Untitled Part 1
Years and years ago, a file surfaced on the internet. It was attached in emails, social media comments, etc. Nobody knew that this file was definitely not harmless, and that's the horror of it.
>Class, free time
Our work was done, so we got a little time off. I decided to check my email, and I had seven new messages. A lot were from an old friend, two from the school, and the last was from an unknown address. I had a sense of uneasiness when I looked at the subject:
:)
And in the body, it said- "Just spreading the word." Yet another chill was sent up my spine as I looked at the bottom- and attached file...
Smile.jpg.
Unknowingly, I opened the file and almost screamed.
I stared into the Husky's eyes, unable to look away. It was only a picture, but deep down inside me, I felt something snap. Just a faint little pop. And that was it.
>Home, yard
I couldn't stop thinking about the dog all day. What was it? Why was it smiling like that? I stared at the autumn leaves beneath me, and decided I would make a pile of them to take my mind off the dog. The tree behind me gradually dropped more and more leaves for my pile. As the pile was almost finished, I felt a whoosh of cold air. I felt like I was being watched. I wanted to run into the house, but it was behind me, the direction from which I felt I was being stared at. I finally turn around, and there's nothing there. So I turn back around and find a husky staring at me straight in the eyes. I can't move. I can't cry for help. Another soft pop went through my head.
"Hello. My name is Smile Dog." The dog was somehow speaking, depite not moving in the slightest bit. "Tell me. What is your name?" I thought, Paris. "So, Paris, do you know anything about me?" I was terrified.
"I... People have been... talking about you..." I could barely speak. The dog asked me another question.
"Have you spread the word?" I was confused. Then, my mind flicked back to the email- "just spreading the word".
"So. You came across me in an email? Fascinating." It was about to ask me another when my mother called me in for dinner. The dog flashed a sinister, humanlike grin, then fled.
>Home, bedroom
That night I couldn't sleep. As soon as I closed ,y eyes, I could only see the dog, staring into my soul. I saw it ripping apart human flesh, the victim still alive and screaming. Everything was red. Blood was on the floors and walls. Then, the dog turned to look at me, blood dripping from its chin, and smiled.
"Spread the word, Paris."
>School, before class
I looked at my inbox. "Just spreading the word." This whole ordeal was terrifying, but to get rid of it, I have to spread the word. Can I stand to burden someone else? Can I spread the word?
Yes.
Yes, I can.
:)
