Cherry blossom is blooming

"Where should I put this one?" Jay held up a pot of flowers while I was rearranging and I sprinted towards him to take it off from his hands as if my life depended on it.

"Oh my gosh, don't scare me like that!" I scolded him. "What if your allergies act up?!"

"I was keeping a distance while holding it," he defended, pouting.

I pointed at the door. "Get out."

"Meanie."

Ever since he came to know about my flower shop, he sometimes came to visit me but only recently I found out about his allergies to flowers. Since then, I always chased him out and we would bicker.

"Oh goodness! How can someone do this to their customer?" He dramatically yelled.

"You don't buy anything!"

I placed another plant on a shelf and stretched my back while groaning. Work was stressing me out a lot so I was rearranging my plants to hopefully relieve some of it. Although it wasn't working. I was only getting tired.

"Why don't you take a break? I brought some movies to watch on my notebook. It's a weekend, Bloom."

I looked at Jay and then at my flowers, contemplating before sighing deeply. "Okay. Why not? Come on up."

We got up to the second floor and he put his notebook on the table before we settled on the small couch. He put on a classic movie and I thought I would not finish it. The name was intriguing though. Dead poets society.

Oh how wrong was I...

It made me question my whole life and work.

By the time it ended, I was heaving and holding in my sobs all the while wiping the tears that escaped my eyes despite my efforts. All the stress had gotten through me after all.

"Are you okay?" Jay asked, handing me tissues from his bag.

I paused, seeing them. "You seem prepared."

"I cried while watching the first time, too."

I wiped my tears and calmed myself down as he waited, scrolling through other movies. I embarrassed myself in front of him many times now and he was the only person who could understand me when it came to work. I want to confide in him.

"You know... I've been living from paycheck to paycheck," I began and he listened patiently. "It might be the only thing I'm doing. I don't know what I want to do..."

He hummed. "Being happy and content with the life you're living is what matters."

I scoffed. I did not know what I was expecting. "Easy for you to say. It would have been nice if I had companies under my name."

He turned to me. "If you want, I will give them to you."

I rolled my eyes. "No thanks."

"Why? You said you wanted that."

"I know when a liar is talking to me."

His expression turned serious. "I'm not lying."

I blinked in confusion. "Really? You'll really give them to me?"

He did not even hesitate. "Yeah."

I snorted. "No thanks."

"Your loss." He laughed. "But you still have your flower shop. You seem to really like flowers."

"Yes." I smiled. "My favorite flower is dahlia. And also cherry blossoms. Come to think of it, it's around now that they will bloom."

I checked my phone calendar.

"Bloom." He chuckled and I looked at him thinking he was calling my name. "You want to go watch the cherry blossoms?"

Cherry blossoms everywhere I turned and a festival of sorts welcoming spring. Soft pink petals dancing with the wind and people of all ages rejoicing in it. Such a beautiful and ethereal sight.

Jay and I took hundreds of pictures and walked around the garden, chatting about this and that. It was comforting me and my weary heart.

My stomach growled, breaking the mood.

"Do you want something to eat? I saw a corn dog stand on the way over there," Jay asked and I agreed, turning on my heels to go back but he offered to go alone and come back for the both of us.

As I waited for him, I was about to sit on an empty bench but I saw a familiar face. I walked over to the man and tapped his shoulder.

He whipped his head at me so quickly as if he was shocked. "You can see me?"

"Yeah... why?" I frowned.

Yoongi stared at me for a long while before weakly shaking his head. "No. Nothing."

We stood in silence for a painfully long time. I was about to say goodbye when he asked, "Are you enjoying this? You like flowers, right?"

I nodded. "Yes. Are you?"

Sadness glazed over his eyes. "I think so."

The dreams I had of him ran through my mind. Bizarre and unexplainable dreams that kept coming. Why was I dreaming those about him? Such tragic events. Perhaps all the sad expressions he had were making my brain make up all those scenarios.

He shuffled to the nearest flowery stand and took a pink bracelet with cherry blossoms on it.

"So pretty," I whispered in awe.

"Yes." He smiled and bought it before giving it to me. "For you."

I froze. "What?"

"You like cherry blossoms, don't you? And you thought this was pretty." He extended the dainty, pretty bracelet.

I took it with a bashful smile. "Thank you."

I wrapped it around my wrist and tried to lock it but kept failing. Yoongi gently took the bracelet ends and hooked the lock for me.

I thanked him again and when he said it was fine, he suddenly paused and stared at me with a bewildered and frightened expression. Before I could question him, he said his goodbye and walked away, leaving me confused.
