Chapter 7: "Sweet Complications"
Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop was a riot of pink and red, filled with heart-shaped decorations and the sweet scent of magical pastries. The moment Heather stepped inside, she squealed - a high-pitched, totally unexpected sound that made Severus and Regulus jump.
"OH. MY. MERLIN!" she practically screamed, her voice hitting a pitch that could shatter glass. "IT'S SO PINK!"
Her excitement was childlike, completely destroying her usual calculated demeanor. She bounced on her toes, her pink glasses sliding down her nose as she took in every single heart-shaped decoration.
"LOOK AT THESE PASTRIES!" she shouted, pressing her face against a display of pink-frosted cakes. "THEY MATCH MY GLASSES!"
Severus and Regulus exchanged bemused looks. This was not the mathematical, precise Heather they knew from Potions class. This was pure, unbridled joy.
The heart-shaped teapot that had been winking suddenly seemed completely normal compared to Heather's enthusiastic reaction.
"Can we get EVERYTHING?" she asked, turning to the boys with the excitement of a five-year-old in a candy store.
Regulus couldn't help but laugh. Severus looked simultaneously shocked and endeared.
Their tea arrived - a complex magical blend that changed colors and flavors with each sip. Strawberry. Then chocolate. Then something that tasted like autumn leaves.
"Fascinating magical engineering," Heather observed, her analytical mind briefly returning - before she squealed again at a particularly pink cupcake.
As the afternoon progressed, their proximity grew closer. Whispered conversations. Shared glances. The kind of intimate connection that transcended typical teenage romance.
A gentle touch. A soft brush of hands.
When they finally kissed - first Severus, then Regulus - it was soft. Tender. Nothing like the aggressive displays typical of teenage romance.
Unbeknownst to Heather, James Potter and Sirius Black were watching from outside Madam Puddifoot's Tea Shop.
"An obligation spell," James whispered, pulling out an ancient Black family spell book he'd stolen from Sirius's collection. "It'll force her to go on a date with you."
Sirius looked uncertain. "Is that... ethical?"
"She's my sister," James said coldly. "And you're my best friend. She needs to understand family loyalty."
But James wasn't stopping at just an obligation spell.
"Devil's Snare," he smirked, his wand tracing dark magical patterns. "We'll use it to physically restrain her if she resists. One touch, and she'll be completely immobilized."
The magical vine was notorious - a plant that would wrap tightly around its victim, constricting more the more they struggled. Perfectly designed to trap and control.
"We'll cast it when she least expects it," James continued, his hazel eyes glinting with a dangerous light. "During the next Hogsmeade trip. She won't know what hit her."
Sirius watched the happy scene inside the tea shop - Heather squealing with pink-themed delight, Severus and Regulus looking at her with genuine affection.
Just three people. Finding something rare and unexpected.
And one very pink tea shop.
A plan that would break his sister's spirit - and her heart.
