Chapter 6

I'm late to update again.....sorry

"Ugh do I literally have no clothes to wear!" I scream to myself. It's now 10:30 and Calum is suppose to be here at 11:00 and I have rejected everything from my closet. It don't want to look gross or over dressed or underdressed and he won't give me any details about where we are going so I'm just left in the dark. I settle for black jeans, oversized sweater, and black and white converse.

I tie my hair into a ponytail and leave some ends out to frame my face. By the time I finish he's knocking at the door. I grab my phone and head to get to door but my mom had already gotten it. Great.

"Hello young man, are you one of Elizabeth's friends?" she says.

"Yes Ma'am. I'm here to take her out for the day if that's alright with you." he says with a goofy smile on his face. My moms about to answer but I beat her to it coming down the hallway.

"Ready to go?" I ask him, giving him a pleading look so we can get away from my mom.

"Actually I think we should stay and talk to your mom a little more." he says with a smirk and I roll my eyes

"Nope we are going now. Bye mom I'll be back soon." I say and push him out the door.

"Thanks for that!" I say pushing to the side. She just laughs and leads me to his car.

"Your carriage awaits." he says opening my door. I laugh and climb in. he runs over to his side and gets it.

"So are you gonna tell me what we are doing today now?" I say

"Nope you'll find out when we get there." he says with a smile and starts his car. We drive in silence for a while till he turns on the radio for a bit. Wild by Troye Sivan starts blasting and my face lights up. Without even thinking I start singing loudly not even caring how I sound. I stop when I hear him laughing at me. My cheeks get red and I sink in my seat.

"No no don't stop! I was just about to join in with you!" I highly doubt he would sing along and he can see that I'm skeptical so out of nowhere he just starts screaming the chorus.

"LEAVE THIS BLUE NEIGHBORHOOD NEVER KNEW LOVING COULD HURT THIS GOOD OHH AND IT DRIVES ME WILD! COME ON ELIZABETH DON'T LEAVE ME HANGING LIKE THAT!" by this time I'm doubled over laughing and what just happened. He joins in laughing too.

"Okay here come the chorus again okay you have to sing with me this time okay." he says and we both get ready.

"One, two Go!"

"LEAVE THIS BLUE NEIGHBORHOOD NEVER KNEW LOVING COULD HURT THIS GOOD OHH AND IT DRIVES WILD! BECAUSE WHEN YOU LOOK LIKE THAT I NEVER EVER WANTED TO BE SO BAD OH AND IT DRIVES ME WILD! IT'S DRIVING E WILD WILD WILD" I can't hold in my laughter anymore and we both let it go. Once I finally get my breathing under control he turns the radio down.

"That was amazing!" I tell him and he just laughs and pulls into a parking lot.

"We are at our first stop" he says pulling his eyes out and opening door, I do the same.

"So we are going to a bakery?" I say and he nods and starts walking towards me. It's a nice small bakery and you would probably miss if you weren't looking for it. We walk in and are greeted by the ladies behind the counter.

"Calum! Long time no see. It's this your girlfriend? She's quite beautiful," one of the ladies say walking towards up. I smile and I'm about to correct her but Calum steps in.

"No Maggie she's just my friend. She sure is beautiful though." he says turning towards and my cheeks turn red.

"Maggie this is Elizabeth, Elizabeth this is nanny from when I was younger Maggie" I go to shake her hand but she pulls me in for a hug.

"How are you doing darling?" she asks pulling away.

"I'm doing alright. how about you?"

"I'm going great. I hope this one is treating you alright." she says nudging Calum making us both laugh.

"We are gunna sit down Maggie." he says taking my hand leading me to a table.

Calum picks out a table and I sit while he
orders. He and all the ladies are all laughing together and it makes my heart warm. He's a completely different person from who he is at school. I prefer this Calum over that one. We come back with two huge chocolate chip muffins. I thank him and he takes a seat.

"They all seem to really love you." I say gesturing over to the ladies who are all smiling at us.

"Yeah they're pretty great" he says smiling back them facing me.

"So tell me your story Ms. Elizabeth." he says leaning closer to me.

"Well I'm an only child. My dad left us when I was 6 so it's just me and mom. I like to sing, and write, and draw and stuff like that. I'm nothing special really." I say biting into my muffin.

"I don't believe that for a second. You seem pretty special to me. I don't know you sang. Who's your favorite artist?"

"I love too many to just say one! My favorite at the moment is Melanie Martinez." he smiles and nods at me.

"What about you Mr. Hood, Tell me your story."

"Alright. I have an older sister Mali who's fantastic. My dad wasn't around a lot when I was younger so it's just me, her, and my mom. When I started school I got picked on a lot so I tried acting like the kids that picked on me so I didn't have a reason to get beaten up everyday. I guess it worked but somewhere acting turned into the real thing and I then I it became who I was. I act my old self around people I feel comfortable around which is very few. So that's how this happened. Um I like to sing too and play bass and guitar and write as well. "
I hadn't expected his response to be so heavy and I didn't want to treat him like a wounded puppy so I tried to make the mood a little lighter.

"I would love to hear you play someday" I say with a warm smile.

"Maybe" she says winking and me making me look down and smile.

We both finish our muffins and get up leave and walk around the shops a little bit. Calum reaches for my hand and laces our fingers together and I feel my heartbeat out of my chest. We talked about random thing and shared embarrassing stories and got lunch. Buy the time we got back to his car it was about 4 in the afternoon.

"Okay is that the end of our adventure?" I ask as he pulls out the parking lot.

"Nope, one more stop." We drive for about 10 minutes and pull into the parking lot of a huge park.

When we get out he hands me a blanket to carry and pulls out a guitar case from his trunk. He sees my face light up and just laughs and takes me hand and walks me to the grass. We find a secluded spot away from everyone else there and lay the blanket out.

"It's so beautiful out here." I say sitting down and sits with me.

"Yeah, this is where I come to write and play and just think."

"Wait a second, you write song?" I say excitedly and he just chuckles and nods.

"Well know you have to play me something of yours right now." He tries to protest but I won't have it until finally he pulls out his guitar and gets ready to play.

"Okay you are the first person to hear this so don't judge me, Okay?"

"I promise I won't! Now play!" He smiles nervously and starts playing.

Oh say, can you see? This is not who I'm supposed to be
Without you I'm nobody, killing time
I try to deceive, try to win you desperately
Now I'm lost in the swirling sea of your sorry eyes

All my life, I've been waiting for moments to come
When I catch fire, and wash over you like the sun
I will fight, to fix up and get things right
I can't change the world, but maybe I'll change your mind

Oh say, do you know? I'm a fool in a one man show
I'm a broken stereo, out of time
so how does it feel? All alone, is it so surreal?
Because the ghost of survivors guilt can be so unkind

All my life, I've been waiting for moments to come
When I catch fire, and wash over you like the sun
I will fight, to fix up and get things right
I can't change the world, but maybe I'll change your mind

The words you speak, surrounding me
This is broken love, in the first degree
The air you breathe is haunting me
Maybe I'll change your mind

All my life, I've been waiting for moments to come
When I catch fire, and wash over you like the sun
I will fight, to fix up and get things right
I can't change the world
I know that I can't change the world
But maybe I'll change your mind

My mouth is just wide open. My goodness I didn't think he could get any cuter but clearly I was wrong. As soon as he sung I was sold. His voice was so warm and pure and his lyrics were just perfect.

I've always been a person who loved lyrics. I like knowing what a song meant. It's like looking into the artist mind and seeing what they were thinking at that moment.

"Elizabeth please say something" Calum says pulling me out of my thoughts. He looks so nervous and kind of sweet.

"Calum I loved it so much! You're a great writer, and singer, and everything!" I say and the worry is washed away from his face and replaced with a big smile.

"You really think so?"

"Yes I do! I love the lyrics. My favorite was when you said 'I can't change the world but maybe ill change your mind'. Who did you write about?"

"Well... you kinda. It's about getting a second chance" I smile and squeeze his hand.

"It's getting pretty late we should probably get you home." I try not to look to sad about it but I know I'm failing. We get out things and head to the car.

Our drive consist of us singing every song I know and me stopping to hear him when he sounds really good. He would always catch me and end up screaming the next line making me laugh.

We pull up to my house and he gets out and opened my door for me again. He leans against the car and I stand in front of him.

"I had a really great time today" he says grabbing my hands and lacing our fingers together.

"Me too" I say looking at my shoes. I feel his hand leave mine and to touch my face and I look up at him.

Him brown eyes keep gazing at my lips and I feel myself leaning in more and more. We are so close I can feel his breath on my lips.
One more movement and they would be on me.

I take a leap of faith and lean in until his lips touch mine.
