Arkos: Forever Fall
I meant to post this yesterday on Valentine's Day but I didn't get a chance too. Whoops. Anyway I hope you enjoy it a day late.
"Hey Pyrrha," Jaune said sitting down, "how have you been?"
"I'm sorry I haven't come by in a while. It's been pretty crazy past couple of months."
A chilly fall air blew around him ruffling his blonde hair.
"Did I tell you Nora and Ren are expecting a baby? Ren told me it's twins. Nora's ecstatic."
He then looked down at the ground. Sometimes he felt stupid sitting out here talking to himself. Pretending she could hear him. The last time he had had a real conversation with Pyrrha was exactly fifteen years ago today.
Jaune and Pyrrha were having a conversation about what happened in the vault at Beacon when suddenly their conversation was interrupted by an explosion, followed by Cinder using fire to fly up through the elevator shaft. The two teens stared at the tower in surprise.
"But... Ozpin..." Jaune had said.
"There's no time." Pyrrha shook her head, then looked at Jaune, quickly adopting a determined tone. "Go. Get to Vale and call for help."
"Huh? What are you gonna do?" He'd asked his redheaded partner.
Pyrrha slowly turned her head to stare up at the top of Beacon Tower. Following her gaze, Jaune realized what she planned to do.
"No... no, Pyrrha, you can't. You saw how powerful she is! Pyrrha, I won't let you do-"
Suddenly, Pyrrha grabbed Jaune's head in both hands and silenced him with a long kiss on the lips. After a moment of hesitation, he gently pulled her in and returned the kiss, while Pyrrha slightly raised her foot behind her. She then pulled away, ending the kiss, and stared into his eyes, one hand on his cheek and the other on his chest.
"I'm sorry," she said her voice full of sorrow.
She then used her semblance on his armor, pushing him directly into a nearby locker, which slammed shut from the impact.
"Hey! Wait! Stop, stop! Pyrrha, please don't do this!" Jaune begged.
While Jaune pleaded Pyrrha walked over to the locker and began typing coordinates into it. She looked him in the eyes one last time, before stepping back and watching the locker fly away.
A few days later Jaune had found out that Pyrrha didn't survive her fight against Cinder. After that he began sinking into a depression, wishing that he could've been there to protect her. Or that he had died instead of her.
Jaune felt a few tears run down his cheeks, "Sorry Pyrrha. I just miss you. I wish you could be here with us."
"Daddy?" He heard a voice say.
Jaune turned around and saw a young girl with straight blonde hair and silver eyes.
"Hey...Pyrrha," Jaune said smiling slightly.
His daughter, Pyrrha Autumn Arc, named for her mother and father's fallen friend ran over to him with a bouquet of flowers in her hand.
"Mommy said she'd knew you'd be here. So she told me to bring you these."
The blonde man chuckled and took the roses from the girl's hands. "Thank you."
Little Pyrrha smiled, happy that she made her father laugh.
Jaune laid the flowers on the gravestone, "Now c'mon let's go home before your mother wonders where we went."
Pyrrha nodded and began walking out of the cemetery.
The man then cast one more look over his shoulder, "Same time next year? Great...I'll see you then."
Jaune then followed behind his daughter. But if only he had waited a second later he would've seen Pyrrha sitting on her headstone, wearing the same armor she did in the battle of Beacon. The only exception was a pair of shimmering white wings on her back.
"I'll be here. I love you Jaune," Pyrrha said, blowing him a kiss before vanishing in a flurry of fall leaves.
