The Outing
*yay a good background from a good OST*
//Your POV//
I woke up.
The sun was out and shining.
I sat up and stretched my arms.
I thanked my lucky star that the worst part of this trip was over and I didn't have to deal with anyone after that.
I decided that I'd chill today and maybe go around town site seeing.
I wanted to stay far away from Evil Street.
I got dressed into a Holister T-shirt, denim shorts, and vans sneakers.
I put my hair up in a ponytail *if you can* since it was really hot out.
I took out my laptop and saw that I received a reply from my boss:
Y/n,
Excellent job as always! This will definitely work for next weeks post! I hope you do take time to relax and rest that big brain of yours, your health means a lot to me. Also, please keep me up to date on your mother's condition.
Your Friend,
Stephen Hilenberg
I smiled at his words.
He was always too kind.
I put away my computer, got my purse and locked my hotel room.
I walked back to that coffee shop I went to yesterday, promising myself to pay.
When I walked in, the same girl was there.
The place was packed.
Once I got in line, I stared out the window a little bit.
I felt the strange yet, disturbing feeling of being watched, closely.
I felt my stomach swirl a little, so I forced myself to end my gaze through the glass.
I knew there was a pair of eyes on me.
It wasn't someone at the shop, it couldn't have been.
They felt like they were far away yet...right in front of me.
I was at the front of the line, so I greeted the girl at the register.
"Hey!" The girl smiled.
"Hi, can I have the same as yesterday?" I pulled out my money.
"Sure. 5 bucks."
I handed her the money and she made me the latte.
"How did yesterday go?" She asked as she made the next customer's coffee.
"It was..odd to say the least."
"Oh boy," She shook her head, "My names Rae by the way."
"Y/n."
"Well, where are you heading this morning?" Rae asked me.
"I'm not sure. Do you have any suggestions?"
"Sightseeing?"
"Yeah."
"Then the park. That's a really nice place to see. I won't tell you about it so you can see it yourself."
"Okay. Bye Rae," I left the coffee shop, waving.
"Bye Y/n!"
I walked out and looked at my phone for a map.
The park was at least 3 blocks away.
"I can make that," I shrugged.
I walked for a little bit, still feeling watched.
I like how close knit this community is, despite that it's terrorized by an actual super villain.
//Black Hat POV//
"How peculiar..."
She looked like she was going to the park, as suggested by the employee at the coffee shop.
I watched her intently as she walked down the roads.
'She knows I'm watching,' I thought.
I chuckled a little bit and followed her, staying out of site.
No one would be able to see me anyways, since I'm in an invisible disguise.
Y/n finally reached the park and smiled.
That was the first time I've ever seen her smile.
I walked behind her, watching her stare at the fountain.
This stare was different than the one she gave out the window at the coffee shop and unknowingly at me.
Then, it didn't look scared.
That was what I was looking for.
Don't get me wrong, she looked uncomfortable but not terrified which was what I intended.
She just..waited.
It was like she was expecting something to happen.
I honestly thought she knew I was there for a second.
This time, she looked more pleasant.
Happy even.
Maybe she just likes the outdoors.
Y/n dug in her purse for a second and took out a nickel (or any coin currency that's 5¢).
One from her home country, not even the money she traded for Pesos.
She flicked the coin from her thumb into the fountain.
She closed her eyes for 2 minutes, making a wish.
I tried to read her thoughts but it was all blurry.
It was almost like static.
'I wish....mom....hospital....stars....home....'
Something about her mom, a hospital, stars, and home.
I guessed that maybe her mother was sick and she wanted her to come home but I had no idea what stars meant.
Something about her thoughts made them impossible to read, forget invade.
I watched her wipe her eye, stare at the fountain for another minute, and walk away.
"She's tense," I mumbled.
Y/n perked up.
'Fuck!'
She must've heard me speak.
She looked around for a little bit, then walked away.
I followed her again.
Her pace was slow, steady, and emotional(?).
Something about her just gave me this sense that there is no hope.
Nothing.
I would usually like it but now, it's just..boring.
I wanted to read her a bit more.
I found the usual.
Name, Birthday, High School, Hometown, College Degree (Masters Degree in Journalism), background checks, hospital records, and criminal record (which just had 4 parking tickets).
She was as normal as normal can be.
I tried to read her personality but it was also fuzzy.
From the small resources I got, she is hardworking, a bookworm, has morality, smart, stressed, a lone wolf, and lost..?
I looked into that a bit more.
'A lost one. Longing to find someone or something to live for,' I read to myself.
Apparently, she has a really close relationship with her mother.
I couldn't tap into her mother since, she's too far away and I don't want to have no energy for the rest of the day.
Y/n's head perked up as she heard a rustle in the bushes.
I heard it too and I felt a new presence in the perimeter.
Y/n looked around a bit more, getting nervous.
A new figure popped out.
They were in a gray hoodie, covering their face with the hood and the rest with their hair.
They also had black sweatpants and green sneakers.
They walked up to Y/n and grabbed her by the collar.
"H-Hey! What are you-"
"Scream, and you die," They pulled out a stiletto and held it against her throat, "Give me your purse."
They were a local who knew English well, I could tell by the accent.
I went behind a bush and made myself visible.
'Am I really about to fucking do this?' I thought, 'I'm a villain!'
I fought against my urge to walk away and stepped out of the bushes.
Both of their heads turned to me as I took my stride towards the mugger.
"Excuse me, If you can be so kind to let go?"
"How about no?" The mugger laughed.
Y/n just seemed scared yet weirded out.
"Hah, you must not know who I really am."
I grabbed the mugger by his neck and lifted him up.
I opened a black portal under him.
"LET GO. NOW."
I watched as the muggers face went blue as he tried to speak.
He dropped Y/n's shirt, causing her to fall on the ground.
I dropped the mugger on the ground, "Now scram."
He backed up on the ground and soon ran off, bolting out of the park.
"Did you just.." Y/n mumbled.
"Save me?"
