The Advice
//Your POV//
I was in my room, scrolling through Twitter when Rae knocked on my bedroom door.
"Come in."
She walked in, wearing a green apron over her clothes.
"You baking cookies?" I asked her.
"Ha! No, I'm going to do some community service. Every Sunday I go to the orphanage and help out. I was thinking you could join me. It'll take your mind off everything, and who knows, it perhaps could be a little fun," Rae explained.
"Hm...you know what? Sure. It'd be nice to get some fresh air."
"Yay! Let's go," She pulled me by the arm, off my bed and out of the house.
We were basically running down the sidewalk, causing me to laugh, "Jesus, Rae! Why the rush?!"
"Cuz I might be a teensy bit late."
"How far is the orphanage anyways?" I panted.
"Just down the road! C'mon! We can make it!"
I looked back to see that we were going a bit far from the apartment, the sight of his manor getting farther and farther.
I sped up my pace, "Then we should hurry up!"
And soon, we made it, the December air blowing in hour faces.
Rae walked in, to be greeted by small children hugging her and hooting "Rae! Rae!"
"Hello, everyone! I'm gonna have a little help today with my friend Y/n. Please say hello and be respectful," Rae introduced me to the children.
"Hi Y/n!" They greeted in unison.
"Hey," I waved.
The children all then ran off, some talking to Rae, so I watched with a smile as some played, danced, or even read a book.
That is, until a felt a small tug on my hand.
A tiny boy, no older than 5 was trying to get my attention, his chocolate brown eyes looking up at me curiously.
He was up to my hip, smaller than some of the other boys, having raven, fluffy hair, frizzed up.
He wore a t-shirt with a green frog on it, blue shorts and blue sneakers.
"Hello, young man," I greeted him.
"You're pretty!" He smiled and ran off.
I felt my heart melt for that precious little bean, "Aww.."
"They're adorable, aren't they?"
"Yep."
"Miss Y/n!" The same boy called me, "Wanna look at my toys?!"
"Of course!"
— 2 Hours Later —
After 20 minutes, all the small children were down for their naps.
"And now, lunch break," Rae whispered, relieved.
"I never knew you were so good with kids, Rae," I told her, as we walked down the hallway.
Another volunteer offered to watch them sleep while we check on the older kids.
"I can say the same thing for yourself, Y/n. The kids love you!"
"Heh, they're all so cute. I think-"
We were interrupted by the sound of crying coming from the bathroom.
We decided to investigate, and walked in to see one of the teen orphans, Alexia, crying.
She was a big help to the volunteers, always jumping in when she was needed.
She was also coincidentally the older sister of the little boy, Diego, who I played with before.
"Alexia? Hunny, what's wrong?" Rae asked her.
"M-My boyfriend..J-Jared..he j-just broke up with m-me.."
"Oh Sweetie.." Rae gave her a hug.
That pulled my heartstrings.
It reminded me of..
"I'm so sorry, Alexia," I patted her back.
"W-Why would d-do this? A-After all we've d-done together?"
"Boys are dumb. That's why," Rae pointed her finger up.
I nodded.
"B-But for what r-reason?"
"Well..some guys don't really know what they want. They can love you one minute, then leave you in the dust. Trust me, I know it hurts," I scratched the back of my head.
"How d-does-"
"But, Things get better. It obviously wasn't meant to be. He doesn't deserve you, and you shouldn't bother with that jerk anymore," I told her.
"R-really?" She sniffed.
"Of course, hun," Rae smiled.
"Th-Thanks, Miss Y/n," Alexia hugged me.
"No problem.."
