Lance didn't realize it before, but apparently biology was the most boring class at his high school.
It was only the first day and he was already falling asleep in class.
Finally, after what felt like years of listening to his teacher speak about class expectations he was saved by the bell.
He sprinted out of the room, pushed the door open and was halfway down the hall when he hit someone. Hard.
For the second time today.
He looked up to see what had caused him to land on his ass. For the second time.
"Yo! McLain! My man how ya been!" The giant football player in front of him held his hand down towards Lance and pulled him up.
"Zain Green... How are you...?" Lance brushed himself off... A little stunned. He smiled at the dirty blonde, gazing upwards to meet his eyes.
"I'm alright... Busy summer..." Zain seemed as if he were about to continue, but the bell cut him off. He took a step around Lance and bang jogging away.
"Sit with me and my bros today man." And with that, the 6'4 football player jogged away. And Lance didn't have a chance to say no.

"Here at Lewis High we follow a strict 0 bullying, cyber bullying, and violence policy. In this class we will continue to go in depth on what it means to be a Lewis Lion! Please take your seats."
With that Lance sat down in the second row, and through his stuff under his desk.
Every student at the school was forced to take this class. The course worked on kindness and compassion, but most people saw it as a waste of time. It was supposedly started because some parent or guardian of some kid reported the school to the police for an unsafe environment after their child was wounded. However no one really knows what happened.
The seat ahead if him shook slightly. Pidge Stoker had claimed the desk. He smiled at Lance awkwardly, then turned back around. Only a few seconds later, the seat next to Lance was filled by a bandana wearing teenager. Hunk Garret.
Very few people could say the two boys real first names, so at the start of junior high they began going by their middle names.
Lance hadn't spoken to either of them since about the 8th grade... When he first became friends with Zain and some of the other football boys. Hunk and Pidge claimed they didn't fit in with that crowd... And the friendship deceased. Lance really did miss them. However Hunk and Pidge thought basically the exact opposite.
Finally after their Lion way class ended, all three awkwardly walked around each other and exited the room.
Lance ran off to his locker to drop his stuff off before heading for the cafeteria.
"I just don't think he's the same anymore" Pidge explained to Hunk. "He ditched us for the cool kids." Pidge heavily emphasized the last two words as they glared at the brunette boy jogging ahead.
"Don't you think it's time to move on? He's not the best guy... But that doesn't mean that we can't be the bigger person" Hunk said with a shrug. Pidge just shook his head.
"He cares more about his Instagram followers and that stupid prom royalty thing than friends Hunk. I'm not wasting my time on someone so shallow". Pidge was still angry at Lance for what happened when they were friends, in fact he might always be. Lance screwed them over.
And he didn't even know it.

As Lance pushed open a set of blue double doors he saw Zain and the rest of his friends eating outside. The burning hot air hit him immediately and he could smell the ocean. As he lifted his hand to shield his eyes from the sun, he walked to a long picnic table where his friends sat. He took a seat, setting his phone and a textbook on the table. He hadn't seen any of them over the summer so the second he sat down he was attacked by questions about his surf competitions, family, former girlfriends etc.
As many of the boys left to get to class, Lance and Zain sat chatting. Lance paused the intriguing conversation about Zain's "exotic" girlfriend in New Zeland for only a second to throw something away. As he rushed back to the table, swinging his legs over the bench he saw Zain on his phone. Which didn't really matter, the guys did this all the time to hit up girls on snapchat or mess around.
However when Zain's jaw dropped Lance got butterflies. What could be on his phone?
"So you do have a girlfriend" Zain said with a smirk.

Keith found lunch to be the most repulsing hour of the school day. And that was saying something.
He had to sit, surrounded by people who he was afraid to talk to, pissed him off, or just didn't smell good. He sat silently, on the middle of one of the long tables.
Students of several different clubs were already hanging posters, announcing all kinds of activities soon to take place. Including homecoming.
Keith was uninterested in all of that. He was only at school to graduate, and his day was already long enough anyway. After his final class he would have to drive over to the supermarket and complete his shift.
Keith was deep in his thoughts about the day when a warm hand landed on his shoulder.
"Hello Mr Kogane" a kind voice said. Keith looked up to the girl with a smile. Finally, a person he actually liked.
Allura was like a sister to him. They had grown up as neighbors until Keith and Shiro were forced to move away from their parents. And now because of Keith brother Allura was around all the time.
"Are you coming over tonight?" Keith said, keeping his voice quiet.
This would sound weird to anyone passing by, so he tried to keep quiet. It would sound horribly weird for a sophomore to invite a student teacher to his house.. But of course the college junior wouldn't be coming over for Keith, but for his brother.
"I think I'll stop by... Shiro is making sushi" Allura said with a smile. Her long pink earrings shook as she sad next to Keith.
"as always" Keith said with an eye roll.
Allura and Keith talked for at least half of the lunch period before they were interrupted.
"Hey Keith... Is this seat taken?" Keith turned his head to look at the owner of the deep male voice.
It was Hunk. Allura smiled and quickly excused herself, a surprised look on her face "see you later Keith" she said with a strange expression. Keith knew why she was giving him that look,
He was just spoken to by a teenage boy. Shiro and Allura were really Keith's only friends. Not even that- Shiro was just his brother.
Allura was probably awestruck by the small gesture Hunk made... And didn't want to mess such a rare occasion up.
"No not at all" Keith said, stunned that the boy even asked. They hadn't talked in a very long time. Keith always kept to himself and the only time he had ever really spoke to Hunk was when he was still friends with Lance.
But that was in about 7th or 8th grade.
"How was your summer? How's everything with you lately?" Hunk asked. Keith knew he was a sweet guy, and it actually would be nice to be friends with him... Keith just wasn't good at the social thing. He seemed to always come across as rude.
"Everythings alright" Keith said with a shrug. Then he noticed that there was something missing
"Where's pidge?" Keith questioned.
"He just doesn't really enjoy food as much as me. I would assume he is messing around in the science lab or practicing the Pythagorean Theorem" hunk shrugged and took a bite of his burger.
Keith and Hunk talked for a while. About family, the weather, all kinds of average small talk topics. And Keith actually had a lot of fun.
Keith happened to look out one of the wide cafeteria windows. There he saw Lance with bright red cheeks, talking to Zain. Lance peered through the glass and made eye contact with Keith.
Keith would've thought he looked cute... If he wasn't such a douche.
Such a cute arrogant douche.
-
"So who's Quinn" Zain said with a smirk. Lance's cheeks felt as if they were on fire.
"N-no one..." Lance avoided eye contact.
"Oh really? Her name has heart emojis by it and everything..." Zain began to stand up as he read the texts between Lance and the mystery person.
"Ooh on July 10 she said she had fun.. With a heart! Did you go on a date Miller?" Zain smirked at the tan boy. "Why are you so embarrassed! I bet she's hot". Zain began typing a text to Quinn, and Lance hurried to peek over his shoulder. His palms were sweating... But he couldn't act too nervous, or Zain would know something was up.
Lance: hey❤️send a picture I need to see your face
Before Lance could grab the phone Quinn sent the flirty text.
Damnit.
Lance was freaking out on the inside. He couldn't let Zain text Quinn... At least Anymore.
"H-uh s-she's at school right now... There's no way she'll answer." Lance tried to hide the relief with disappointment.
Right as he said that there was a text bubble.
"Of course" Lance breathed under his breath. The two boys waited for the text.
The five minute bell rang and Lance had never been more relieved.
"Oh got to go!" He said attempting to grab his phone.
Zain moved it just in time, and right as he did, the photo sent.
Zain began to gush over the girl immediately "Wow dude she is ho-"
But then he took a closer look at the picture.
"McLain... Is that a boy....?"
