Chapter 1
A/n: here is the semi-awaited first chapter. Hope you guys don't mind me changing the story a little bit but anyways. This isn't as good as I hoped but it's still pretty good. I posted a fill in chapter so if you're confused go there and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Leaving Hogwarts was always the hardest part of the year. Leaving for three months to live with a rich family may seem amazing and glamorous but it's not. Yes, the Malfoy's are family but they don't replace my parents or my uncle who I've been told was my godfather.
Don't get me wrong, I love Mrs. Malfoy, Narcissa as she makes me call her since I refuse to call her mom. Her and Draco treat me well like I am and have always been part of their immediately family. Mr. Malfoy, Lucius as he hates me calling him, really couldn't care less about me. He pretty much ignores me which is fine.
As I sat in the carriage looking out the window I sighed. Turning to my friends, Lee Jordan, and Fred and George Weasley as they looked at me.
"What's with the dramatic sigh, Black?" Lee asked.
"I'm feeling dramatic today. Next time we're at Hogwarts we'll be in our forth year, more than half of our time at Hogwarts gone!" I exclaimed, throwing my arms out hitting Fred's face.
"Ow! Watch the hair!" He exclaimed, hands rushing up to smooth the flaming red hair down.
"Please, she wouldn't do anything to it with the amount of hair gel you put in it." George smirked as Lee and I laughed. To soon we were at the train and back to the train station.
"Bye, Jordan." I said, hugging him as he went off to his family. He looked back and waved.
"What about us?" Fred asked. We huddled in a group hug before going our separate ways. They went to the sea of red hair and I went to find the boy with towhead hair. Seeing his light colored head exiting the train I walked quickly to him.
"Come on, Draco. Let's go get our stuff." I said to him. He nodded to his friends and walked with me to the end of the train where the luggage was being unloaded.
After we grabbed our stuff and went over to where the Malfoy's were waiting. Narcissa smiled and hugged us while Lucius just nodded. I looked at the train one last time before running into the magical barrier.
.
That was three months ago. Before the announcement of Sirius Black's breakout. When I heard of the breakout Narcissa had to come in and tell me because no one else in the house cares about telling. For some reason then and now, I'm not scared. I don't know what will happen but, you know that feeling you get when you know what's going to happen? Well, you don't know what's going to happen but you do know it will turn out to work in your favor in the long run? Yeah, you probably haven't but that's how I feel right now.
Even now, as I'm standing outside of King's Cross Station in the bitter cold I still had that feeling. Everything would be okay, I hope. I ran through the barrier and looked around the sea of people. Draco and his family came a few seconds later.
Narcissa pulled me aside. "Y/n, please be careful and safe this year. I made a promise to your mother to protect you and well, I can't really do that from where I am at the Malfoy Manor. With you being in Gryffindor you are basically put in the middle of the danger." She sighed grasping my arms softly. "Please, be careful N/n."
"Okay, Narcissa. I'll be sure to be extra safe this year. I'll even look both ways before getting on the carriage." I smiled at her. She shook her head as she laughed and shooed me off.
I started to walk towards the luggage car when Draco caught up to me.
"Be careful, Dracy!" I said in Pansy Parkinson's voice, he groaned. All summer she had been sending him letters and howlers alike. I put my arm on his head like it was an arm rest. "Have fun this year, Draco. Don't make too many girls cry."
He shook his head and said, "Don't pull too many pranks, we don't want the Aurors to come to the school," he paused for a second. "again."
We got our luggage to the train and went our separate ways. I saw a red-headed boy, Percy, run through the barrier and started to walk that way to greet the Weasley's. Even though I'm related to the Malfoy's they still treat me like family. Ginny is the sister I have never had but always wanted, Ron is my wizard-chess buddy, the twins are my best friends, Percy and I study together every Wednesday for at least a hour, Charlie and I love to talk about dragons together and discuss how ill-treated they are, Bill and I talk about his adventures, Arthur and I talk about muggles and their inventions, and Molly and I cook meals when I'm at the Burrow. I love the Weasley's, I mean who in their right mind wouldn't?
Percy smiled at me when he saw me but went on his way to the train. I shifted the duffle bag on my shoulder than I had took from my cart. Ron and Harry followed shortly after Percy. Ron gave me a hug and Harry just waved as they went to find Granger.
Ginny can through the barrier next and squealed when she saw me. "Y/n! I missed you! I'm so excited, this is my second year!" She rambled on about how she had a lot of friends and about what The Gryffindor dorms for her year even though I had already been in it. A few minutes later Molly, Arthur, Fred, and George came through the barrier. Ginny kissed her mother's cheek and hugged me one last time before heading off.
"Y/n dear! I haven't seen you since Christmas break when you first got off the train!" Molly exclaimed. "You have got more beautiful, sweetheart! Ah, you are so skinny! A few extra pounds aren't bad for you, N/n! You need to come over more often!" Molly rambled on.
"Mum, you're going to suffocate the poor girl before she even has a chance to come over!" Fred exclaimed. Molly, realizing that she had been bear-hugging me, blushed slightly as she stepped back.
"It's not my fault you two don't invite her over anymore." She complains throwing her hands up on the air.
"Now sweetheart, she has been busy these past months." Arthur butted in, trying to stop the yelling before it happened. (This has happened before.)
A few minutes later the warning horn sounded telling all students to get on the train. The twins and I managed to get away from Molly and Arthur and find Lee. We got into a train car with barely anyone and took a seat in a carriage by Angelina.
Everything was fine until about a hour or two into the train ride. The train slowed down which was weird because we still had a while to go. People were screaming and it got cold and I mean really cold like, if there was a god of weather and they decided 'I'm going to give everyone on this train frostbite.' I started shaking, my teeth chattered slightly. I got up and peered out of our carriage, the sight terrified me. I had read all about dementors and how they guarded Azkaban but no book could ever prepare anyone for this. They floated around the corridors, one was about to float by our door when I was pulled back into the carriage. We all sat with our backs to the far wall.
The dementor passed our door and paused. It's head snapped around and looked directly at me. I sat there frozen as it pried the door open. The lock on the door broke as the door was flung/slid open. The dementor floated over to me and if they didn't look so terrifying I might have thought it was graceful. Everyone else had scooted away while I just sat there as the dementor started to suck the soul out of me. I felt my willingness for life fading quicker by the second. I felt limp as it got closer. In the distance I heard yelling and then finally a blast of light pulled the dementor off of me.
"Everybody back off, she is going to be okay. She just needs space." A voice said that I barely could render. I heard the sound of feet shuffling and then the voice said. "Y/n, Y/n wake up."
"Ugh..." I replied as I sat up. "Is it normal to feel like crap after being attacked by a dementor?" I asked rubbing my temples.
The voice chuckled. "Here, eat some chocolate. It'll help with the crappy feeling."
As soon as my vision focused I recognized the voice. "Remus?" I asked, taking the chocolate from him.
"Hey Y/n." He smiled as I took a huge bite of chocolate.
"What happened?" I asked him as I took another bite of the chocolate bar.
"I don't know. The dementor must have mistook you for your uncle." Remus said, turning to go. "Be careful this year."
"I'll try." I said then looked around.
Angelina was the first to come back in our carriage. Then George, Fred, and Lee who looked cautiously at me.
"Stop looking at me like I'm a bomb." I said crossing my arms.
"Sorry N/n." Lee said.
.
What I missed most about Hogwarts was the food. The house-elves made amazing food every year without fail. As I took my seat next of Lee and Angelina and across from George, I couldn't stop myself from looking around in awe.
"Y/n stop gawking, the first years are going to be here soon." Lee chuckled.
As I looked around one last time I smiled and for once, forgot about everything that had happened.
Okay that is that! Hope you enjoyed this chapter. There will be more coming soon so..... this is one of the longest chapters I've ever done without month breaks. I posted a fill in chapter so if you're confused go there and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
