The Dinner (💯 Special)
//Third POV//
The tension was heavy.
The restaurant was half empty, take a guess why.
If you guessed because of Black Hat, you're correct.
You were uncomfortable, staring at your hands.
Black Hat just sipped his wine, "I didn't imagine it to be this awkward."
"Yeah," You managed to cough up the word.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, I'm okay."
More silence rang.
After 15 minutes, your food arrived.
"I suppose we don't really have anything to talk about so..there's that," You shrugged.
"I suppose so."
The two of you ate the food, Black Hat paid the check, and the two of you left.
"Interactive meal, huh?" You chuckled.
"Yeah."
The two of you watched customers pour back into the restaurant.
"They were so afraid that they held their hunger til' we left," You felt bad for the people.
"That's how it goes for me. I've gotten used to it."
"But doesn't it suck? Not being able to go somewhere without someone running away, screaming?" You asked, surprised how unemotional he was.
"Not if you relish it."
"Don't you have any friends? Family even?"
"None. Only customers and employees."
"How can you live like-"
"The world just doesn't care enough, simple as that," He interrupted.
"So you built walls around yourself and kept people out so nobody hurts you."
He didn't answer that and just looked to the distance.
"It doesn't take much for someone to betray you. I learned that centuries ago, so there's no point trying to play house with everyone," He sighed.
You bit your lip, regretting bringing up the subject.
"Don't feel bad, It's not like it's your fault."
You looked at him, surprised.
"Yeah, yeah, I told you not to feel bad, kill me."
You couldn't help yourself and laughed at his comment.
He laughed a little bit too.
This time, his smile was genuine, not the shit eating one from before.
Black Hat looked over to your face and noticed you were smiling again, "Why don't you smile more often?"
You looked at him with a confused look on your face.
"What?"
"You heard me."
"What's there to smile about?"
"Jeez, no need to be like that. Just give me a straight answer," He asked.
'Why do I even care? I'm Black Hat! I reek of death and destruction, I shouldn't be thinking of the feelings of some girl!' He thought.
"I just...never find a reason to. Sort of like what you said before, the world isn't such a nice place. There's a new problem everyday, and if you think of what's happening in my life right now, there's another reason."
"Oh. True."
"Why do you care anyways?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
"That's what I'm asking myself," The Demon admitted.
You snickered a bit at his comment.
The two of you were quiet for a minute.
"I think I'm going to head back to the hotel."
"Want me to walk you?" He offered despite himself.
"Sure, why not?" You shrugged.
The two of you talked during the walk just some small talk.
You were stared at but the two of you ignored it.
After a couple minutes, you both arrived.
"Sweet Nightmares, Y/n."
"Uh, Same to you I guess."
And you shut the door and locked it.
You listened to his footsteps down the hall and they soon ended, indicating he teleported.
Your back was pressed against the door.
Your chest was heaving.
"What the fuck just happened?"
You calmed your nerves with a hot shower.
Once you changed into your pajamas, you laid on the bed and read the first couple chapter of the book you bought.
Soon, you fell asleep.

In the meantime, Black Hat was doing paperwork on his desk.
"I just don't understand why I'm like that around her..."
He finally finished the last sheet of paper after mumbling those words.
"FLUG!" He called to his scientist.
The doctor sped to the office.
"Y-Yes, jefe?"
"Tell me what these feelings are; It's like when I'm around this certain person, I feel this weird feeling in my stomach, and I'm nicer."
"I'm pretty sure that's nervousness, anxiety even...who even is this person?"
"That Reporter from before."
"Ms. L/n? You showed great interest in her soooo...maybe you like her?? As in, you have a thing for her?" Flug answered.
Black Hat stared at the scientist for a minute with a dead stare.
Flug trembled at the way his boss stared at him.
"Get out. Now."
"Y-Yes, jefecito!" Flug practically ran out of the office.
Black Hat stared at the ground in deep thought.
'What the hell was he thinking? That I have feelings for a mere human. Hah! What a joke! That could never, ever be the case...right?'
Half of him was supporting his ego that was larger than Jupiter while the other half was doubting himself.
'I could never, love anyone...'
