Surprise
When Sean woke up, he was surprised when he heard the pilot announce something about them landing soon, making him glad he woke up when he did.
I feel like I just travelled through time, Jack thought wearily to himself as he blinked a couple of times to try and wake himself up, glancing out the window. The the sun was shining brightly in the sky with no clouds in the sky.
His head was still resting on Signe's shoulder, although now her head was resting on top of his. Her expression was peaceful while she slept, and Jack didn't want to disturb her. Instead, he sat there with his head trapped under Signe's, even though his neck was cramping.
Eventually the pain became unbearable, so he decided to risk it and try to free his head.
"Ow ow ow," Jack hissed to himself as he cautiously tried moving his head out from under hers. He felt her jolt awake by the movement, her head shooting up as she blearily glanced around her as if she had forgotten they were on a plane.
"Hey babe, we're landing soon." Sean informed her, glancing down at the half drawn picture she had started. He could tell that it was a picture of him sleeping, a small smirk on his face with his knit cap covering his eyes and most of his hair.
"Nice picture by the way." Sean smirked as Signe's face flushed a light red hue.
She stored her art supplies back in her bag once the plane landed while Sean lowered their suitcases from the overhead baggage rack onto the floor.
"Thank you for flying with us, we hope you enjoyed your flight." A stewardess smiled as they walked off.
Sean walked hand in hand with Signe out of the airport, finding another taxi to take them to a car rental place.
After much debating, Sean reluctantly agreed to rent a neon green Mini Cooper, even though it was, well...mini.
They barely managed to cram their luggage in the back before they drove towards the hotel they were staying at.
Sean had several hours until he would have to go to Pax East for his panel, which would give him plenty of time to sleep more and hang out with friends.
When they arrived at the hotel they were staying at, they were excited to see Amy and Mark in the lobby as well.
The lobby itself was simple, the floor made of pine wood with a fireplace lounge area and walls covered by black wallpaper with swirling patterns.
"Hey Mark!" Sean ran up to Mark in excitement and hugged him, catching him off guard and causing him to release his grip on his suitcase and fall onto his back.
"Ow, hey Jack." Mark grimaced, rubbing the back of his head where it hit the floor.
"Sorry, just really excited I guess." Sean apologized sheepishly as he offered Mark a hand to help him up.
"I could tell." Mark gladly accepted the offer, reassuringly patting Sean on the back.
Mark and Sean could hear Amy and Signe giggling about something, and they were mortified to see that they had taken a picture of them on the floor, Sean on top of Mark.
"Oh I'm definitely keeping this." Amy nodded in satisfaction, holding her phone over her head to keep it out of reach of Mark.
"Fine." Mark huffed with mock irritation, unable to keep the amused grin off of his face.
"What room are you guys staying in?" Signe asked, her voice tinged with hope.
"Room two-hundred sixty-seven." Mark stated.
"We're two-hundred and sixty-five!" Signe and Amy squealed in excitement while Mark and Sean rolled their eyes at them.
"Girls." They mouthed to each other as Signe started dragging Sean towards the elevator so they could get to their room.
While Sean and Mark talked to each other about recent video games they played, Amy and Signe caught each other up on how life was for the other until the elevator arrived on their floor.
"You've never played Night In The Woods?" Sean gasped in surprise.
"Yeah, not really my kind of game. Besides, I'm really into One Shot." Mark defended himself.
"That's basically the same thing!" Sean argued.
Mark only shrugged in reply.
"You two have been getting billions of messages from the fans saying that you guys should get married too?" Signe asked Amy.
"Yeah, it's sweet, but also a bit..." Amy trailed off, unable to find the right word.
"Much?" Signe smiled sympathetically.
Amy nodded as the two couples went I to their own rooms to unpack.
The inside of the room had a black carpet and the same wallpaper they saw in the lobby. The beds were blanketed by white covers and sheets, a flatscreen tv facing the two queen size beds.
"Got any plans for after the panel?" Signe asked Sean as she slid her mostly unpacked suitcase under the bed to make sure no one tripped over it.
"I was thinking about getting dinner with you, Amy, Mark, Bob, Wade, Ethan, and Tyler." Sean listed off the names of his friends that he knew he would see.
"Sounds fun." Signe hung her arms over Sean's shoulder, kissing him on the cheek before helping him finish unpacking.
By the time they finished unpacking, ate food brought to them from room service, and took a thirty minute nap, it was time for Sean to go get ready for his panel.
"Break a leg, Amy and I will be watching!" Sean read Mark's text aloud in the car with a smile. It was reassuring to know that he would be there.
As soon as he arrived, he dashed backstage to warm his voice up and get his mic. After about five minutes, he was told to go stand in the side of the stage where he would be entering from.
"I think the fans are excited." Signe told Sean with a smirk.
Even though they were both backstage, they could clearly hear the fans screaming in front of the stage in either excitement or impatience.
Probably both.
"Ready to go?" A security guard asked Sean.
Sean nodded eagerly, taking a deep breath as someone from the tech booth introduced Sean, the voice reverberating throughout the spacious room as his fans quieted down.
"Break a leg." Signe reassuringly squeezed his hand as he took a step towards the stage.
That was when the lights went out.
