Trees
Trees. The life source that let's us breathe. Not only is it the life source but it's also one of the most terrifying things when in a cluster.
Tall, dark trees loom over my head. The bellow of various critters and small animals echoing and bouncing from tree to tree. A thick fog lay ahead, limiting my sight.
I trudged slowly across the green grass which had a slight shine due to the minimal frost which had occurred the day prior. As I trudged along I could see my own breath - like a dragon breathing out fire.
I continued walking along this unknown path when suddenly I thought - why am I in the middle of the forest in the first place? - My confusion settled within me, causing me to become slightly nervous.
A low grumble slightly shook the ground beneath me. I quickly turned around to see what caused this movement, yet my mind seemed to forget - my view was limited due to the fog.
I quickly turned back around and quickened my pace through the woodland. A bigger grumble shook the ground - causing me to become unbalanced and fall over. I frightfully looked up and looked around me - nothing!
I slowly brought myself back to my feet and held my arms close to me; a slight whimper escaped me as I helplessly looked around for a way out. I slowly moved my shaking leg - one foot in front of another.
My gaze burned from the tears; my shaking legs were beginning to ache. This time no grumble brought me to my knees - I fell on my own.
My whimpers had escalated into sobs as I cradled myself on the frosted ground. The sound of critters and small animals being completely silenced - no grumble to be heard.
My sobs had softened as I looked around me. Something fluttered besides me which captured my attention. I looked besides me and grabbed this small piece of paper. It read, 'Why don't you finish what you started?' - besides the note lay a tree trunk which oddly looked like a hand.
Confused, I grabbed the hand out of curiosity- eager to leave this nightmare. The tree branch latched onto me and started to drag me - I screamed out of fear, trying to latch onto the frosted grass. The grass ripped at my touch causing me to move faster - the tree branch continuing to drag me at rapid speed.
Then darkness.
Saturday news report!
"Another body was found in the woods again. That brings the body count to 500 - just like the amount of trees that have been chopped down.
Now think what you will but this can't just be a coincidence, or can it?"
