Chapter 59

"Remus, Roman?" Remus stopped dead and Roman nearly tripped over him.

"Give me a warning before you do that." He hissed.

"Where are you two going?" Theodorsia asked.

"Uh... out?" Remus said, though it came out as more of a question.

"Why and where?" Their mother asked.

"Just... out." Remus said.

"We're going to look for someone." Roman said, a small sigh behind his words. "Because I'm an idiot and Re's agreed to help me."

"You're not an idiot, Roman." Theodorsia said firmly. "Who is this person?"

Remus looked at Roman before looking back at his mother. "We don't know exactly- wait, wait, wait!" He held his hands up quickly as Theodorsia opened her mouth to speak. "We've got a name and I've got an appearance and we've got something of theirs to return. All we need to do is go to Logan's study and look through the censuses. Figure out where they live."

Theodorsia nodded slowly. "And have you told Logan this?" She asked. Remus paused again.

"Yes?" He said. Theodorsia shook her head.

"You both are really bad at lying." She said. "Go tell Logan you need the census files and please, both of you, be careful."

"Mother, we're not children anymore." Remus whined.

"That may be so but you're still reckless." Theodorsia said. "Both of you, don't even think of speaking, Roman." Roman closed his mouth. "Look after each other. Understood?"

"Yes, mother." The twins mumbled. Theodorsia nodded curtly.

"Good. Now, I believe Logan's office is down at the other end of the castle?" She hid a smile behind her hand as her sons tripped over each other in an effort to get to the other end of the castle first.

"Logan?"

Logan sighed and looked up from the passage he was transcribing. "What do you want, your Highness?" He asked.

"We need the census files." Roman said. Logan looked up at the two brothers, blinking in surprise.

"All of them?!" He asked.

"Not all of them." Roman said. "Just for the last... fifteen years."

"Your highness, not all of the files are in braille-" Logan started.

"It doesn't matter. Re's the faster reader, anyway." Roman said.

"Wait, you mean to find this guy I've gotta read?!" Remus asked.

"How else are we going to find him?" Roman asked. Logan looked between the two - stumped for once - before sighing and getting up from his desk.

"Here are all the census files from the last century." He said, grabbing a pile of files from a table scattered with paper. He handed the files to Remus, who nearly dropped them. "Don't drop them, your Highness. That's years of important information." He glared at Remus. "Is that all, your Highnesses?"

"Yeah." Roman said confidently, nodding.

"Then get out of my office." Logan said, forcing a polite tone into his voice.

Remus sighed and walked away, Roman following behind. Logan huffed and back down at his desk.

"How he expects me to be civil after what happened..." Logan thought to himself. "I need to go and see Patton." He decided. He grabbed a notebook and wrote down the note. "There, that's done."

"Now," Logan muttered to himself, "back to work."

"Re?" Roman asked. "Did Logan seem cold to you?"

"He's always cold. He's Logan." Remus said, flicking through the first census with little interest.

"I know but... more cold. Like, hostile, almost." Roman said. "And you said that my 'silly tutor' had more of a life than I knew or something. What did you do?"

Remus giggled. "Well, let's just say Logan and his little boyfriend unknowingly helped in the finding of your dear Vee."

"That's not an answer, Re." Roman said, his tone sharp. Remus groaned.

"Fine." He said. "I know about Logan and the blacksmith's son he's been seeing. Used it to our advantage. Told Logan I knew and suggested that he take the blacksmith's son to the woods on the last night of the ball. Plan worked perfectly."

"I hate you." Roman said. "You're dragging other people into this, that isn't fair!"

"Whoever cared about fair?" Remus asked.

I maaaayyyy have gone slightly over-board on this story. Sorry.
Bye,
Blaize
