Sugawara POV

I walked to my next class feeling tired, as usual. I had stayed reading late the night before and now I was regretting it. Then, I spotted y/n walking to her class and I felt my heart beating faster.

"Y/n, hi!"

The smile on her face was instant. "Hey!"

"See you later, then?" I said, referring to what she'd texted me.

"Actually, I'll tell you now" she said. "Would you like to go out with me? Again? Today after class."

"Yes!" My eyes brightened up.

"Great!" she said. "Then it's a date. A volleyball date. Is that okay with you?"

"More than okay!" I assured her, and she smiled. I could watch her smile forever.

The bell rang.

"I have to go to class, see you later," she said.

"Can't wait," and I left, too.

"Hinata, are you stupid?" Kageyama was yelling. "Jump when I set you the ball, not whenever you want!"

"Well, you need to be sure I see your signs!" Hinata complained.

Daichi sighed. They were essential for the team, but they didn't always get along. At least the rest of the team was doing good. Noya's saves were improving even more, Tanaka's spikes got better and even Tsukishima's blocks were more powerful.

Man, I loved this sport. And the team too, despite everything.

"Oh, Suga, I almost forgot," said Daichi, smiling mischievously. "Did you ask y/n out?"

"I did. I took her stargazing," I said.

"That's so romantic," commented Shimizu. "She's a great girl, you'd better treat her the way she deserves."

"You don't even have to say that. I'd never do anything to hurt her," I said, completely sure of myself. "Even if things don't end up working out."

"Don't say that," said Asahi. When did he get here?

"You'll do fine," Daichi said. "But don't you dare let this distract you from training."

"Of course not," I laughed.

"Wait, did you go on a date with y/n, Sugawara?" Nishinoya yelled.

Great, now everyone knows. "Yes, but it wasn't necessary to shout like that."

"Really?" said an excited Hinata. "She's so cool! And she likes volleyball! Nicely done, Sugawara."

Why did everyone have to give their opinion?

"You're lucky, Sugawara," said Tanaka. "When Kiyoko and I-"

"No," she said.

"Come on," I clapped my hands. "Let's clean up."

They started cleaning up, but Daichi wasn't going to let the matter drop that easily. "Why are you in such a hurry?"

"Yes, I am meeting y/n after this," I confessed.

"Second date already?"

"S-shut up! She asked..."

"Aaw, and you couldn't refuse," he teased, then turned serious. "You really like her, don't you?"

"I think I do, yeah. To be honest, I haven't thought about it much. I just enjoy her company so much. I love her laugh and when she talks about the things she likes, because her eyes shine when she's happy."

"And you haven't thought about it much?" he laughed. "Listen, Takeda sensei said he's going to try to arrange a training match with Nekoma."

"Really? That's great!" I said.

"We miss you on the court. I'm sure you'll be able to play if the cats come," he said.

"Thank you," I said with a sincere smile.

Y/n POV

When I arrived, he was already there.

"Sorry to keep you waiting," I said.

"Not at all, I got here two minutes ago," Suga received me with his usual smile.

"Let's go."

I mustered my courage and took him by the hand. I loved taking his warm hands in mine, which were usually cold.

The walk was not too long, but I enjoyed every second. I took him to a nearby park. The same we'd gone to on our previous date, but another part of it.

I took out the volleyball. "You ready?"

He put his bag on the floor next to mine and took the ball from me. "Whatever we're playing at, I'm winning."

"Ha! We'll see about that," I answered. Actually, he could probably beat me any time, but I wasn't going to make it easy for him.

At first, we just made some passes with the setting position and fooled around. I could clearly see his talent and experience, even though this wasn't an important match. Nevertheless, I wasn't that much behind.

Then, we played a weird one to one little match. It wasn't really a match, but we had so much fun. After a while, we decided to stop and sit on the grass.

"Well, we said we were going to play some time and we did," he said.

"We said that?" I didn't remember.

"Yes. You proposed it, actually. Don't you remember?"

"Oh, yeah. When we first met." He was talking about our first conversation. "We should do it again. But right now I'm knackered."

He offered some water, which I gladly took. I think I drank half the bottle.

We got up. "Look!" I said pointing at the horizon. "The sunset is beautiful."

"Yeah." He put an arm around me.

Every time he did something similar, he did it slowly. If I didn't want to or felt uncomfortable, I could put away his arms on time. I loved him for that, but I did want him to put his arms around me.

I rested my head on his shoulder and we stayed like that for a couple of minutes. I loved his scent.

He turned his head to face me. "Do you think we'll get to see a lot more of these sunsets together?"

I turned to face him, too. "I think it's up to us. I say we will. What do you say?"

"I say we will."

And he kissed me.

It was so short I didn't even have the time to react. He started to pull away slowly, but I connected our lips together again in a sweet kiss. His lips are soft. I couldn't really think of anything else. My brain had simply stopped working.

When we pulled away, I opened my eyes slowly and Suga joined our foreheads. It wasn't my first kiss, but it was the most special.

"I really like you," he said. "Have I told you that?"

"And I really like you, too," I answered. "Would you like to be my boyfriend?"

That had sort of slipped out. I hadn't meant to say that. I needed to learn to keep my mouth shut.

"I'd love to," he grinned and kissed me again. This time I responded, but the kiss was longer.

Or I could let my mouth talk whatever it wanted with results like this.

Eventually, he had to go, as it was getting dark, and we had to get up early the next day. It didn't really matter, though. I wasn't going to sleep much that night. Way too many things had happened today.
