Part 4: Cake and Nicnames
“What do you mean Momoi’s gone?!” I shouted. I was so panicked that I felt like ripping out my hair! “Yeah, she dropped off this cake and said that she was going to do some recognises and that you were in charge for todays practice.” said Imayoshi. My head was spinning.
What was I supposed to do? I don’t know anything about basketball! “Hey who made this cake?” Someone asked. I looked up to see the boys around my cake. “Me and Momoi did.” I said shyly. All the boys mouths fell. “Momoi cooked something good?!” They all shouted.
“Um, well I mean she got the ingredients and read them off to me, but I did the rest.” They all seemed to be relieved. “Good, it she had made this and it was good, we’d thought that she was possessed or something.” Someone laughed. “Yeah. Momoi can’t cook to save her life. And it’s too bad that Aomine is missing out on your really good cake Hinata!” That last sentence broke me out of my trance fully. “Where is Aomine?” I asked.
The boys shrugged. “That moron sometime skips out on practices.”
“Then I’ll go find him!” I declared. “Boys, do some weave drills and practice your jump shots. I’ll be right back, promise!” I shouted the last part as I took off towards the school building. The only place I could think he could be was the roof, considering that was the last place I saw him. When I reached the roof I climbed that ladder to the top to see Daiki sleeping peacefully with a magazine over his face.
I went to him and picked up his magazine, only to be completely horrified at what I saw. It was an Idol magazine! My face went red and my mind was screaming, “Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope noppity nope nope!” Before I knew it, I had relinquished the magazine to dust. Then Daiki started to sture.
“Hey... Aomine, we need you down at practice.” I said, trying to collect myself. “Tch, I don’t need to go to practice, and if you don’t mind, your boobs are blocking my sun.” I blushed. “E-excuse me?!”
“Well, as much as I love big boobs, your are currently blocking my sunshine, so please leave me alone.” I stomped my foot. “Excuse me? You had a magazine over your face and I’M the one blocking you sun?” I started pulling on him to get him up. “You have to come to practice!”
“Fine.” In a flash he stood up, causing me to lose my footing. I waited to feel the sudden stop of the concrete, but I didn’t. Instead I felt two strong arms around my hips. I slowly lifted my head and was a mere inch from my long time crushes face. “Tch, you should be more careful. Having me save you like this again.”
“Again?” I asked. Aomine seemed taken aback by his own words. He let go of me and put his smirk back on his face. “I just meant that you seem like the type that needs to be saved a lot.” I sighed. “Fine, whatever, but you're going to miss out on some really good cake I made.” And with that I exited the roof and went back to the gym.
“Hey guys, sorry it took--” I stopped dead in my tracks. Momoi was in the gym with a tall man that I recognized right away. It was my cousin Tanaka!
“Tanaka!” I yelled as I jumped at him. I kissed his cheek and he put me down. “I can’t believe that you’re here! Did Momoi bring you or--?”
“Hey, did you really make this Busty?” Daiki’s voice echoed through the gym, and I could feel Tanaka grow very angry at the little nickname he just gave me. I looked over to see Daiki munching away at my cake. “It’s pretty good.” Tanaka seemed very much so to go to Daiki, but I placed a hand on his chest, giving him a warning look. “Yes Aomine, I did make it, and thank you for the compliment.” I then looked back at Tanaka and said, “Tanaka, now that Momoi is here, will you escort me home? And definatly tell me how college is.”
I could feel all the other boys burning holes in Tanaka as we walked out the door. When we were a few feet away I gave a huge sigh. “Sorry about that.”
“So that was the fantastic Daiki I’ve heard everything about?” Tanaka snorted. “Are you sure you're not sick?” He placed a hand on my forehead. I swatted his hand away. “Shut up. You just caught Daiki on a bad day, that’s all. Besides, why are you here? And what’s happening in college?”
“Well,” Tanaka rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. “Ya see, you know how I got a basketball scholarship, well your friend Momoi came to me and asked if I’d help coach you and the team.”
“Yeah that’ll be-- Wait, what? What’s this about training me? I’m just an assistant.”
“True, but Momoi says you’ve got potential, so I agreed to help you guys out a little. We start tomorrow. I’ll be driving everyone in the college bus after school and we’ll spend the weekend at the college training.”
“Wow! You’re the best cousin ever!” I hugged him tightly. “Ye gods! I need to pack! And you need to tell mom that you're here!” I took his hand and I dragged him all the way to the bookstore.
Aomine’s POV
Damn college boy. I thought as I munched on the cake Hinata made. What makes him so special that he gets a kiss on the cheek! My body felt like it was on fire.
“Dai-chan? Are you jealous?” Momoi asked as we walked home. I stabbed the cake. “No! What makes you think I’d be jealous of a college guy! He’s way too old for her!” Momoi giggled. “See! I told you that you liked her!”
“Yeah, so what?!”
“So you need to ask her out. We both know she’d say yes.”
“And you know this how?”
“Oh, I don’t know. Probable because you saved her life and of her crazy friend who believes everything about the stars and matchy matchness.” I gave a skeptical look. Momoi sighed. “Fine, ask her out tomorrow or something. I don’t care. Good night Dai-chan!” Momoi walked into her house and then I walked into mine.
Does she still like me? After all this? And just who is that Baka college guy?!
