| Part IV: I'm Here |
My infatuation with you began long ago... but I was only so willing to act on this just recently. What started off as a harmless crush, became a dangerous obsession overnight. I knew this, but I wanted to see you as much as possible.
━━ 💥 💥 💥 ━━
It wasn't me acting, it was the greedy, demonic part of me when I nabbed your phone. "She should take better care of her things." If I were being honest, I was hesitant... although, I had to keep tabs on you. To make sure you were alright.
That was the only reason I was there. I noticed someone— something watching you from a distance. A simple mistake led to me sitting by your side, messaging and deleting my number as you went to went to grab us a drink.
I was never the type to like black coffee, but it was from you.
What sold that perverted, sadistic bastard out was how he'd accidentally bumped into a citizen passing. I don't blame him for being so captivated by you, you are undoubtedly stunning.
Needless to say, that was when it all started. I told myself I was doing this to protect you— which I was— but I was growing more and more engrossed by you. I couldn't help myself.
You always were the clumsy, air-headed and non-attentive type. So, I've decided to become your eyes. My feet trudged against the cement as I kept a safe distance behind you. I didn't have anything to cover my face, my hood was the only useful thing on me during this sort of circumstance.
Whoever this guy was... I was sure going to show him who's superior, maybe even milk some information out of him in the process. He had a half-assed quirk. Why? Well because anyone was able to see his shadow, even while he was invisible. I grinned at this.
My eyes read every message you sent me, I was attentive enough to respond as swiftly and quickly as possible. This guy was waiting for her to turn left, so she had to go around.
I made you. I didn't necessarily consider the consequences of helping you out. I just wanted you to be safe, so I could continue to quietly admire your beauty. After watching you head home, I turned my head into the direction of the trash cans.
I think he noticed me then, lurking behind the scenes. Because for a while, I didn't hear any shuffling or footsteps. I could just feel a pair of piercing eyes narrowing on me from underneath that streetlight.
Sliding my phone into my pocket, I left my phone there. I had to look sharp. As I did this, I returned his glare with a more malicious one, grinning hungrily. "I know you're over there. Invisibility for a quirk? Sounds useful, but you can't even use that properly." I spoke loudly enough for my voice to travel and reach his ears.
For a while, there were silence... but eventually I came to hear the pitter-patter of his footsteps heading into my direction.
I've been itching for a fight for some time now, but it had to take place somewhere else. Reaching for a trashcan sitting conveniently beside me, I tossed it in front of me, taking a step back. Suddenly, I watched as the man appeared after its impact.
With widened eyes, I didn't hesitate to jolt to attack him... but after what it looked like was a second, he disappeared. 'What? Just a moment ago, he was vulnerable. Where is he?'
Now standing amongst the shadows, I turned to prey. Still, this didn't keep me from being on my guard, or kicking his ass. "Either your invisibility is wearin' off, or whenever you take damage, you reveal yourself before disappearing again. Presumably, it's to reactivate your ability, right?."
He wasn't reacting, responding, or attacking at all. There was no noise, except for my own voice. Clenching my teeth at this, I stood with my feet apart.
It took moments, a minute even, before I received some sort of response. Again, the man reappeared. His face was covered by a hat and black mask, but I had to worry about appearances at a later date. For now, I had to avoid the large knife being waved into my direction, which was being gripped by a gloved hand.
Just barely, I'd manage to avoid the graze. Still, he caught my waist pretty good. Wincing just slightly, I laughed tauntingly. "Wow, you really do have a half-assed quirk." As I said this, I noticed the effect beginning to wear off. This man was beginning to waver between visibility and invisibility... How convenient.
He had to have realized, because just then, he started to run to make his escape. Gritting my teeth, I quickly pursued. "Get your ass back here and fight me!" I shouted, obviously intimidating him. That look on his face as he looked back at me was all too satisfying.
Raising my arms behind me, I used explosions to propel me through the air, landing on him after the gap between the two of us shortened.
Then, lying beneath my feet was a sorry, struggling man. "I can't believe I let a kid stop me... Release me this instant!" He demanded. With his mannerisms, he was undoubtedly sophisticated. Raising a brow, I again laughed. "You're in no position to give orders."
Grabbing him by his hood, I pulled him up just to toss his back against the wall again. "Who needs a quirk when I could use raw power on a shrimp like you?"
Before his back could slide down against the wall, I squeezed his neck between my fingers, easing in the pain and strength little by little with my tightening grip. He dropped the knife. "Don't keep me waiting, we don't have all day. Why were you following that girl?"
The man was desperately gasping for the little air he was receiving, trying to squirm from my grasp. "And why... would I tell you... something like that?"
Irritated, my fingers tightened. "Because if you don't, you're a dead man. And right now..." My slits of eyes narrowed on him, and within them was writhing domination and bloodlust. "You're close to being six feet under."
I watched with amusement as drool trickled from his chin uncontrollably, too blinded to notice his hand reaching into his pocket.
This was my first mistake.
Grunting at the feeling of a needle being lodged into my shoulder, I immediately released him, and stumbled back.
I could feel the substance dissolving within me, which made for an awful sensation. My hand pressed against my forehead as I squeezed my eyes shut, shaking my head.
"...You'd better tell me.. what the hell you did to me... right now." My voice trembled, and so did my hands.
The mysterious figure reached for his knife once more, using his opposing hand to rub at his bruised neck. "You've got some fight in you, kid. I can't believe you almost killed me."
So now he was acting confident? After drugging me? I gagged, coughing. 'Shit, this is bad... I'm practically out of commission here..'
"Without you by that girl's side, I think I can pick off another victim. You're strong, I'll give you that." He stepped forward. As a reward, I'll tell you what's coursing through your veins right now. You're going to die anyway."
"Screw this." I growled, my disdain grew even more apparent. I was superior, not him. Extending my hand, my palm pointed into his direction. "I'm gonna wipe that smug ass smile from your face."
Prepared to finally attack, I glared at him intently... but my quirk wasn't at all materializing.
Laughing, the man reached into his pocket. Eventually, he revealed an empty, used syringe."Succinylcholine. Recently, I've found out that this not only paralyses the body... but it stops quirks. Temporarily of course, so you'll be fine. Dead, maybe, but not at all quirkless."

My vision was rapidly growing poor yet I showed no intention to let him leave satisfied. My chest heaved up and down as I spat towards his feet. My gaze was still just as menacing. "Me? I'm the cream of the crop. I'd like to see you try."
The man didn't hesitate to pounce towards me, and I clumsily avoided the death blow. "I'm slower and you still can't touch me. Talk about pathetic."
"Tch... argh!" He again attacked, swinging above this time. Had to been any other angle, I wouldn't have had such an opportunity to corner him. After I dodged, I listened to the clanking of the knife as it collided against the concrete wall behind me.
Sliding behind him, I gripped him by the back of his head, fingers tangling with his black locks. In seconds, his face had been smashed and pressed against the wall brutally. The droplets of blood falling from his broken x dislocated nose was all too good.
"Worthless trash like you should know your place." My eyes narrowed, darkening. Slowly, I pulled his head away from the wall, only to collide it against the cement again. Over, and over, and over... I did this. But every time I did so, I felt a bit of my strength escape my body. "Leave (Y/N) alone."
Just like me, this man was still kicking... but barely. "Shit... I can't think straight. I said her name.." Erratically, the man chuckled, pulling away from my grasp. "Both you and (Y/N) are done, trust me."
The approaching footsteps of a person passing stole both of our attention. Sparing me only one more glance, he took off, reverting back into nothingness.
I wasn't completely defeated, on the bright side of things. My back slid down the alleyways wall until I reached the floor on my rear. "Succinylcholine, huh...?" My consciousness was slipping, and my body no longer listened to me. There wasn't a thing I could do about it.
"(Y/N)... stay put.."

I
don't even remember how long I sat there for, recollecting my strength and self-possession. But what I did know, was that I was going to fight the bad for you. And while I do that... I'll figure out what your quirk is.
The following morning, I stood waiting for you outside for quite a some time. Girls love to take forever.
As soon as I'd laid eyes on you, I began admiring you from a distance. Even while you're frustrated and lost, you had some sort of charm.
Eventually, I remembered that my task wasn't to stalk you, but to escort you to school safely. I made sure to stand extra vigilant, even as you tried to strike up conversation with me several times.
Perhaps I should consider loosening up around you a bit more... You seemed so comfortable with me.
After we'd entered UA, I noticed your conversation with Deku, which really did begin to piss me off. There was no sharing you with anyone. Additionally, I noticed your change in mood classes began.
It was unnerving, and so I got curious. What were you looking at? Why was your phone so important?
Then, I did the same. Sweeping up my smartphone, my eyes narrowed on the screen. "I don't remember reading this message... huh.." My voice trailed off as I read the message you delivered to me the same night.
Meeting up with a stranger? She was as air-headed as it got. Knowing (YN), she'd think of me as some sort of Guardian Angel. Of course, I can't tell her that... because she'd want an explanation. I can't mention how infatuated with her I am..
"It's been a day... It's best if I don't respond." Placing my phone back down, I continued looking into your direction, just until I heard Aizawa calling you out into the halls.
That couldn't be good.
