Part 5: Bookstore
I was so giddy and smiley when I got to school Kame thought I’d taken some Joker laughing gas(some comic humor). “Kame, my cousin is going to take the whole team and I up to his college and help train us. I mean, we’re already pretty good, but he’s also gonna train me!”
“If you don’t mind me asking, why is he gonna train you?”
“Huh. Good point. I guess because Momoi told him to I guess.” A bolt seemed to go right through me. I grabbed my now fiery cheeks. “Do-do you think she told him to because she wanted me to get closer to Daiki-kun?!” Kame grabbed my shoulders and looked me dead in the eyes and said, “Most definitely.”
“Baka! How is that supposed to help me.” I cried as we entered the locker room to the gym. As we changed Kame said, “I didn’t say it would help. I merely stated the fact that Momoi probable spilled everything to you cousin. I know I would~” She teased. I sighed. What was I going to do! Then the perfect comeback came to mind.
“Well, I’ll bet that when I’m gone you’ll be trying to get Midorima to be your boyfriend.” Kame’s face was inflamed with a blush. I pushed a little farther. “Oh, yes, I can see it now. You two holding hands on a picnic blanket as the sun sets. Then he’ll lean in telling you how wonderful and lovely you are and then...” I made a smooching sound with my lips. “You kiss til the cows come home!” I giggled at the horrifyingly pink face Kame had.
“That’s--that’s nothing like what Midorima and I have planned for this weekend!” I stopped right in my tracks. “You mean you guys are actually going out? Together?” I asked in shock. “Y-yeah. I was gonna tell ya but, I didn’t want you to think poorly of me or anything....” I smiled.
“You silly goose. Come on. Get you hair tied up, we need to get out there before we get in trouble. By the way, could you come over before I’m picked up to go to the college?”
“Sorry, I’ve got to help with dinner tonight.” I nodded, in total understanding as we left the locker room. Little did we know that a certain pinkette was listening in on the whole thing with a devilish smile on her face.
Time skip
“Aw, nothing ever happens in here when I want it to.” I sighed as I set my head on the desk. Just as I was beginning to think that the boredom was going to consume me the bell on the door rang. I looked up to see a man with a baggy beige jacket on. He had dark hair and a matching mustache. I also couldn’t see his eyes because of the big, black sunglasses he had on.
“Hello sir. Is there anything I can help you with.” I said, with a smile. The man jumped as if he didn’t notice me til now. “U-uh, yes. I-I’m... looking for a book... for my niece!” Wow, this man is really jumpy.
“Well what does your niece like? Any kind of genre she prefers?” I asked.
“She likes.... romance novels... I think. There’s one that she really wants and I can’t remember the name of it.”
“Well, what’s it about? I’ve read every book in here. I can probably find it.” I said, as I ushered him to the romance section.
“Uh-umm... A dark price that captures the heart of some shy girl.” I was shocked. “I know exactly what your talking about.” I smiled as I looked at the top shelf. I jumped and grabbed it off the shelf. “Here you are sir. I hope she likes it.” I said, as I offered him the book. “Who?”
I looked at him skeptically. “Your niece. I hope she’ll like the book.”
“Oh! Right, yeah.” I escorted him to register and rung up the book. All the while I could feel his eyes on me. When I handed him the book and asked, “Is there anything else I can help you with sir?”
“Well, this may be an awkward thing to ask but, could I take your picture? That way, if she likes the book she’ll know what you look like and be able to thank you herself.” It seemed harmless. It was just a picture, so I agreed. The man thanked me and left. It was about 8 when he left. Which meant I only had an hour to low things in a bag and get ready(yay math!).
I sighed and turned the sign to closed and waited for Tanaka to pick me up. I’d decided to wait on the bench outside to make sure Tanaka could see me when he pulled up. I knew I’d have to wait a while, but I enjoyed sitting under the stores canopy and watching the cars go by. Suddenly a voice said, “Hey, Hinata, what’s up?” I turned, knowing exactly who it was.
Aomine’s POV
“Why are you making me do this momoi?” I asked as she was placing a mustache onto my face. “You are going to go into Sunny Side Books and somehow get a picture of Hinata on your phone.”
“How is that supposed to help me?” I complained. Momoi gave a pouty face. “Because, I talked to her friend and since she agreed to help you in secret. She said that if you have a picture of her as your screensaver you’ll have a higher chance of making her your girlfriend!”
I groaned. “But that’s such a stupid thing to believe. What are you? In middle school?”
“Shut up! You want her to go out with you and this is just something I thought would boost your chances. So suck it up and go get that picture!” She said as she pushed me out of the bathroom. Yep, we were in a family restroom, right in the same park me and Hinata first met... not that that matters.... much.
“Knock her dead, I’ll be here waiting.” Momoi said, before she shut the door. I sighed. This was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I sighed as I walked to the book store. I gulped before opening the door.
“Hello sir. Is there anything I can help you with.” Hinata said, with a smile. I jumped, I didn’t think she’d come to me. “U-uh, yes. I-I’m... looking for a book... for my niece!” Wow, real smooth genius.
“Well what does your niece like? Any kind of genre she prefers?” She asked.
“She likes.... romance novels... I think.” Really? That’s the best thing I could think of?! “There’s one that she really wants and I can’t remember the name of it.” Good cover.
“Well, what’s it about? I’ve read every book in here. I can probably find it.” She ushered me to the romance side of the store.
I thought of the perfect book. And I knew she’d know it. “Uh-umm... A dark price that captures the heart of some shy girl.” She looked shocked. “I know exactly what your talking about.” Knew it! Suddenly, she jumped and grabbed it off the shelf. I was shocked. It was just like that day after school. With that shot. “Here you are sir. I hope she likes it.” I was so flustered by her jump that I could only say, “Who?”
“Your niece. I hope she’ll like the book.”
“Oh! Right, yeah.” I took the book and had her ring it up for me. I couldn’t stop looking at her. When she gave me back my book she asked, “Is there anything else I can help you with sir?”
Okay this was my chance. “Well, this may be an awkward thing to ask but, could I take your picture? That way, if she likes the book she’ll know what you look like and be able to thank you herself.” Hinata shrugged and agreed to the picture. I took it and nearly ran out of there, all the way back to Momoi.
“Did ya get it?” I nodded showing her the picture. “Good now set it as your screensaver.” I pushed some buttons and sighed. “There, now what?”
“Now,” She ripped off my mustache. Which stung like a bitch. “We get you out of your disguise and go get picked up with Hinata. I’ll meet up with you guys at the collage. So go!” And she pushed me back in the direction I’d come and I sighed. Great.
Hinata’s POV
I turned towards the voice that had greeted me. “Oh, hey Aomine! What are you doing here?” I asked.
He looked around. “Well, this is where Momoi said that the bus was going to pick us up, but it seems like it’s just you and me.” He smiled. I blushed. “Um, Aomine....” I shakily reached into my bag and pulled out a small box. “Here!” I practically shoved the box into his chest. My blush darkened a little.
Diaki opened the box skeptically and smiled as he opened it. “Cool. A teriyaki burger.” I played with my fingers nervously. “Yeah, well, I did say I’d make one for you.”
He took a big bite out of it and said, “Thanks Busty.” I think I heard my heart crack a little. I knew his good mood was too good to be true. I sighed. “Hey look, the bus.” Daiki said, mouth full of burger. I looked passed Daiki and sure enough there was the bus with Momoi sticking her head out the window waving to us. When the bus pulled up the doors opened and I saw that Tanaka was in the driver’s seat. “All aboard!” he said with a smile.
“Here, let me help you with your bags.” Tanaka offered as he pushed a button that opened the cargo hold. “That’s okay, I’ve got it.” I threw my stuff into the hold and hopped onto the bus. I sat right behind Tanaka. That’s when I noticed Tanaka and Daiki giving each other dirty looks. I sighed. This was going to be a long trip.
