Chapter 3
Anthony: WHAT WAS THAT
Ally: My endings which aren't so bad yet
Alana's POV
"Leo Shane, do you copy?!" My panicked voice screamed as I put my finger to the speaker thingy that allowed people to communicate with each other. Not so far away from me, the battle raged, slugs versus ghouls, Shane Gang versus Dana and her allies. I saw Leo run into a building, and I haven't seen him since. I listened for Leo's voice to come from the other end, but no reply came, and my fear increased. Why isn't he replying? Was he hurt? Or...no. He couldn't be. Right? Just when I was about to go find him, I heard a slug fire, and my heart stopped when I saw the building Leo went in collapse, and without a second thought or any hesitation, I ran to the building. A low growl emitted from my throat as I saw Dana, cackling with glee. But when her eyes lay on me, she threw her head back, and laughed even more.
"You couldn't have come sooner? Your friend just witnessed something I would have paid for you to see." She questioned me once she finished laughing that hideous laugh. I looked at Eli, who's head was hung low, tears streaming from his broken eyes, and only one thing can leave him hopeless and broken. Leo.
"What did you do to him?!" I snarled, anger coursing in my veins, advising me to get rid of this flopper once and for all. She did something to Leo. She did something to Leo. I loaded my blaster with Ash, then made sure my blaster was hidden by Dana before Ash hopped out and Isis replaced her.
Leo S: OH I SEE WHAT GONNA HAPPEN, SMART MOVE ALANA
Alana: Thanks Leo :D
"I suggest you start clearing the pile of broken concrete. It could be as broken as this boy's soul." She lifted Eli's chin, but when I saw his eyes, they had a tint of red.
"YOU MONSTER!!" He yelled and broke free of the vines that wrapped around his body, and in seconds, Dana was on the ground, Eli above her, holding her down as he threw merciless punches at her.
"Eli! Get out of the way!!" I yelled on he top of my lungs, and the red tint in his eyes faded as he looked at me and quickly backed away. With a flick of my wrist and the pull of a trigger, Isis was flying in velocimorph towards Dana, who was so dazed and near to the point of unconsciousness, got hit. Eli grinned to hear her screams of pain, before growling again and kicking her, causing her pain to increase. He ran to me, and suddenly, we both remembered.
"Leo!" We ran to the debris, trying to dig Leo out, moving rock by rock, as fast as we could. As I moved pieces of the ceiling, I imagined his laugh, his smile, our happy memories. Not just the memories of us being together, but our memories as friends. Our round of Spin or Dare, when Leo blushed so much when the bottle landed on me, when I dared him to run around the forest shirtless shouting "PANCAKES ARE BETTER THAN WAFFLES" which wasn't and will never be true, and the way my cheeks heated up when he kissed me on the cheek instead. To think of him, this happy person, who still had a lot to live for, people who love him, dead and lifeless under rocks, was devastating. I couldn't accept it. Leo could still be alive. He's tough. A sigh of relief escaped from my mouth as I saw some rocks budge, and a groan coming from under the rocks.
"LEO! LEO!!" I hollered frantically, my voice broken and perplexed, worried out of my mind for my boyfriend. Finally, I heard a groan and tears of happiness and relief sprung from my eyes. I saw Leo, and he was alive. He was alive. I dug him out and saw him. He looked terrible. He had cuts all over his body: his chest, his face, his head, his arms, his legs. There was a horrifying cut down his head, which was so deep, I could see his skull. Fresh, ruby red drops of sticky, thick blood flowed like a water faucet from nearly all his wounds. Leo was slipping into unconsciousness, but he couldn't move. His left arm was bent in a peculiar way, and so was his right leg. his face was scrunched up in immense pain. Before I could do anything, someone shot a Boon Doc at Leo, and an explosion happened behind the debris of the escalator. The Authors leaped up from behind the debris and landed in front of Leo and I. I ignored the dramatic Authors and concentrated on Leo. His minor cuts healed up nicely, and his major cuts were less deeper than they were before, and they also stopped bleeding. Leo's face relaxed, and his eyes fluttered open.
"Uhhh..." He moaned softly, and I was so relieved I hugged him. He quickly pushed me away and tried his best not to scream out loud. With his good hand, he checked the inside of his shirt.
"Shit, broken ribs. My arm and leg are pretty messed up too." He blatantly pointed out, and tears of joy welled up in my eyes as I squeezed him in a hug which was probably too tight, but he didn't protest. He hugged me back one handed, because his other hand was broken, and we just stayed there, me sobbing with joy as he whispered comforting words in my ear until we let go. Ally remarked tiredly,
"We came as soon as we heard, nice move with Isis there, Alana. Leo, I can heal you at least halfway before I'm out, unless anyone here happens to have a Fandango, that is." Valdezi's Fandango, Energy, jumped onto Ally's shoulder, and her eyes widened slightly and Valdezi confessed,
"Honestly, you suck at keeping yourself safe." Everyone chuckled at that, but an explosion snapped us back to reality. Ally frowned as she knelt by Leo's head, and bloodcurdling screams filled the air as an orphanage lit up on fire. Ally's pupils narrowed, and she ordered,
"Go save the children!" She started healing Leo with her left hand, the Fandango giving her the energy she needed to quicken the process, and a vibrant green glow emitted from underneath her hand. She shot an Arachnet at a kid in the building, and the Arachnet swung the kid to safety. I pecked Leo quickly on the lips and ran towards the burning orphanage.
Ashley's POV
I was in the flaming orphanage, everything a blur as I ran around and hollered until my voice was hoarse, doused fires, saved countless children of all colours. I was looking for some children when I started coughing and choking on the black, foul smoke I was breathing in, and I fell to my knees as I coughed nonstop. My Aquabeek went up to me, and started chattering nonstop, and after ny coughing fit, I got up and loaded him in my blaster. I was about the leave the floor when I heard a voice, a voice I never thought I'll hear again, a voice which I never forgotten, the voice that sang me to sleep when both of my parents were busy protecting caverns, before he died that day. The voice of my older brother.
"HELP! ASHLEY, HELP ME!!" He yelled frantically, and I could picture his sky blue eyes filled with tears and fear, a Blakk Guard holding a blaster to his head. I was his only hope now. I spun to the left, where I heard his voice, which was covered by fire. I shot my Aquabeek at the fire, and my sky blue eyes teared up as I saw a dagger in his chest as his back arched over with pain and he hacked up ruby red drops of blood. I couldn't lose him, not now, not again.
"AQUITO!!" I yelled frantically, barely dodging pieces of flaming wood, my hair nearly catching fire as I dashed towards my dying brother, knowing I can save him. The Shadow Clan just unlocked my healing powers, I could use them, I could heal him, he could come back with me, and I would finally have actual family, someone to look up to. I knelt by him as he hacked up more blood. He glanced at me, and my heart ached at his pained expression. He croaked,
"Ashley....my little sis...so grown up..." His blood coated lips smiled as he pulled out the dagger from his chest, and grinned evilly as he stood up. His lips bled, but he wasn't coughing anymore. He held up the dagger, and fear enveloped me, and I whimpered,
"Aquito?" He cackled maniacally as sparks and dust erupted from his feet, and I growled with anger when I saw who it really was. His stringy, blond hair, his turquoise eyes with a hint of orange due to the fire filled with malice and insanity, his yellow and white slinging attire stained with fresh, red blood.
"Twist." I snarled, and grabbed my blaster. He smirked with cruelty and taunted,
"Aww, Ash, you wouldn't hurt the guy who saved your girlfriend, will you? Her name was Ally, right?" I let out a deep, low growl as fury bubbled up in my chest as I hardened my grip on my blaster, until my knuckles were white. I loaded the slug that would do the most damage to him: Inferno, my Infurnus. I named him when I was seven, okay? Don't blame the bad name. Twist continued,
"I remember you, begging for me to take you instead, begging for me to spare her while she was already such a weak and pathetic thing." I saw someone, a girl not much older than me, dressed in tights and a orange shirt stained with sweat and blood. A Striker 2300 modelled blaster which was gray flecked with blue upon the metal surface of the small blaster, small enough to fit in the girl's hands hung from her belt, and she carefully and quietly unhooked it, and I saw a slug jump inside. Her long, choppy brown hair tied up into a ponytail swished around, threatening to hit Twist in the face and reveal herself. Beads of sweat and blood trickled down the left side of her face, and her obsidian black eyes stared at Twist with slight fear and intimidation as she raised her blaster to his head, a Rammstone loaded inside, her thin index finger in the trigger. Twist grinned at me and aimed his blaster at me, a Goon Doc loaded inside. I scrambled to get up, but he pushed me back down.
"And I didn't want to spare her, Ashley, I never did. And I didn't. You did. Your powers, the uncontrollable demons inside you, powers you still can't control, they are the reason you have no family." I growled as the memories came back, as the scene took place in my mind, that guy I considered as my friend, draining the life out of our childhood friend, breaking the trio, betraying us. As Twist did the finishing job, and my scream as I thought I saw the ghoul hit her, and the direction I sent the slug to. Especially who it hit. He grabbed me by the shirt, and pinned me against the wall as he brought his filthy lips to my ear and whispered,
"You killed your own father, Ashley." Anger and hatred bubbled inside me as he relived those memories in my mind, as he stirred up those nightmares once again, my emotions taking over as I snarled,
"And I will kill you."
Leo S: SHIT JUST GOT REAL O.O
Anthony: WHAT IS HAPPENING
Before he could react, I dissolved in wispy shadows, and through the shadows as I traveled out of his grip and reappeared a few meters away from the wretched man, the man that killed hundreds of innocent people for Blakk, the man that corrupted thousands of slugs, and traumatized millions of children with his illusions. He was a cruel person. Cruel people die. The girl from earlier shot her Rammstone at Twist, and a grin crept up to my face with delight as he fell to the ground, and I loaded Inferno in my blaster. For some reason, he looked.....frightened. His face was one of pure terror, fear written in his warm, red eyes, and as I held him in my hand, I felt him trembling on my palm.
"What's wrong, Inferno?" Without waiting for his reply, I loaded him into my blaster and shot him at Twist, who screamed in agony as third degree burns scarred his tan skin, and my grin increased in size as I saw the Goon Doc hopping away from the chaos.
I loaded it in my blaster.
I shot the slug.
No regrets.
