Chapter 21- Extra Chapter
(PLEASE READ!)
Author's Note:
OH MY GOODNESS. I am seriously SO sorry I never wrote the extra chapter I promised I'd write. For some reason I was reading the last chapters of this right now and when I read the author's note of the last chapter I was like CRAP. THE CHAPTER. I completely forgot it was even a thing. Sooo this is probably the saddest thing to do considering I literally posted the last chapter in September of 2014 and it's currently April of 2016. I'm the worst oh my goodness hahah. But if anyone actually happens to be reading this well...here you go. I keep my promises !! Better late than never right? :') Pretty sure no one even reads this anymore but at least I'll have my self satisfaction lololol.
However, I only got one request on the last chapter I'd posted from someone saying they wanted a chapter with a continuation of what happened with Taylor and Maddie but since I feel so bad I never did it I'll write continuations of:
-Josh & Taylor
-Maddie & Taylor
-Hailey & Chris
-Niall & Taylor
So with that said, here's your extra chapter.
Taylor's POV:
I walked inside the old pizza place we'd visited on that night Niall had finally asked me out. The familiar smell of what I believed to be the best pizza in Ireland reached my nostrils and I smiled, all the memories coming back. It hadn't been too long, but somehow, it felt like it had all happened a lifetime ago.
My eyes searched the place and finally I spotted a table with all of my friends sitting on it. I smiled widely at the view and couldn't believe we had actually managed to make it happen. After months of organization, we had all finally been able to find a free day and succeeded at getting us all together in the same place. I was thankful my hometown was small because it meant I didn't have to worry about getting mobbed. Of course, Niall always had a harder time at trying to keep it on the low wherever he went, but I think it was always more exciting like that. Going undercover was an adventure.
I looked at Niall and a smile made its way onto his face.
"This is great." I said and he squeezed my hand a little tighter.
"Let's do this." He replied and we walked over to the table.
We were both greeted with hugs and hellos from everyone and then we took a seat.
"I can't believe we did this. It's like a small version of a high school reunion!" Hailey said and we all laughed.
"Well, it only took about half a year. I swear you guys have a busier schedule than we do." I joked.
"So, what have you guys been up to? It's been so long since I've heard anything from anyone, really." Josh said, and I realized it was true. We all kept in touch but never really mentioned much.
I mean, everyone was pretty much up to date with Niall and I's life, but then again, so was the whole world. It sometimes took the fun out of surprises. Heck, sometimes I'd find out about something through the media before Niall even told me himself. It was insane. I couldn't even ask my boyfriend things before the paps came out with the news.
"Well, Chris and I were waiting to tell all of you in person." Hailey said and I smiled curiously.
Hailey was the person I'd talk to the most. She and I kept our high school friendship and she was still one of the very few people I could really trust. So, hearing this from her is definitely surprising, considering she usually tells me almost everything.
I still find it funny how she ended up with Chris because she was trying to get me to like him at first.
After I left, she became really good friends with him. And by really good friends I mean, really good friends. She spent almost everyday with him and at one point, it almost felt like she had forgotten about me. They clicked immediately and became an inseparable duo. And of course, just like almost any other pair of best boy/girl friends, they ended up dating. It's been four years since and they're still going strong. I'm really happy for her.
"What is it?" Maddie asked, seeming just as curious as the rest of us.
Chris and Hailey exchanged a look, both smiling widely and then turned to look at the rest of us.
"We're getting engaged!" They both said at the same time. Everyone cheered and started congratulating them on the good news.
Comments like,
"Oh my goodness, that's great!"
"Congrats!"
"Aw, I'm so happy for you!"
Were said by everyone.
When everyone was finally done, Josh spoke.
"I also have an announcement to make."
We all turned to look at him and I already knew what the announcement was.
"I'm retiring from the band and taking a break. Bora Bora awaits. Anyone's welcome to join me." He said, smiling cooly.
Yes, Josh Devine. One Direction's drummer. I know, it sounds crazy. Small world. At the beginning, when Niall first heard him, he was hesitant to even mention him to management. After all, there was still the whole tension between Josh and him. Josh was my best friend and he took a little longer forgiving Niall, obviously. Eventually, they fixed things and became good friends. Niall finally decided to tell management about his drumming skills and he was hired right away. It was all quite ironic.
"I'm glad. You deserve a break." Maddie said and Josh smiled.
"So, anyone else have any announcements to make?" Niall asked, his blue eyes looking over at everyone else.
"I'm moving to America." Maddie told us, the corners of her mouth curving up, and everyone turned their heads to look at her.
"Where to?!" Hailey asked excitedly.
"Boston. I found a job opportunity there. I'm going to become a graphic designer!" She told us happily and just like we did with everyone else, we congratulated her as well.
Maddie and I went way back, and a lot of things had happened. Shortly after I had gone back to school, Maddie was part of the 'popular' crowd. She completely ignored me, whereas everyone else in her group suddenly started to acknowledge me. Befriend me even. I obviously didn't put up with it and told them all off. I was still the same person. However, I found it quite surprising how Maddie's attitude towards me hadn't changed at all. As weird as I may sound, I kind of liked the fact she wasn't suddenly treating me differently.
One day, she and I bumped into each other in the hall when no one was around. We looked at each other for a second, but I didn't make any effort to talk to her. After all, she wasn't my friend anymore. I still hadn't forgotten she'd betrayed me. But suddenly, I heard her voice.
"Taylor..." She said, my back facing her.
I stopped dead in my tracks, not expecting to hear her speak. I slowly turned around, and faced her.
"Yes?"
"I know it's too late and you don't have to forgive me, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry. I know I was a horrible friend and I have no idea what was wrong with me. I hope we can just be in peace now. Also, congrats on making it that far on the competition." She told me, and I just stood there, all the words I wanted to yell at her caught inside my throat.
I couldn't trust her. For all I knew, she was just using me and my reputation. However, I decided to forgive her.
"Thanks. And I accept your apology." I smiled and walked away.
After that day, I slowly tried to see if she was really genuine about her apology. I couldn't deny the fact I missed our friendship. Months passed of just casual small talk, she eventually ditched her group, and one day we finally made up again. Ever since then, we've been good friends again. It was nice to know there wasn't anymore fighting going on in our lives. I already had more than enough things to deal with through the media.
"I'm so happy for you." I smiled and she returned it.
The rest of the afternoon consisted of us just catching up on more stuff and talking like the old days. I was glad to have friends like them. It felt good knowing somewhere in the world, you'd always be the real you.
