Not Too Bad

A little bit of Quackity and Tubbo bonding :D I have like 4 or 5 one-shots planned, so I'll try to get those out quickly, and a few of those are continuation of Congragulations/This Time I'm Dying so that'll be fun :)

Tubbo watched as the sun dropped low over the ocean. The fresh sea breeze that filtered over the bay was a little chilly in the autumn months as it rushed through the tall dock buildings a faint howling could be heard, it sent a jolt up Tubbo's back.

He wished more than anything that his friends would emerge from the distant spruce forest to retrieve him, to take him with them into the heart of the cold forest or wherever they had set up their camp. Maybe if he set himself off in one of the many little skiffs that lined the dock, he could find some sign of them. He just needed reassurance.

For all Tubbo knew, they were being torn apart by the wolf packs that hunted throughout the cool nights or starving out there with no one but each other for company in their final moments of pure, electrifying freedom that Tubbo craved for about now.

This was the first time Tubbo was truly able to get out from under Schlatt's firm grasp on his shoulder, though he still felt like the clawed hand was perched on his shoulder; of course, that could always be from the bruise that Tubbo could feel blossoming across his shoulder.

Loneliness is a hollowing feeling and he was really alone this time. Niki could barely walk out of her home without some stupid charge being sicked on her, Eret was who knows where, Fundy was... having a character ark of his own, and Jack was in the same boat as Eret.

Tubbo brought up the day's log, looking over them a few times. Early this morning everyone had been pinged when a new figure had joined the server, Technoblade. Tubbo had known that Schlatt's administration was doomed from the start, but he hadn't expected them to be that screwed.

Schlatt spoke about how Techno was secretly on their side, acting as a double agent, but Tubbo doubted that and assumed it was more of a fear tactic within his own ranks. Plus Tubbo remembered the many stories that Tommy had told about the ominous man who frightened even their strongest, the man who conquered a desolate land, and then the world.

Tubbo looked up at the sky, the evening star shone brightly near the horizon as the last of the sun dropped into the freezing ocean. Tubbo knew the temperature was about to plummet, but he just pulled his sweater close around him and curled up a little tighter.

Tubbo didn't quite understand how the stars were almost the exact same across all worlds, but it gave Tubbo a strange sense of hope. Somewhere out there, Wilbur, Tommy, and Technoblade were looking up at the same stars. So was Dream and Purpled and Punz and whoever, all the way back in the lands of the SMP. And across many planes of existence Badlinu, Deo, Bitzel, Pigical, all their old friend's who they hadn't seen in what feels like an eternity, looking at the same stars.

The sound of wood creaking underfoot alerted Tubbo of his surroundings. His head swerved around and looked up. The last of the evening light shone warmly onto a familiar figure, Quackity. He gave Tubbo a weak smile and went to sit down by him.

He reached out to put his hand across Tubbo's shoulder, but Tubbo flinched away. Not walking any pressure put onto his already aching and bruising muscles.

Quackity quickly pulled his hand back and mumbled an apology, "You too, huh?" He asked. Tubbo gave him a confused look before he continued, "Schlat's got one hell of a grip" he chuckled. "Those sharp ass nails don't help either I guess."

Tubbo nodded, "Yeah, I guess," he mumbled. "He hasn't let me leave his side for the past ten hours or something, though I guess it's been about the same for you."

Quackity nodded, "Mhm, unless it's just some small task like getting more ink or something stupid like that," he shook his head, "Sometimes it's hard having the fattest ass in the cabinet, Toobo."

That one got him. Tubbo sputtered out a laugh, shaking his head as Quackity grinned at him, giving him a soft pat on the back, making sure not to hit his shoulder. "What's on your mind, kid?" Quackity asked.

Tubbo shrugged, looking back over the spruce hills, "I just hope they're okay," Tubbo explained, while he didn't mention who, but it was pretty easy to understand, "Well, I know they'll be alright, especially since they have Technoblade with them."

Quackity stopped him, "Tell me more about that guy; Like I know who he is of course, but like how the hell did Tommy get him on his side? Those two seem like they would clash quite a lot," Quality asked.

"Oh, that's all from SMPEarth. Technoblade and Schlatt were some of his... idols? I don't know if that's the right word, but Tommy thought both of them were really cool, so when Tommy had the opportunity to fight against Techno, even if it made him look like the big bad villain, he took it," Tubbo explained to him.

Quackity laughed, "Yeah, that sounds like a Tommy thing to do."

Tubbo nodded, "Yep. So Technoblade and Mr. Philza Minecraft took over the globe, Wilbur stopped them in court, Tommy cracked some jokes, got some scars, and the rest was history I guess."

"That's about when I got my first permanent scar, it's so stupid. Tommy had asked me to assassinate this guy named Pete, and so when we went to do so. He was asleep but somehow managed to hit me across the head with a fishing pole so hard that I... died" Tubbo explained, moving some locks of hair out of the way and pointing to a small bruise.

Quackity let out a loud cackle, quickly covering his mouth and looking over his shoulder to make sure he didn't attract attention. "How did that even happen?"

Tubbo shrugged, "I wish I knew!" He laughed. "That was definitely an interesting time."

"It sounds like it," Quackity agreed.

The two set in comfortable silence for a bit, watching as the moon started to rise higher into the sky until they were both interrupted by a ping on their comms. Tubbo sighed, knowing vaguely what it was going to say. He begrudgingly looked down to find the notification.

He and Quackity both read through it, looked at each other, and sighed. "Well, nothing good lasts forever as Wilbur would say," Tubbo said in a melancholy tone, pushing himself out of his sitting position and dusting himself off. Quackity soon followed suit with a nod.

"This was pleasant, Tubbo," Quackity said sincerely, "Maybe when this whole thing is over you and whoever else can tell me more about your past adventures," He told Tubbo.

Tubbo nodded, giving him a faint smile before letting it slip away. "Let's get moving, Schlatt will probably need to have some long talk anyways," Tubbo said, turning his back to Quackity and towards the hill. Quackity nodded and walked after him, turning in a different direction than Tubbo so it didn't look as suspicious.

Sure, his friends were lost in the woods, but maybe Tommy wasn't quite as alone as he thought.
