AUTHOR'S POV          

~one month later~

Larry is standing in front of the stove working diligently on the succulent dinner menu he's had planned all week. As he stands there his mind reflects on the past month. After their last therapy session they came back home and were more excited about their future than they ever have been. First, Laurent finally purchased his new car. A 2015 candy apple red Lexus IS 250 that Larry seems to love more than his own car...but of course Laurent doesn't mind as everything they have is shared. Larry also continued the tender care of his love and with his natural/holistic treatments and light yoga for his injury Laurent is getting stronger and stronger. In fact, they had an amazing opportunity to open up the 2015 Fusion Concept battle to which Larry showed some reservation about but as he's always said...his brother is strong so he knows he's fine. His leg was giving him some difficulty but it seems as though he never missed a beat. Many people didn't even realize that it was bandaged because he just moved and glided across the dance floor so effortlessly. Of course at times he would scare Larry with certain moves and he really scared him when he thought he was going to do his famous death drop but when he faked him and everyone else out he just smiled and laughed to himself because not only is the caring and loving Laurent back the fun and silly Laurent is as well. That Laurent is at the heart of who he truly is. Larry also can't help but think about after the event when everyone showered Laurent with so much love. Whether they were telling him how grateful they are that he's ok from the car accident to how awesome he danced. Larry just stepped back and basked in it. His smile became bigger as he watched Laurent's face light up at the affection and compliments he received and he can still recall some of the things said to him...

"Man, you did all that on a bum leg"?!

"Wow Laurent, I had no idea! You completely floored me"!

"You're awesome man. Keep it up"!

The more comments he recalls the more he can feel his heart swell because he also thinks about their last battle and how Laurent was in such a different head space...the pain of him feeling as though he wasn't good enough in so many areas of his life still lingering at that time. So to witness him come alive again knowing how much he's missed dance and how much Larry missed seeing him in his element made that the best battle they've been to in a long time. Still smiling, Larry lightly shakes his head and puts his focus back on dinner when he feels two strong arms snake around his waist then whisper in his ear...

Laurent: "Hey my love". 

Larry: *smile* "Hey baby".

Larry takes a moment to turn his head in Laurent's direction and place a soft kiss on his lips before continuing dinner...

Laurent: "It smells so good in here".

Larry: "Thank you...but it will be a little bit longer before it's ready".

Laurent: "It's fine bebe. Your hands are cooking it so I can wait forever".

Larry smiles sweetly as Laurent softly kisses his neck...

Laurent: "So how does it feel to cook for the first time in your new home"?

Larry: "It feels great and I can't believe it's in the house we wanted".

Laurent: "I know. Lilo has her pink room and the Eiffel tower so I don't have to hire anybody".

Larry: *laugh* "Yeah but it was so sweet that you think for that".

Laurent: "Always bebe".

Laurent places more kisses on Larry's neck with Larry smiling harder as he's reminded of the moment they found out the house was available again...

~flashback~

It was a few days after their last therapy session and a lovely Friday afternoon. The two were on the couch watching various sitcoms. Laurent was resting his injured leg comfortably on the table and Larry had his head on Laurent's chest which was increasingly becoming more comfortable than any pillow he could ever have. They were in pure bliss simply being next to each other when Laurent's phone rang... 

Laurent: "Hello"?

"Mr. Bourgeois, it's Kathy".

Laurent: "Hi. How are you"?

Kathy: "I'm wonderful. How are you"? 

Laurent: "I'm great. What's up"?

Kathy: "Well I wanted to let you know that 1948 Birchwood Lane is available for purchase again".

Laurent: "Are you serious"?!

Kathy: *laugh* "I am".

Naturally this alarmed Larry so he quickly lifted his head up and looked at Laurent then whispered, "What is it baby"?

Laurent: "The house we love is available again"!

Larry's eyes widened as his mouth dropped in pure astonishment...

Laurent: "How did that happen"?

Kathy: "The couple decided that they no longer wanted it and withdrew from the process so I wanted to call you first to let you know".

Laurent: "We want it! What do we need to do"?

Kathy: "Just be down at my office sometime tomorrow and we'll get started".

Laurent: "We will be there first thing in the morning. Thank you so much"!

Kathy: "My pleasure".

Laurent released the call then looked at Larry in pure disbelief. There were no words exchanged because Larry quickly leaned forward and crashed his lips onto Laurent's. Seeing Larry so happy about it made Laurent's heart flutter and he couldn't wait to get the process started so Larry could be even happier...

Everything seemed to flow seamlessly after that and the keys being handed over to them knowing that this time they weren't being used to just view the home felt so good. Between Laurent's injury healing, moving in and dancing again they're feeling so good emotionally and spiritually. Now officially moved in and it's not only their first official night in the new home this is the first big meal Larry is cooking and like Laurent requested Larry is cooking because he wants to, not because he was told to... 

Larry: "Thank you so much baby. I love this house".

Laurent: "Welcome. You know I love to see you so happy".

Larry: *smile* "I know...and I love you".

Laurent: "I love you more". 

Laurent places a few more kisses on the back of Larry's neck and cheek before changing the subject... 

Laurent: "You know something bebe? I think we should hook Stephanie up with someone".

Larry: *laugh* "Oh yeah? Who"?

Laurent: "I don't know yet but we know so many people. I'm sure we can find someone".

Larry: "I don't know how she will feel for that".

Laurent: "Well, let's ask her. Hey Stephanie"!

Stephanie: "Yeah"?!

Laurent: "Can you come here for a second"?

Stephanie: "On my way"!

Larry: *laugh* "She's going to kill you".

At that moment she walks into the kitchen...

Stephanie: "What's up"?

Larry turns around and she instantly sees their expressions so she asks suspiciously...

Stephanie: "Guys? What's going on"?

Laurent: "Well we were just thinking that...."

Larry: *laugh* "Oh no. Don't bring me in it. This is all Laurent's idea".

Stephanie: "What's all Laurent's idea"?

Laurent: "Well...I want to hook you up with someone".

Stephanie: *laugh* "What? Laurent..."

Laurent: "I'm serious. You're too good of a person to be single".

Stephanie: *smile* "Well thanks but I don't think so. I'm just...focused on my career right now".

In his best "Stephanie voice" Laurent playfully mocks her...

Laurent: "I'm just focused on my career right now".

Stephanie in turn playfully waves her fist at him as she bites her lower lip and smiles at the same time...

Laurent: *laugh* "Oki, I'm sorry. Just let me do this for you, please? I promise I won't set you up with somebody crazy".

Stephanie: *chuckles* "Well thank you". 

Laurent: "So what do you say"?

*pause*

Stephanie: *smile* "Ok fine. You can stop twisting my arm now".

Laurent: "Yay! Thank you"!

Stephanie just smiles and shakes her head when they're all alarmed by a sweet voice...

"Papa! Uncle Laurent! Ms. Stephy"!

They all run into the living room to see what Lilo is so excited about...

Larry: "What is it baby"?! 

Lilo: "Look, we finished the puzzle Ms. Stephy bought me"! 

Laurent: "Wow, good job"!

Sabrina: "Well Lilo put most of it together. Dominic just watched her mostly. I think he has a crush on her".

Dominic: "Mommyyyy".

Sabrina: *laugh* "Aww, I'm sorry sweetheart".

Dominic just drops his head in adorable embarrassment...

Jason: "It's alright buddy. Mommy didn't mean to embarrass you". *turns to Sabrina* "But it's cute to see him so shy like that". 

Sabrina: *smile* "Yeah really".

Larry: "Sorry dinner is taking forever but it's almost ready".

Sabrina: "It's no problem Larry. We appreciate you guys inviting us over and the appetizers you made for us were excellent".

Larry: *smile* "Welcome...and thank you". *pause* "Well I'll go back and finish now". 

Laurent stays with their guests while Larry goes back to dinner and eventually everything is ready. In addition to the chicken quesadillas, ricotta stuffed mushrooms and the tomato basil bruschetta appetizers he made dinner consists of prosciutto wrapped grilled chicken, scalloped potatoes and a green bean casserole. And of course everything is made from scratch...

Jason: "Wow. This looks amazing Larry".

Larry: *smile* "Thank you. I hope you like it".

Jason: *smile* "I'm sure we will". 

Laurent takes the liberty of blessing the food for everyone and afterward he has something else on his heart to say...

Laurent: "Everyone, I want to make a toast if that's oki". 

Larry: *smile* "That's perfect".

Everyone lifts their glasses then Laurent proceeds...

Laurent: "We just want thank you all for coming to share in the joy we feel in us new home. We're so excited to be here. We both loved it the moment we saw it so to live here now feels amazing. We're also excited to dance again and to travel all over the world because dance means so much to us". *pause* "I also want to congratulate Jason and Sabrina on their engagement. Sabrina, you and Dominic are all Jason talked about in rehab. I am so happy that your family is back together and I wish you a life of health and happiness".

Sabrina: *smile* "Thank you Laurent".

Jason: *smile* "Yeah thanks man. We appreciate that".

Laurent: *smile* "Welcome". *pause* "So cheers"!

All: "Cheers"!

The clanking of their glasses come together before Laurent takes his seat. Tonight dinner is served family style. Lilo sits in between Larry and Laurent and Larry notices Laurent cutting her food up for her as he laughs and talks to everyone at the table. It's certainly a sight to see as he's always been crazy about Lilo. They all continue to converse, happy and carefree, with everyone complimenting Larry on such a delicious meal to which he's very grateful. After dinner, they retreat to their large backyard and as they watch the kids play together they continue conversation. It turned out to be a lovely evening and now it has eventually come to an end. Larry says his goodbyes to Sabrina, Jason and Dominic and leaves Laurent to them before going over and saying bye to his best friend... 

Stephanie: *smile* "Larry, be honest with me. Who is Laurent trying to set me up with"?

Larry: *chuckles* "I don't know yet. He just said somebody but don't worry. You're my best friend and I'll make sure it's a great person who deserves you and will treat you like a queen".

Stephanie: *smile* "Ok". *pause* "Well I'll see you guys later and thanks for inviting me. Dinner was amazing as usual".

Larry: "Welcome...and thank you. Drive carefully".

After giving her a peck on the cheek he holds the car door open like the gentleman he is then watches her drive off and smiles to himself as he can only imagine who Laurent has in mind for her...but he means what he said as he really cares for Stephanie. At that moment Lilo runs over and jumps his arms then they go inside...

Laurent: "Well it was good to see you guys. Thanks for coming"..

Jason: *smile* "Anytime". *pause* "Congrats on the new house and...everything. No one is more deserving of all of this than you two. I'm proud of you buddy" .

Laurent: *smile* "Thanks man". 

They give each other a bro hug then Laurent gives Sabrina a kiss on the cheek and Dominic a high five as that's their thing now before they all get in the car and take off. When he goes inside, he notices Larry and Lilo has started their usual tradition of Larry taking Lilo's height measurement against the wall just like they did in their old house. He watches and smiles as Larry playfully drops his mouth open and points to the line he drew as Lilo turns her head up to look at it. Then he walks over and kneels next to them...   

Laurent: *smile* "Well"?

Larry: *smile* "She grew one inch".

Laurent: "Wow! So I guess my princess is growing up, huh"?

He tickles her as he asked that question causing her to giggle. Then he speaks to Larry...

Laurent: "I think we should have one more toast to each other before we go to sleep. You have the wine, I'll have the Sprite".

Larry: *smile* "Oki. We can do that".

Laurent: *smile* "Perfect". *pause* "Princess, you go upstairs and enjoy your new room. Your papa will be up soon for bath time".

Lilo: "Oki uncle but...can you read me my bedtime story tonight"?

Laurent's heart just stops. He then looks at Larry and all Larry can do is smile and nod so he turns to look back at Lilo and smiles...

Laurent: "Of course princess". 

Her eyes light up before she turns to make her way upstairs and to her room. Laurent pours their drinks then hands Larry's glass to him...

Laurent: "Bebe, this toast is to us. I'm so excited for us new life in us new home. We can't wipe away the past but I will treat you so good that it will soon be a distant memory". *pause* "I love you so much bebe and as I said in my speech...you are and will always be my life".

With his heart completely full all Larry can do is smile and whisper...

Larry: "I love you too baby".

They take a sip then step toward each other and kiss for what could be forever before Larry remembers that it's Lilo's bath time...

Larry: "I have to give princess her bath now".

Laurent: "Oki bebe. I'm going to clean the kitchen".

Lilo chose the book "Goodnight Moon" for her uncle to read to her. She takes her place under the covers as she rests her head against his arm and listens intently to her uncle who's even animated as he reads to her...

Laurent: "Good night room. Good night moon. Good night cow jumping over the moon".

Lilo sweetly interrupts him to ask him a question...

Lilo: "Uncle Laurent"?

Laurent: "Yes"?

Lilo: "If you feed a cow chocolate will you get chocolate milk"?

Laurent smiles then lightly chuckles...

Laurent: "Yeah princess. And you know what else"?

As cheerful and as excited as ever Lilo replies...

Lilo: "What"?! 

Laurent: "If you spin a cow around real fast, you'll get whip cream"!

Lilo: "Woooww. You know a lot".

Laurent: *smile* "Thank you".

He kisses her forehead then continues reading until the story is finished...

Laurent: "Well I'm sad to say but that's it for story time my love".

Lilo: "Oki".

Lilo thinks it's time to go to sleep now...but Laurent has something he wants to talk with her about...

Laurent: "Hey princess. Can your uncle Laurent talk to you for a minute"?

Lilo: "Yes uncle".

Laurent: "Oki". *pause* "Well the last time you came to visit us you asked your papa if he was afraid of me and I want to be honest with you. Do you know what honest means"?

Lilo: "Yes! It means that you always tell the truth no matter what"!

Laurent: "That's right princess. You're such a smart girl". *kisses forehead* "Now your uncle did have some problems. I was really angry a lot and I started to do some bad things. I wasn't sure why I was so angry or why I did those things but when it got really bad I decided it was time to get help so I went away for a while. I talked to a really smart lady who helped me realize my problems and now I'm doing much better so I want you to know that. I also want you to know that I will never go back to that bad place ever again. I never want you or your papa afraid and I will work so hard to make sure of that". *pause* "You and your papa are my entire life and I love you both so much. We are a family, we will always be a family and no one or nothing will ever change that, oki"? 

Lilo: "Oki uncle". 

*brief pause*

Laurent: "I love you princess".

Lilo: "I love you too". 

He envelopes Lilo in a hug and they stay embraced for several beautiful moments. Little does either of them know a certain someone has been watching them for quite a while now and the door is cracked just enough for him to see their entire exchange. His head is tilted and resting against the panel, a light yet sweet smile on his face as he listened to Laurent's delicate voice reading to Lilo. He lightly chuckled to himself as he told her about the whole chocolate cow/whip cream fiasco thinking how incredibly adorable that was. It was such a beautiful moment. So much so that he doesn't realize tears are rolling down his cheeks. Laurent eventually breaks their hug...

Laurent: "Oki my love. It's time for you to go to sleep because we have a big day of fun planned for tomorrow. We're going shopping, the park and lunch".

Lilo: *smile* "Yay"!

Laurent: *laugh* "Good night my princess".

Lilo: "Good night uncle Laurent".

Larry quickly but quietly leaves so he won't be spotted while Laurent turns on her night light, turns to blow her a kiss then shuts off the main light and leaves the room. He's on his way to their bedroom when he hears a whisper and spins around...

Larry: *smile* "Hey".

Laurent: *smile* "Hey. What are you doing"?

Larry slowly walks up to him still smiling before softly replying... 

Larry: "Falling more and more in love with you".

Laurent: *smile* "Oh yeah"?

Larry: "Yeah. I heard you talking to princess". 

Laurent softly shakes his head and lightly takes Larry's chin between his thumb and index finger...

Laurent: *smile* "So you were eavesdropping"?

Larry: *smile* "Yeah".

Still smiling and slowly shaking his head from side to side he playfully asks...

Laurent: "What am I going to do with you"?

*brief pause*

Larry: "Love me".

Laurent: "Always", he whispers.

They come together to share a few sweet kisses before...

Laurent: "Come on. Let's go to bed".

Larry: "I'll be there in a minute. I'm going to make sure the house is locked up first".

Laurent: "Oki. Don't take too long my love".  

They had been holding on to each other's hand and when they break a part they hold on to it until their arms can no longer be stretched then release them. Larry heads downstairs while Laurent goes to the bedroom to get himself ready for bed. Meanwhile, Larry is checking on everything and while he's looking around he's still in shock that they're in their dream home...but of course he's elated. After setting the alarm then making sure everything is turned off he makes his way back upstairs. Laurent is comfortable in bed and sound asleep. Soon after Larry is climbing in...careful not to wake him and just like in their old house the full moon is glowing inside and it allows Larry to see that gorgeous face. He continues to gaze at it until...

Laurent: "I can't believe you look at me this long and didn't try to steal a kiss".

After taking a hot, relaxing shower together Larry's head is on Laurent's chest as Laurent lightly rubs his arm. For the effects of his medication to mimic the euphoria he felt with the cocaine and him being able to recognize that is simply mind blowing. That was such a pivotal moment in their relationship because to put himself through so much pain and discomfort all because he was afraid that the more he got that feeling the more he thought he would go back to the bad stuff couldn't have warmed Larry's heart more. That was when he knew that not only was Laurent completely free from that part of his life he also knew they would be ok...but even knowing all that when Larry thinks about the guarded, angry Laurent and how afraid of him he was to now seeing the warm, compassionate Laurent he was before? There are not enough words to describe that feeling. For the first week being back home and being a creature of habit Larry would go to set his alarm at night the way he use to because of Laurent's previous demands of having his breakfast on time...but then he would stop himself and smile because that was no longer necessary. They're now sharing the cooking and household responsibilities and on top of that Laurent is still keeping Larry's PTSD episode in mind as he takes special care to be as delicate as he can be with every touch and in every caress. Every night he's comfortable and secure in Laurent's arms as he sleeps. Even with Laurent's words Larry feels safer as there's no yelling, no words of intimidation so it brings him extreme joy to know that there has been no trace of Laurent's anger at all. There's also a lightness to his voice and his words seem to be as soft and as gentle as they have ever been. The way Laurent whispers 'I love you' is enough to make his heart melt. One month may not seem long enough for most people but Larry believes with his heart and soul that this behavior will continue. It's a different feeling he has in his heart this time that makes him so optimistic. Larry is truly over the moon happy and laying there gazing at his love while reflecting over everything he has come to realize that he's no longer the Larry that was filled with the despair he felt all those months. With one more soft look at his love before drifting off into his own slumber he can officially breathe a sigh of relief knowing that he's no longer wounded, he's no longer broken, he is no longer...sleeping with the enemy...

A/N: My amazing followers. 'Sleeping with the Enemy' has finally concluded. I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for reading, voting and commenting. I can't tell you how awesome it was to read the comments that expressed how this story caused many of you to experience so many different emotions and how much you have enjoyed it. I recently went back to the first chapter and realized that it's been three months since I started this journey and it's definitely been a huge part of my life since then. I have taken care to put so much thought into each update to ensure that I give you the very best of me while bringing awareness to such a powerful issue and I pray that I have done just that. Now over the last few weeks, I have gone back and edited content in several chapters and there has also been a chapter title change or two so when you're able to, and if you want to, you all can go back and read this entire story again lol!
