I'm Liza

I'm Liza Koshy. I come from a very poor family and I don't have that much in my life. On the other hand, my best friend Gabbie has a mansion and is one of the richest girls in my school. I don't know why she's still hanging out with me when she can obviously hang out with all the popular kids.

It's 7 o'clock. It's monday. Another monday. Which means another terrible week. But I go to school because of one reason: I feel like all the other kids. Normal. I have a normal life and I'm not the girl who doesn't have anything. No one besides Gabbie knows I live in a tiny house and barely have money for anything. And no one bullies be. My life would be ruined if somebody found out.

I get up and get dressed. My closet is very small as my family doesn't have much money to buy me all of the expensive clothes all the other kids are wearing.

I go down to the kitchen where my mom is drinking coffee. "Good morning sweetheart. Dad's off to work." My mom said. My dad is working in a factory and doesn't get paid a lot. But that's all he can do. My mom doesn't even have a job. She has major problems with her knee and that's why she can't really work anywhere exept an office. But they won't let her.

"Good morning mom. I'm off to school." I said and started walking to the door when my mom stopped me.

"Why don't you eat something?" She asked. I always feel bad eating at home because then my mom and dad never have enough.

"I'm not hungry." I said and walked out. I have a bus stop next to my house. But we can't afford to pay for a bus right now. So I have to walk to school.

A man bumped into me. "Watch out loser. I'm trying to walk here."

"I'm sorry." I said eventhough he bumped into me. "Smile Liza. Just smile." I mumbled out. I always say 'smile' when something goes wrong.

When I came to school I saw Gabbie waiting for me. "You finally decided to show up!" She shouted so that I could hear her well. When I came to her I gave her a sad look. "I'm kidding." She said as she hugged me. Gabbie was the only person in the school that didn't make fun of me for wearing the same clothing almost the whole week. It would be even worse if they knew where I live.

"How was your weekend?" I asked Gabbie. She looked at me with a weird look. She never looked at me like that before. It was weird.

"It's not important." Gabbie said. "Let's talk about something else." She said. I didn't know why she wanted to change the topic so much. It wasn't like normal Gabbie.

"If you wanna change the topic like that it must be important." I said. We walked in the school building and Colleen aproached us (p.s. i love Colleen as a youtuber but I feel like she would be an amazing Regina George of the school).

"Hey Gabbie. Saturday was lit. Right?" Colleen said. It felt like she was saying that in a tone that would annoy me. "Sorry Lizer. I forgot you weren't there. So sad." She said. I hated it when she called me Lizer. It's even worse than loser. She walked away and I turned to Gabbie.

"Did you seriously do something with HER!?" I asked angry. I was annoyed. She told me a ton of times she doesn't want anything with her and her friends.

"You got me. Yes, I was at her house on Saturday. She invited me to her birthday party. Sorry." She said and almost broke down in tears. I hugged her.

"Why wouldn't you wanna tell me?" I asked confused.

"Because I thought you would get mad at me." She replied.

"I am mad, but I'm not gonna ignore you for the rest of the day. You can live your life how you want." I said. The bell rang. "See you at lunch." I said and she waved goodbye. I remembered I have maths now. I hate maths. And Colleen will be there. Horrible. Just horrible.
