| Part VI: My Quirk |
"It's me. Your 'guardian angel.'"
His tone was so... deadpan, but oddly familiar. My frantic eyes kept on the wall, calming, but my heart didn't. The watch being clasped around my wrist continued to beep loudly and erratically. This happened whenever my heart rate reached 130.
I still proceeded on with my muffles to be freed, but he still didn't budge. Instead, he hushed me while pressing his back against the wall. In his opposing hand was... coffee? But what did he need that for? I was genuinely confused by this, but eventually submitted.
My gaze kept in front of me, since I was frozen in place. But at the pitter-patter of approaching footsteps, I turned my head just as he did. Gritting his teeth, Bakugo shuffled more to the side, before tossing the piping beverage into the man running.
He grunted loudly, opting for my surprise and fear. "Wh-What the--" My erratic gaze fell onto the once invisible man; and in his clutches, was a knife. The beeping reaching our ears didn't ever stop. With my eyes tightly closing, I shook my head. "Mwease let mwe go, or I'll-- urmph!"
"You're everywhere... Shit.." Defeated, the man glared at him. He then silently winced at the excruciating pain, and immediately fled some place else.
Bakugo was silent, but his eyes relayed every bit of his hostility, as well as his aura that hugged him similarly to that of a coat. "I told you to be careful." He scolded, but by the time he'd turned to me, I wasn't there.
Well... I was... but not as a person. With wide, confused eyes, Bakugo held out the palm of his hand, and sitting on top of it was...
Me. A pigeon.
I could tell he was fighting laughter by the way he held his free hand over his black mask, where his mouth would have been.
My beaks parted at this, slightly agape from both irritation and embarrassment. I then sprawled and unfolded my wings, waving them in a fit. "Do you think this is funny?!"
Nodding quite shamelessly, Bakugo's shoulders continued to shake as audible chuckles escaped his lips. "...How.. long?" He questioned, looking at me with his piercing red hues.
"Just a few minutes. Maybe seven or eight..." Now that I was looking at him, he really did seem familiar. He wore a black hood over his hair, and black gloves and mask.
In attempts to get a closer look at him, I tried to peek underneath his hood just a bit, but he pulled me away from him further. He just looked me directly in my dark, beady eyes, quietly.
Breaking the silence, I turned my head. "..Who are you... anyway? What's your name?" Sliding his back along the wall until he reached the floor, Bakugo's voice remained still.
He still proceeded with his stare, tilting his head to the side. While he did this, he stretched one leg out, leaving the other to stand with his foot placed flatly on the ground.
His lack of response was unnerving, admittedly. Really. Who was he? Now that I'm seriously thinking about it... what did he want from me? He seems to pop up whenever I was in trouble, but for that, I couldn't suspect him of anything.
"Ketsueki." He spoke coldly, responding moments later. What an odd name. Again, I lowered my eyes. "Well I am (Y/N)!" I chirped, quite literally.
He nodded once more, unable to keep his gaze from following me. "I know." Loosening up didn't seem like something he could do. But apart from this... how did he know me? The thought itself was a bit of a frightening one. My feelings towards him began to waver.
"I-I see... well.. it's nice that I can finally meet you, sorta." He responded with the tilt of his head, continuing to uncomfortably stare into my direction.
"Your parents..." He'd managed to capture my attention with that alone, leaving me crestfallen. "What about them?" I questioned.
He continued to gaze at me with his mesmerizing pair of eyes, then proceeded to add on. "They are not my responsibility. You are."
His words stung... but I knew I couldn't rely on him for that. Instantly, I was taken aback and lowered my head instead of actually responding.
He was almost like a brick wall, similarly to Bakugo. Talking to him, igniting a conversation, certainly wasn't going to be an easy task. Just as I were turning to him, I felt my body enlarge, losing its bird-like features.
Smiling widely at this, I kept myself leaned up against the male, unaware of this. "That was four minutes earlier this time! I'm glad Principal Nezu designed my uniform so that it'd work well with my quirk. Y'know, since I'd be under-dressed and all--"
M
y eyes widened at the... undoubtedly explicit position I found myself in with him. I sat just barely below his groin, with my hands pressing into his chest. I could feel how chiseled it was, even with his thin jacket and shirt on.
He gazed into my eyes just as I did his. Unlike me though, he was remaining calm, while I blushed profusely. Although, this was what I thought before detecting the loud thumping of his heart. It didn't belong to me.
Awkwardly, I pulled my hands from his body, wearing inescapable satisfaction and regret. I sweatdropped, flailing my hands dismissively. "I am /so/ sorry, Ketsueki!! I-- You shouldn't have been holding m--"
Suddenly, his gloved hand grasped my wrist to tug me forward. After doing so, his arms wrapped around my back. With his arms reeling me further in, eventually I found myself tensed up, glued against him.
"Wh-What's this?!! What are you doing right now?!" My lips were slightly ajar... but I didn't feel very uncomfortable. He was really warm.
Patting my back reassuringly, Bakugo spoke. "Don't be afraid of me. I live only for you, (Y/N)." With his tone, it seemed as though he were having trouble with sounding hostile and comforting, which was a tad endearing.
Still nervously and awkwardly chuckling, I slowly pulled away from his grasp. "Oh, I see... I don't know, there are other ways to go about that." Honestly, I planned on moving a lot sooner... but again, he'd managed to surprise me.
Now holding me just below both of my shoulders, Bakugo leaned in close. The gap between us shortened and shortened until...
He paused, slowly blinking as though he were reorganizing his thoughts. "I almost forgot about my mask." His hand reached to lower it from covering his lips, but both his realization and my shout stopped him, abruptly.
"Stop!! What are you? Trying to kiss me?!" Sighing out of relief, I stood up carefully. "I don't think my face can handle all this redness anymore... you're so quick."
Standing after me, Bakugo eyed me, obviously confused. "I thought kissing was what you were implying, for me to reassure you." I shook my head at this, intervening my arms with each other to form an 'X'.
"Of course not! What I meant was for you to be verbal! Words speak just as loudly as actions, you know." I scolded him, but he scoffed, sliding his hands into his pockets. Huffing, Bakugo averted his eyes while mumbling. "..not my fault you weren't being specific."
That was different. Chuckling, I hovered my hand over my lips. "I guess you're right, but I thought you'd have enough common sense." Ushering him forward and out of the alleyway, I continued. "C'mon, walk me home for tonight while you're here."
And within a few steps, we'd already been on the route to my house. Today was really an eventful day.

"What do you mean? I'm always here."
"What? Oh geez, I didn't know you had such a sense of humor, hahaha!"
"But I'm not jokin--"
"You sound so serious, it totally reminds me of my friend! Loosen up a little!"
"Ow."
