted to form that of an 'o'. Nudging him, smiling, I continued to tease him. "Whaat? You know about that? Is someone worried about me?~" I asked in a coo.

But again, he brushed me off by resuming his walk towards the school, scoffing. "No, you moron."

Pursing my lips, I puffed my cheeks out at his mannerisms. Then, I followed, walking around him several times at every turn of his head. He was avoiding me. "Why are you so mean to little ole' me? You know, I could die tomorrow, you never know."

His pace notably slowed. I did notice this. Blinking profusely out of confusion, I tilted my head. After doing so, Bakugo proceeded to reply. "That won't happen. You can forget ever dying." He seemed... serious and assertive; confident even.

Perspiration formed on my forehead at these words, but I chuckled it off as nothing more than a harmless joke. "Aha... I'm only kidding. Honestly, you're sounding more and more like a my friend, Ketsueki."

His shoulders tensed from my words, but I didn't seem to notice. Additionally, Bakugo wore a nervous, troubled look with a subtle mutter. "..Yeah, and I'm tryin' to avoid that..." Continuing on our walk, I fished out my cellphone, stepping down the path.

"Hmm... Maybe I should give him a call. I wonder how he's doing." After scrolling for his contact, I was interrupted briefly by the fierce male to my right.

"You--!" Bakugo paused after jolting to grab my attention. I blinked again, then he hesitantly proceeded, though much calmer this time. "You should leave him alone. It's early, after all."

Waving a hand dismissively, my thumb skidded across the bright screen as I replied. "Nah! It'll be fine, he's practically at my beckoning call." Smiling, I then gave him a thumbs up as I brought my ear.

Turning to my side, I wasn't able to notice the confliction in his masculine features. He was stammering profusely, which was undoubtedly out of character for him.

I listened as the line ringed once, but after that, I couldn't hear any more. In seconds, I was quickly spun around. My eyes was met with his own, and my ears with the deafening sound of booming music.

With widened eyes, Bakugo kept me close while handing me his iPod. Seriously, who still uses these?

I watched him with confusion, tilting my head. I didn't prevent his hands from shoving earbuds into my ears at all. Silently, I questioned his actions. "This is my favorite song." I couldn't at all hear the loud ringing coming from his cellphone.

Riiing, Riiing

Now I wasn't very skilled at reading lips, but I could make out the word 'favorite.'

"OH, ITS A GOOD SONG! I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE INTO MODERN ROCK." I spoke loudly, smiling, and nearly completely forgetting about the phone call I was supposed to be making. At the realization, I brought my hand up... but the call was redirected over to voicemail.

My expression softened at this, and so my eyes pointed back to Bakugo, who seemed visibly pleased. He was fighting laughter. And now that I was close up, he really was attractive. Watching him vibrate like that with the smallest smile was... nice.

Once he'd lowered his guard, I lowered his hands from my ears, feeling as he took his earbuds along with them. "You know..." Leaning in close, I chuckled, holding him by his hands very gently. "You look a lot less intimidating when you smile!"

Redness conquered his porcelain complexion in a matter of seconds, leaving me to melt even more at this sight. "Aw!" I gushed, but he snatched his hands away from me and started off without me.

"Whatever. You're so god damn annoying..." Bakugo said this... but I knew he wasn't one that could take compliments very easily. Trailing after him like that of a barking puppy, I continued complimenting him.

"Is it that bad?

So you like compliments on your skills, but not on your looks?-- Hey!"

"What?! A blind... date?!"

Such a great opportunity! I'm glad I didn't decide to spend my day at home. Otherwise, I would have missed out on scoring myself a potential boyfriend. Though, I didn't really expect to hear this from the very people I shunned not too long ago.

Awkwardly smiling, I brushed locks of my hair behind my ear, obviously considering. "Why.. me exactly?" My voice peaked an octave higher as I asked this.

Mina pranced to my side, feeling pumped about this event. Both Ochako and Momo seemed to be reluctant to go, but agreed nonetheless. Perhaps it was because of Mina's persistence and tenacity.

"Why not? I think it'll be fun! Don't you just love romance?~" Her fingers intertwined with one another as she exclaimed this in a sing-song tone, opting for chuckles from us.

Momo stood, smiling pleasantly with her arms folded across her chest. "I'd normally agree on something much more... hero-based, but maybe this opportunity will be a good one."

Suddenly, Todoroki and Kirishima came to abruptly indulge themselves with our conversation. "Yaoyarozu, that doesn't sound like you at all." The calm, collected male voiced out. Then, Kirishima strolled over with his arms folded behind his head.

"Mina has always been the love cupid, so I think this suits her. But what about us guys? Do we get a blind date?" He asked, jokingly appearing hurt.

"No way! It's only for the girls!"

"That's not manly at all..."

I chuckled at their interactions, just as my classmates did. In doing so, I turned my head towards Bakugo. You know... when you find yourself glancing over at certain people for no particular reason? It was like that.

But this time, he'd managed to catch my glance. Despite feeling awkward about this, I gave him a subtle smile and a slight wave... but he only averted his eyes, resting the palm of his hand against his cheek.

"Oho~ What was that, (Y/N)?~ Don't tell me you're into Mr. Sour Face over there?" Kaminari caught me; red-handed.

Seriously, where did he come from?

Pointing his thumb into Bakugo's direction, he wore a playful grin as he began to close in on me. He leaned in, obviously waiting for some sort of answer or satisfying reaction from me.

"What? Kacchan?" A green-haired male muttered out, but it wasn't at all inaudible to Bakugo or the few students floating around my desk. Nonplussed, he glanced between the two of us.

"See? Even Midoriya is surprised!" Kaminari meant well, but putting me on the hot seat like this is awfully embarrassing... It makes my heart race.

"I-It isn't like that at all!" Lowering my gaze, my hands rested in my lap as I shuffled in my seat nervously. In situations like this, it was a habit to grow much more timid. "..he's just so happened to be there whenever I was in a bad spot... That's all!"

"See! Leave her alone, Kaminari!"

"Aw man, I thought it was somethin' juicy..."

"Yes, she does seem troubled."

"Oh hey! Where is (Y/N) supposed to meet him, Mina?--"

"You can discuss extracurricular activities later! Class will begin soon, so please take your seats!"

With the thought of attending the blind date after school today, classes flew by easily! After seven long hours, I was walking down the corridors, heading to the rendezvous for the event: a local cafe.

Everyone got there own dates, be it tomorrow or today. 'I'm surprised they approached me on something like this. They barely know me after all... Do they consider me a friend already?'

The thought did make me simultaneously melt, feel fuzzy and warm me up. This was a good sensation.

Smiling, I sub-consciously balled my hand into my chest as I proceeded... but a figure stopped me in my tracks.

First, I eyed his shoes, then his hands, which were shoved into his pockets, and finally my eyes met with a familiar blond. My smile enlarged. "Hey! I've been meaning to ask... why don't you talk to me during class?"

Tilting my head to the side, I awaited his answer. Bakugo raised his hand, ruffling locks of his ash blond hair. "It's too much of a bother. I don't talk unless I'm approached first."

In that moment, I was taken aback to all of our previous encounters. It was safe to say he was correct. Except... there was that one time. Nodding, I smiled. "I guess you're right, but how do you explain the other day? When we had coffee."

Briefly, he averted his eyes before revealing his cellphone to me. Entirely, he dismissed that conversation, and brought about a new one. "Give me your number."

I quirked my scrupulous brow, questioning him with my eyes alone. But after a moment, I shrugged and swiped up his phone. As I went to put in my number, I couldn't help but notice how brand-new it was.

"Oh wow! This must be what the A8 feels like. I'd go crazy if I had a phone like this, you're lucky." He eyed me with those plotting eyes of his, then nodded.

While patiently waiting for me to return his cell, Bakugo cleared his throat, and spoke in that gruff tone of his. "Where are you meeting him? The place'd better have good reviews." Handing his phone back to him, I smiled warmly.

"It's that new one that just had it's grand-opening. I think it's called... Softee's Pâtisserie's, or something like that. It's French, haha." Waving, I began hurrying off. "I've gotta go now, see you!!"

━━ 💥 💥 💥 ━━

'Because of my run-in with that porcupine, I'm sure I'll be a little late. Geez, why'd he have to hold me up?' Waiting to cross the robust street, I felt my phone vibrate within the palm of my hand. Then, out of instinct, I read the message. "Hm?"

Ding Ding

The location wasn't far from me and my house at all. It had only been a few blocks down, and it was less crowded than I originally thought.

Entering the cafe, I glanced around... but saw no sign of the person Mina described to me beforehand. Deciding to give it a wait, I sat down, placing my satchel down beside me. "Excuse me, ma'am! Can I order?"

Eventually, an hour passed. This was enough to make me realize that I had been stood up. Sighing, I reached for my satchel and left a bit of cash to cover the bill. It was until afterwards did I leave.

"I got stood up and I wasn't able to try that new hotspot...

 Softee's seemed promising, too. Hmph.."
