The Final One.
"Well, I'm glad things have gotten resolved, Lady Palutena." Pit said happily.
"Me too, Pit."
"FINALLY THINGS ARE GETTING BETTER." Marth yelled. He only just learned of the situation about an hour ago.
"Well, not all things have gotten better." Palutena said quietly. Pit and Marth looked at her questioningly.
Palutena motioned the two's focus to Link, who sat on the couch. "This whole Malon situation is still on-going."
"For quite a while!" Pit stated.
"Wait, this is the last chap-"
"I wonder what will happen." Palutena whispered.
"Who knows, all we have left is the end of this chapter." Marth commented.
Suddenly Roy came running down the stairs and met the trio. "Hey guys?"
"Yeah?"
"The toilet's clogged."
"Make Ike take care of it."
"Okay."
"But what should we do?" Palutena asked. "Maybe take Malon into the trunk of our car and drop her off in Canada? Slap the shit out of her?! God, I suddenly feel pumped to beat her ass!!"
"Now, calm down," Marth said. "Zelda knows what's necessary and what's not. She absolutely knows whats best for her."
"Yeah, but, she's waiting too long... Besides, how long has this been going on? Three... four weeks?!"
Marth sighed. "We'll just have to wait and see."
~~
"Hey..."
Link turned around to the voice that called him.
"Yeah, Zel?"
Zelda sat down besides him on the couch. "Where were you yesterday? You missed out on some group stuff we did... we even put on your favorite movie! Why did you bail on us?"
"Ugh, Zel, I'm sorry. It's just, Malon wanted me to hang out with her yesterday? I guess her pig is sick or something... She said that's the pig has been sick for a while now."
"Okay..." Zelda said quietly. 'Sure' She then said in her head.
"Zel..." Link started. "Y-you know I love you, right?"
Zelda nodded, not even looking at him.
"And Malon's just a frien-"
"I know, Link. I understood the first time you don't have to keep repeating the same thing over and over to me as an excuse."
Zelda froze. Her fingernails dug into her sides. She then instinctively got up and scurried up to her room.
~~
"GUYS! MY SHOE IS STUCK ON THE ROOF!!" Roy screamed from his room.
"Oh god, how many times has someone got something stuck on the roof?!" Ike yelled.
"Shutup and help me!!!"
"Fine... fine..."
Ike walked out of his room and made his way to Roy's room. He slammed opened the door and made his way to the open window seal. He climbed out and reached for the shoe on the roof. He struggled for a few minutes, before he averted somewhere else. He was able to see the front yard from where he was, and he was able to see someone walking up to the front door.
"Guess who's here."
"Who?"
"Guess."
"Male or Female?"
"Female."
"Ah crap."
"Do we let this happen?"
"Can we, like, silence our doorbell?"
"She knocks."
"Dammit."
Roy and Ike suddenly heard the girl call them. "What are you doing?"
"WE'RE BUSY, MALON!" Roy then chucked one of his other shoes at her. The girl quickly dodged it, and gawked at them.
"Really?!"
"Yeah, wanna see me do it again?!" Roy asked, already getting another shoe to throw. Malon didn't say anything, but instead walked to the front door.
"Did she come in a car?"
"Yeah."
"Throw the shoe at the car."
"Your wish is my command."
Link heard several loud knocks at the door. He slowly got up from the couch, stretching for a few seconds and then went to the door.
"Hey Link!"
"Hi Malon."
"I cut my hair! Did you notice? Isn't it really short now?!"
"It looks like you barely cut any."
"Still! I bet this is the most dramatic hair cut you've seen."
"My friend cut her hair to her shoudlers. Her hair was really long before. She's gonna cut it again actually."
"Which friend? Zelda? She's a friend, right?"
Link stayed silent.
"Anyway-" Malon stopped, looking over past Link. Link turned around to see Marth, Palutena, Lucina, and Pit's head around the corner. Link quickly shooed them away.
"Anyway... lets go! I found this really cool boba place we can try!!" Malon, without hesitation, grabbed Link by the arm and took him outside, shutting the door behind them.
Suddenly Zelda came downstairs. Marth was about to speak, before she said, "I already saw what happened, you don't need to tell me."
"Why is this still happening??!!"
"Don't we have a Zelink army?"
"C-calm down. I just want to think of something else right now." Zelda said.
Marth looked at Lucina. Lucina looked at Palutena. Palutena looked at Pit. Pit just looked back at Palutena because there was no one else to turn to.
"OPERATION DISTRACT ZELDA FROM HER BAD RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS THAT HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ALMOST FOUR WEEKS IS A GO!" Marth yelled.
"DAISY, ROY! GET DOWN HERE!" Pit called. Daisy and Roy then came down and joined the group.
Palutena grabbed Zelda and ran with the others to her room. Roy slammed the door behind them and grabbed the TV remote and tossed it to Marth. Marth then dramatically pointed the remote to the TV, which instantly turned on.
"Do we have to watch Mean Girls for the seventh time?!" Zelda asked awkwardly. Marth then changed the channel to a teen horror show.
Pit jumped on the bed next to Zelda and asked, "Can we curl your hair???"
Zelda stayed silent, struggling to resist Pit's puppy eyes. The princess chuckled and said, "Yes."
"This show is so stupid!" Zelda yelled, her hair being done several hours ago, the curls already straightening. It was already late at night.
"Thats how a lot of teen shows are." Lucina commented.
"I just need to get this off my chest," Daisy said. "the supposed 'hot guy' looks super ugly. Like, Kermit the Frog ugly."
Everyone laughed. Everyone continued to make funny comments about the mediocre show, making Zelda laugh even harder every time. She felt good for once.
"Someone slap that Veronica biatch, up!" Roy yelled, throwing a chip at the TV.
Zelda chuckled again. She felt a warm feeling in her heart, being able to enjoy herself unlike the past few weeks.
"Pat." Lucina said.
"Yes."
"Jump on the bed. You too, Marth."
"My bed is old! Its gonna break Luci!!!" Pat giggled.
"I'll buy you a new one, or whatever, jump on the bed!!"
Palutena got up. She floated up, and suddenly jumped down on the bed with her staff, causing everyone to fall off.
"I HIT MY HEAD ON THE TABLE!!" Roy whined.
"You asked for it! Well, Lucina did, anyway."
Zelda was sprawled out on the floor, laughing. She continued to laugh on, and on until she heard noises outside. People talking.
She got up and walked out of the room, the others following behind her. She peeked out the window.
"It's Link."
"And Malon?"
"Yes..." Zelda turned to the others. "Can I uh, handle this alone?"
The group nodded and awkwardly walked back to the room. Zelda stayed where she was for a few seconds, looking down at her feet. She then hesitantly opened the front door.
"Hi Zelda." Malon said, her usually 'happy' tone dropping to rude.
"Hi," Zelda crossed her arms and leaned on the door frame. "This obsession with Link here has been going on for a while, huh? Quite unhealthy."
Malon gawked and said, "Why are you so rude? What did I do?"
"Be rude to me first, thats what."
Malon turned to Link. "Do you hear her right now-"
"Ooh my god!" Zelda stepped outside and pushed Malon.
"Hey!"
"Z-Zel-"
"GET OUT OF HERE, YOU PSYCHO BITCH!" Zelda harshly led Malon to her car.
"STOP PUSHING ME!!"
"THEN GET TO YOUR DAMN CAR AND GET OUT OF HERE!"
Malon hesitantly got to her car and let herself in. Zelda motioned for the girl to get going. Soon enough, the car started to drive off.
A few seconds passed before Malon was out of sight. Zelda turned to Link.
"Zel, don't you think that's a little harsh..."
"You're still siding with her?!" Zelda yelled.
"You pushed her..."
"SINCE WHEN DID YOU CARE WHAT HAPPENS TO HER?!"
"She's a friend, and that's it! Why can't you trust me?!"
"Oh, I did! Until you started going out everday with her, coming home late at night, and YOU never told me anything! 'We're just friends Zelda, I barely even like her', THEN WHY DO YOU HANG OUT WITH HER?! YOU BARELY EVEN TALK TO ME, NOW! You're always worried about what she wants, how do you think that makes ME feel?!"
"Zel... trust me when I say that we, are just, friends!"
"I can't trust you on that, Link!" Zelda walked up to him. "You know I was having such a perfect day without pondering wether you're lying to me. But then you came and ruined it! Just like you've been doing for the past few weeks!"
"Zelda..."
"Tell me the truth."
"H-huh?"
"Tell me the truth," Zelda put her hands on her hips. "Do you love her, or not?"
"Zelda, please..."
"You're not answering me," Zelda's confident posture was now no more, her hands trembling. "If you love her, I'll happily leave you two be."
"I can't believe you're asking this..."
"YES OR NO?!"
"Zelda, please, calm down, you're shaking--"
"LINK IT'S OVER!"
Link froze. "Wh-what..."
"I can't do this anymore! We can't talk to each other like we used to, I don't trust you, and I know that you choose her over me."
Tears were already running down Zelda's face. Her hands balled up into a fist. She barely looked Link in the eye before she retreated back inside the house.
Link stayed there for a minute. He slowly walked up to the porch and sat on the steps, burrying his face in his hands.
It was silent for a few minutes, before the front door creaked open.
"Link."
Palutena.
The goddess crossed her arms. "I hope you realize that this was all your doing."
Link stayed silent.
"Do you know how painful it is to watch the person you love, love someone else?!"
"How would you know..." Link asked. His tone failing to be harsh but instead soft and weak.
"I know everything about that." Palutena sighed and said, "Come in whenever you want."
Palutena then slammed the door closed behind her as she stepped inside.
Link sat in silence once again. He hid his face in his knees.
He felt his anxiety rise in him.
His hands tembled as he quietly said to himself,
"Look what you've done..."
