Chapter 24
Unedited
Mrs Bimbo woke from a terrible dream. She sat up, let out a frustrated groaned, then she said "Ah! Mogbe! Chief is in trouble"
Dara knelt down on the tile as her hands leaned against the bed close to Boma who was still sleeping. She took a few prayer points from the devotional, the thought of Funsho crossed her mind and she smiled unconsciously so she wrapped her hands around her neck. Her gazed suddenly fell on the ring on her finger so she sighed tiredly.
"God, your daughter is conflicted, she doesn't know what to do." She complained remembering her Saturday plans so she chuckled. "See as I'm blushing thinking of someone that isn't my boyfriend" she added, she looked at the time on her phone, it was 5:35, she couldn't wait to see to see Funsho, at the same time she wished the morning could become longer because she knew she would have to face a disappointed Chris at the studio.
She had plans for the day, even though she hated to admit it, the best one was actually going to the gym, not because of the andrenaline of resuming her work outs, but rather to see Funsho's face.
Chief Duncan picked up a phone call from Tiwa after he got out of the bathroom. "Good morning brother mi" she greeted and Chief smiled. "If it's not my favorite sister. This one that you called so early in the morning. Se ko o si (Hope no problem?)"
"Rara Sir, I just thought of you Sir, how are you?"
"I'm fine, just a little tiredness because of stress sha"
"A little?" his third wife Chioma who was in bed asked and he hissed inaudibly.
"No dizziness, no weakness, nothing at all?" Tiwa pressed on and Chief shook his head, "It's stress my dear, why will I be dizzy? Wo, don't worry too much about me, I'll be fine" He answered and she faked a laughter. "Thank God Sir! I'll still emphasize the need to take a rest or a time off from work"
"I'll be fine my dear"
"The food from yesterday Sir, I was planning on getting the food flask back for Mom. Didn't you eat it?" "Oh. I didn't, the flask should be with Ruby, I gave her the food to eat"
"Who's Ruby?"
"One of the nurses at the hospital. We just hired her sha but she's a nice girl. Well trained and a good company at that"
"I'll be at the hospital later on Sir... To get the...." She trailed off and Chief smiled.
"No problem dear" he answered and she ended the call.
Tiwa dropped her phone on the bed in disappointment, "Damn it!" She snapped picking it up again. Then she put a call through to a number. "He didn't eat the food" "That explains why he's not dead yet"
"Apparently he gave the food to one stupid nurse called Ruby, and I'm sure she must be dead already."
"Can't you see what you've just done! Don't you think Chief will be suspicious of you if anything happens to her?"
"What's my freaking business with what happens to her? I'm bothered about Chief not dying and you're here talking about one nurse that I don't care about"
"Your carelessness is going to cost us a lot. If you're not careful this whole thing might just end up blowing on our faces. Tiwa you have to be careful and please leave this in my hands. I'll deal with this okay?"
"Okay"
"For the time being, I'll focus on the dead nurse"
Dunni's phone rang and Timmy raised the phone up looking at the caller ID. It was her mother so she tapped her softly. "You have a call" "All I ask from my family is a morning without distraction, is that so hard to get?" She asked and the phone stopped ringing
"It's your mom" he whispered and she groaned collecting the phone then she immediately put a call through to her. "Good morning Mom" "Where are you?"
"I'm ...." She hesitated, "I'm at my boyfriend's house" she plucked up courage to say, bracing herself up for what may come next. Maybe this was the right time for her to chip it in and see her reaction.
"Let's meet at your father's house. We'll discuss that matter later" she sounded down and Dunni sighed in worry. "Is everything okay?" She asked and Mrs Bimbo.
"Let's meet preferably this morning my dear. See you my dear"
"See you Mom" she answered hanging up then she looked at Timmy. "I can't believe I just told her that, I'm trying to picture her reaction when she finds out I'm dating someone younger" she laughed and Timmy joined her.
"What if she....."
"I don't care if she doesn't agree. I'm happy that's all that matters, that's all she has ever cared about and I'm really really happy with your Timmy" "What about Winny?"
Dunni laughed nervously, "I have no clue how I'm going to get her to know but we'll definitely cross that bridge when we get there" she ran her fingers across his chest. "Good morning love" she greeted kissing him on the lips and he passionately kissed her back.
"I told my parents about you" he revealed and she pulled back looking into his blank face to read through him but his expression was rather discouraging.
"What...." She cleared her throat, "What did they say?" "Dad..... Dad wasn't all that against it. Mom on the other hand, kind of ......"
"Oh.... Can you explain in plain English"
"She.... Was against it"
"Just say it, she hates me right? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't want to ruin your mood"
"She hasn't even met me and she hates me already" Dunni complained and Timmy laughed. "Calm down, hate is a strong word; let's say she doesn't like the fact that I'm dating you"
"Dating someone older right?"
"You're not older"
"I'm 9years older" she pointed out and Timmy gasped, "Are you serious? Cause when they see someone older, I see a very pretty and sexy woman that I want to start my life with. Dunni I love you" he confessed and she bit her lips.
"I love you too" she replied planting a kiss on his lips and a knock interrupted them.
"I'll get the door" Timmy rose up wearing his boxer short then he rushed to open the door only to find his mother by the door.
"Maami" he called out to Dunni's shock.
Funsho felt a hand touch his ears while he slept. Knowing Sewa was awake and only trying to gain his attention, he pretended to be deeply asleep. Sewa pinch his eyes and he groaned in pain, "Ouch, I'm awake!" He raised his head up, "I'm awake!" He noted and she laughed revealing her growing second tooth.
"Awwwn, your tooth is finally having a partner" he grabbed her, nibbling on cheeks and she continued laughing then she placed her palm against her father's cheeks.
He in turn kissed her on her nose. "Daddy loves you too" he confessed then his phone vibrated in bed then he picked it up.
"I want to see you at the house this morning Make it possible" "Sounds like you had a bad dream"
"Funsho jo (please)"
Mrs Akande walked into the room while Dunni sat still holding a bed sheet to her chest. "Good morning Ma" "And what do you think is good about the morning Madam?" She asked and Timmy rolled his eyes.
"Mommy, please don't even come here to cause drama"
"My son is courting an old woman and he expects me not to cause drama! It's in this kind of situation that people usually cause drama cause I don't understand what you're doing Timilehin! (Don't you want me to enjoy the fruits of my labour? Don't you want me to have grandchild, ki awon omo ko pe no Grandma (so my grandchildren can call me Grandma)"
"Mommy"
"Don't even call me Mommy, Mommy what? Do I look like your Mom to you?"
Dunni withheld her words now bowing her head, "Maami, i won't accept it" "What's my business if your don't accept it? Mrs Woman" she called out to Dunni, "Her name is Dunni"
"Do you have children?"
"I have a daughter"
"Does she know about this relationship?"
Dunni shook her head, "See, even you are ashame to tell her! Doesn't that tell you something? Okay now, how will you feel if your daughter comes after years to tell you that she'll be getting married to a man younger than she is? Out yourself in my shoes cause that's exactly how I felt when I heard about you yesterday! So as you are right now? Are you still seeing your period? Don't answer it cause I doubt! You'll be heartless to get married to my son oh. You'll be very heartless cause then he won't even have a legacy, continuity" she fumed and Dunni nodded in understanding.
She understood the point she was trying to make! Child bearing at her age usually comes with it's risk and problems, especially after so many years.
"I'll advise you to leave my son here for another woman oh cause I will never agree with this thing, I repeat, I will never ever agree!" She snapped leaving the room and Timmy scoffed looking at Dunni whose face puckered; she was about to cry.
"Your Mom is right, I didn't even think of it"
"Shhhh" Timmy sat close to her placing his palms against her cheeks. "I don't care about all she just said, if I have you, I have everything I ever wanted. Even without kids"
Bimbo knocked on the door to Chief's room and the third wife opened up. "Good morning Our wife" "Chioma greeted with a gloomy face, "Se ko si?" She asked and Chioma got out.
"Chief is inside if you want to see him, I've done my best to tell him not to go to work today" "Why?" Mrs Bimbo asked, "Well, he doesn't look well, he's already dressed up to attend to an emmergency at the hospital"
Mrs Bimbo looked at the time on her wrist watch. It was ten minutes before seven. "So early?" "If you can convince him, do cause, you know Chief only listens to you" she walked away and Mrs Bimbo entered to find her husband seated in bed. He was already dressed in a white agbada.
"Oko mi, Ife mi, oluwa mi (My husband, my love, My Lord),"he called out approaching her husband, "Eka'aro (Good morning)"
Chief blushed, "This woman, you have a way of tuning me and bringing out that joy in me" he commented and Mrs Bimbo smiled. "What are you doing here? I know you're not the type to interrupt the other wives unless when necessary" he paused then he chuckled mockingly.
"It's one of your dreams shebi?" He asked and Mrs Bimbo rolled her eyes, "It's not one of my dreams, you know my dreams usually come to pass. You know these things yet you keep on debating it every time it comes up"
"Oya what's the dream this time?"
"I dreamt about your burial" she replied and he laughed, "Which burial? The one in 2051?" He asked playfully and Mrs Bimbo shook his head. "I'm not dying anytime soon my dear. Nothing is taking my life yet"
"Are you off to work so early?" "Not exactly, well, Senator Damola's wife called me on phone, apparently her husband had another heart attack again. See when I keep on telling the man to take it easy on his work and rest more"
"O dun so lenu, sugbon o sọrọ lati se . (Easier said than done)" She answered looking away and Chief wondered why she replied that way. "Kini itumo iyen? (What do you mean by that?)"
"A lè fi ipa mu esin lo sodo a lè fi ipa fún lomi. Chief, se é mo wipe o yẹ ki é fi sùúrù se? (It's easier to give the advise but it's harder to follow it when it come to you. Chief, don't you think you should at least take it easy?)"
"Sùúrù wo? (What kind of rest?) Am I even stressing myself? I sit in the office most times except when my professional opinion is needed. I have more than twenty doctors handling the affairs of the hospital. I have even assigned a doctor to Senator Damola. I'm just going to give a professional advice and.... You know...."
"I was thinking we should organize some family get together one of these days. The whole family here in this house. Those home and abroad like Chioma's children will have to come back and observe the get together. A week of rest, all shops and businesses closed down. A week to be together as a family."
"Sounds like I'll die next week" Chief laughed and Mrs Bimbo scoffed, "Chief, this is to get you to rest and be with the family more, be with all your children. When last have we being together under the same roof? Conversing as family? Yewande becomes more difficult by the day, Chioma only wants to mind her business, our children are becoming distant, something has to bring them together and most of all. You're neglecting a lot of things and you're neglecting the need to take a rest too"
"Youre not wrong my dear, but not today"
Chioma watched the driver drive Chief out of the house from the window then she scoffed turning her head to Mrs Bimbo. "I take it he didn't listen to you" she said and Mrs Bimbo hissed. "This man is just too sturbborn!" She added and this provoked a laughter from her.
"The annoying thing is that his traits are so strong and all the children got that characteristics from him" she continued. "How are your children?" "They're all fine, I called them last night. Thanks for asking" she replied with a smile.
"Today is 27th, Adenike's birthday. I'll do well to put a call through to her" Mrs Bimbo said and Chioma raised a brow in shock. "How? Did you see that on Facebook or something?"
"I remember all my children's birthday. They're my children all right" she answered and Chioma chuckled then she sighed. "Now I feel guilty, the only person's birthday I remember is Funsho's birthday in March, I don't even know the date." She shrugged, "I guess as the oldest, I have a lot of responsibilities"
"Try telling that to that sturbborn woman Yewande, she's rude. She's a damn tribalist. The woman hated me right from the moment Chief paid my bride price. Will it kill the woman to smile for once?" Chioma hissed and Mrs Bimbo laughed, "Yewande frowns everytime, that's her face and sometimes you just have to accept people for what they are. You're not nice to me most of the times"
"Because you act too nice and I receive advice from relatives not to trust a smiling woman, especially when she's the oldest wife." She confessed, "So you don't trust me"
"The orientation you gave me the first time I came, i didn't believe your act on bit! You were too nice to accept the fact Chief remarried after you and Yewande"
"Before I, there was someone too. These things happen, I don't make hate consume me. No matter how unbelievable it is, I care about my co-wives like I care for my own sisters; don't let anyone tell you otherwise" Mrs Bimbo assured and Chioma smiled.
"This is the first time we're having this discussion.... I know I've been a difficult third wife"
Mrs Bimbo smiled again, "I was discussing with Chief about the importance of resting and having family time. A time for all the family to push work aside and focus on building unity, a stronger Duncan"
"Sounds great" she answered and Dunni walked in.
"Good morning Mom, good morning Aunty Chioma."
"Good morning" Chioma responded before excusing the both of them.
"I came as quickly as possible" she answered and her mother observed her for a bit. She could see that she has been crying and she was definitely withholding her tears. She knew if she asked any question, she'll break down!
"Ki lo se e? Se ara e ya sha? (What happened to you? Are you alright?)"
"Yes, why won't I be?" She asked and her mother folded her arms. "I know you too much, you know you can't lie to me. What happened? I won't forget you said you were at your boyfriend's place. A boyfriend that I didn't know you had"
"I need a drink right now"
"What happened?" Mrs Bimbo questioned now moving close to her. "Did he do anything wrong?" "No! Timmy's just.... he's just perfect" a small smile escaped her lips.
"He's not the problem, I'm 9years older than him and ... Today his mother stopped by at his house and.... she said some things but she wasn't wrong. What was I thinking? I mean, Timmy must definitely want kids and I'm too old to have one"
"You're just fourty"
"Mom, don't make it sound like 40 is 20. I'm old and.... I wish..... I just wish I met Timmy earlier" she ran her hands then she chuckled and her mother pressed her palm against cheeks.
"You've always been so quick to fall in and out of love"
"I had my reasons with Thomas"
"You still haven't told me those reasons yet and I'm your mother Dunni, if you don't tell me things who else will you tell?" She asked and Dunni stormed in taking a seat. "Mom that's not the most important thing now. I'm confused here and I don't know what to do with Timmy's mother. I don't know if I should let him be, but I'm already in love with him and..." She stalled busting into tears.
Mrs Bimbo sat on the couch then she held her daughter's hands. "Does he love you the way you do?" She asked and Dunni smiled. "I believe he does, he said he doesn't care whether I get pregnant or not, but I know every man needs a child. The reality of our relationship just dawned on me, it's all too good to be true!"
"Does Winny know?"
"No." Dunni replied, "She's not going to like the idea and..." She trailed off on looking into her mother's disapproving face. Mrs Bimbo shook her head, "You should tell her" "We finally reconciled, we just started afresh and she's no longer angry with me. You know how Winny still wants her father and I together"
"No buts Dunni, tell her early and shun the consequences. If this is the man you'll end up choosing, you might as well tell her so she can get used to the idea. You better fix a date to introduce him to me too cause I'm interested in knowing the first man my daughter took interest in after so many years" she replied and this forced a laughter out of Dunni who wiped her tears off using her fingers then she sniffled.
"Mommy he's an amazing person, kind, honest and caring. He's also making me put dirty habits in check" she explained and Tise walked in. "Aunty Dunni finally takes interest in a man, this has to be interesting" she chipped in and Dunni giggled.
"Is that supposed to be your good morning?"
"Good morning Mom, good morning sister mi" she squeezed herself in between the both of them. "So what's the gist?"
"Hundred squats!" Oise yelled in a room with about nine women including Dara who began doing hers.
"Feet shoulder-width apart!" He corrected a woman who was doing hers wrongly.
Dara looked at the door as though expecting Funsho to come in anytime.
Funsho walked into his father's living room and his mother flashed a smile at him. "Good morning Ma, good morning Dunni" he bowed his head before sitting on a one seater chair. "Mom, you might have to rush this up" he glanced at his wrist watch knowing Dara must have already arrived at the gym.
"I have somewhere I have to be" he cleared his throat and Tise sniggered knowing why he was in a hurry.
"Where?"
"The gym"
"When did you start caring about the time you arrive at the gym. If I remember vividly, you barely go there" "Well, things are not as they are any longer. Not with Dara around" she chipped in and Dunni gasped. Though she had her suspect but this just made it clearer! No wonder Omotoyosi was angry!
"The girl from the tea party?"
"Yes sis. Our dear brother likes her" she answered and Funsho rolled his eyes. "Is this what you guys came here to discuss? I have to rush off"
Mrs Bimbo gave him a familiar smile to tease him and he laughed. "I don't think I'm the topic here, I do hope I'm not the topic" he pleaded and the three women seated quitely stared at him.
"Please, I have to go"
"Why is it so necessary"
"Because I ...." He trailed off, "I need to see her before she leaves okay? I've made it a routine and you know how I usually get acclimated to routines. So... Can we move on?"
"The Funsho Duncan I knew would have won that girl's heart and probably had her in bed, you've always had the habit of breaking girl's heart and disappointing them. Who are you and what have you done to my brother?" Dunni asked and everyone laughed.
"I'm not the same man I was, I'm a different man Dunni"
Dunni smiled, "I guess love makes us to the unbelievable!" She muttered and Tise chuckled. "Well, our sister here is also in love with another person"
"Ma sofo nibi (Keep gossiping here) You won't go and find your own love interest" "Mom, I'm less concerned about love for now. This story isn't about me, Mom" she replied staring directly at Funsho.
"I called you guys specifically to discuss about your father's health"
"What's wrong with Dad?" They all asked in worry, "I've been having dreams, you know how my dreams are when they're not prevented. I dreamt about your father getting sick the other day, then I dreamt about him dying and I've been seeing burials. I think someone is trying to kill your father"
Dunni, Funsho and Tise hissed out loud at the same time. They all assumed their mother was only being paranoid. "Ta ni ẹ poṣe si? (Who are you guys hissing at?)" She asked, "We're sorry Mom" Dunni answered, "Mom, I'm sorry but... We all know Dad is fine. The man is as strong as a horse"
"I know the feeling I'm having, I know deep down that someone is trying to kill your father. I don't know who but I know what I feel"
Tise sighed, "What do you want us to do for him? Hire security guards?" She asked and her mother shook her head. "I want you guys to try and convince your father to take a break from work and rest. He's getting old but he's still working"
"Dad won't take a rest unless there's someone to take the vacant position. I'm not fit to be in charge, I'm yet to go back to the clinic cause I'm still healing. Gbade has been relieved of his job, well unless Dad hands the whole thing to Thomas" she shrugged and all eyes turned towards Funsho.
"Why are you all staring at me?" He asked and Dunni scoffed. "We all know if you were the one, Dad wouldn't have hesitated to leave the hospital in your care."
"Well it's too late now. He should reconsider Gbade or Thomas. I dropped that life okay? I'm not picking it up anytime soon" "Can you guys at least help me convince your father to rest, I've spoken to him but if you all can help me, I'll be more than happy"
Dara wiped her face with a face towel after her exercise meanwhile looking at the door. Somehow, she was beginning to feel uneasy not seeing him. She knew his presence will definitely brighten her day!
Oise noticed walking towards her, "This one that you've been looking outside like as if you're expecting someone" he teased giggling to himself and Dara hissed.
"Is Funsho's in?" She asked and he shrugged, "I haven't left this place, maybe you should stop by at his office now"
"Maybe"
"Dunni, can I speak to you real fast?" Funsho requested after the meeting, "Sure" she replied walking out of the house with him. "I hope everything's fine"
"Not exactly. When last did you see Winny?"
"Two days ago when we reconciled; we've been speaking on phone" "Didn't you notice anything different in her?" He asked and she shook her head, "No. Why?"
"I think you should run a pregnancy test on her; Shade thinks she's pregnant" he blurted out to her shock.
Dara finally dressed in a blue short sleeves shirt tucked in a black skirt checked out Funsho's office for the second time. To her disappointment, he wasn't in. She wanted to put a call through to him but she didn't know how it'll make her look like.
She dipped her phone back into her handbag then she left the gym.
Funsho parked his car at the parking lot then he zoomed in hoping to still meet up with Dara. When he found Oise sitting alone, he walked up to him smiling. "Where's Dara?" He asked and his eyes focused on the gym entrance.
"She just left not quite long"
Funsho scoffed in frustration, "Like when?" "Like ten minutes if not fifteen minutes ago" Oise replied and he hissed.
Dara sadly walked into the studio then she bumped into Boma by the stairs. "Why your face be like this? Bad exercise day?" "Something like that." She exhaled.
"Have you seen the Boss?"
"Yes but I've been avoiding looking into his face. He's not happy at all, the guy no get joy at all. Besides, I know he must be using the same lying eyes to look at me" "Like Chief is looking at me now!"
"Babe, shebi I've apologized for that one now!" Boma snapped and Dara hissed, "What if he fires me?" Dara asked and Boma disagreed by shaking her head. "He's not like that, he's a nice person, he can't be that immature" she commented.
"Let me see me now" Dara replied. She went over to Chris' office where she entered after knocking twice. Chris who was working on his laptop took his gaze off the laptop to her then he returned back to what he was doing.
"Good morning Sir"
"Good morning" he answered without taking his eyes off what he was doing. "How was your night?" She asked then she shut her eyes realizing how insensitive the question was.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked that. Jesus! I'm sorry about what happened" she apologized, "I knew her lies we're definitely going to get caught up to her but I never wanted to be dragged down with her lies or painted black."
"You could have told me"
"I could have but I couldn't. I wanted to from the first day you told me the only thing you knew about her was the fact she worked at S and A. I wanted to but I didn't want to be a bad sister and the way you spoke about her, you really liked her and i ..... I'm just making excuses right? I know. I should leave then" she turned her back and Chris rolled his eyes.
"I'm not angry at you Dara, I'm just ..... disappointed. You could have told me, at least I would have known the kind of person she was or is"
"Brenda is a sweet person, she is actually good but the only bad part is the lies"
"You say it like it's something one can overlook? A woman who...." He paused, "A woman who denied her own son in front of him is worst than anything I've ever seen before! I'm pissed off at Brenda and I don't think I can ever forgive her for this."
Dara exhaled, "I'm really sorry", "Don't be, my eyes are opened now." "Is it because of S and A or Kelvin?" "I wouldn't mind having that boy to be my first child. I wouldn't at all so it's not because of Kelvin, it's the lies, I won't want to marry a woman that only train my children to lie"
"I'm sorry" Dara apologized leaving his office so he called Funsho's phone line, "I'll be at your Mom's restaurant, let's meet"
"This is Dara's corner on 95.5 mood, the question is, can you begin a relationship with lies? Have you ever began a relationship with lies, can a lying relationship progress to marriage? If it can, how do you cope with the lies then?"
"I'm heart broken" Chris confessed to Funsho, at the Duncan's restaurant. "I can feel your plight, especially when the person in question is closer to the person I'm in love with"
There was a brief silence, "Are you both going to reconcile?" Funsho asked, Chris shook his head. I don't know man, I just don't know if I can bring myself to be with a liar."
"You said it yourself, she came out straight with you"
"After I found out! Funsho, there's no justification for what she did. Imagine raising my children to tell lies. Unless she changes, I don't know man, I guess I just have to wait. Can we change the topic into a more cheerful one. What about you and the love of your life?"
"She's getting married, she got proposed right in my presence yesterday morning" Funsho replied and Chris laughed. "I guess I wasn't the only one having a bad day then! I feel for you too my brother" he laughed and Funsho laughed too.
"Did you cry like I did?" He added, "A little" Funsho confessed.
"Power of a woman, I don't know why I feel the need to see Dara every now and then. I wanted to go to studio using you as an excuse so I could at least see her face but it's not possible and I'm feeling really uneasy not seeing her"
"Why don't you call her"
"And say what? I'm opened to ideas, what am I supposed to say? I miss you badly already and I want to see you" he asked and Chris chuckled. "Someone's wife oh"
"You have that chemistry with her and Dara's a good woman even though she hid the truth from me. Personally, I think you shouldn't give up on her. She's a good woman, worth fighting for"
Funsho smiled, "Maybe you shouldn't give up on Brenda too" he advised and Chris cringed his nose in disapproval so Funsho raised his hands up. "Hey man, it's just a suggestion. You can do what you damn well please. If there's anyone who knows about bad habits, it'll be me and I know how difficult the journey can be without support from someone. All I'm saying is you can help her through this, it's going to make it easier for her. Give her a reason to change that habit, I had mine."
"You do know it's past ten and Dara's already on air" Chris noted and Funsho checked the time on his wrist watch. "Shit! Thirty minutes gone already!"
"That'll be all for today. I'll leave you all with Bad influence, Omah lay" she ended her show and Ehiz called her attention. "Nice one Babe" he gave her a things up then he cleared his throat. "There's someone outside waiting for you."
"Who? Invite her in"
"She said she's comfortable being outside" he replied and she shrugged leaving the studio for the next presenter.
She walked out of the studio to find CeCee standing at the parking lot. She wanted to turn back but she realized it was too late so she slowly approached her.
CeCee who had a dark shade on, took it off now smiling at her. "Hello Dara" she greeted and Dara shrugged, she didn't even know whether to respond or not.
Wasn't this the same woman who threatened her a week ago?
"Good morning"
"You know I was listening to your show. Lovely show you have there" "Thank.... you" Dara replied, "Personally, I hate lies and I don't hide my true nature from people. I never do!"
"Why are you being nice to me then"
"I was hoping we could reach a..." She stalled on seeing the ring on her fingers. "Reach a compromise. Wait.... You're engaged" she smiled and Dara hid her fingers.
"Wait.... You're not happy with the engagement right? Why did you agree at first?" She asked and Dara kept quiet while CeCee read her expression.
"You're confused, is that it? You like someone else, let me guess? My Funsho right?" She asked and Dara looked away. CeCee laughed, "Isn't he handsome? I mean.... Your fiance?"
"Efe is good looking"
"Why are you out for my Funsho then?"
"I'm not out for anyone"
"You are. It's written all over your face, you like him and the first stage of getting over him is accepting that fact or else you'll keep denying it and the feelings will grow even more! Accept it Dara Igwe, you like Funsho Duncan yes or no?" She asked and Dara exhaled.
"I'm sorry but i really don't want to have this discussion" she snapped and CeCee laughed. "Is the sex not enough with this Efe? You want something more, you want my Funsho don't you?"
Dara shuddered in irritation, "It doesn't always have to be about the sex. Liking someone for me has never been about that, somethings comes naturally"
"Wait.... You're a virgin" she mocked laughing, and Dara looked away, suddenly feeling uncomfortable with the way she laughed.
"What's funny?"
"You do know Funsho's a sex addict right? Imagine someone like you with someone like him, it's not possible. Let me tell you a little love story about Funsho and I. We were so good together, I was the one person that satisfied him. The one person that contained him, the one person who tamed him. Oh the good old days, you have no idea who the real Funsho is, you're just blinded by the sweetness and his charms. Trust me, dealing with Funsho is going to take more than what you think; I don't mean to be too froward but, Funsho deserves to be with someone who knows him in and out, his favorite sexual positions, his favorite food and fantasies and dark secrets and that person my dear Dara isn't you. Are we clear?"
