It had now been a full month since Eira killed Klaus's hybrids. She was better now, she was okay and she was somewhat changed. She was more independent than ever and she had a new sense of purpose: family above all.

Damon had been gone for a week. He went to the Gilbert family lake house to train Jeremy to get his hunter's mark. Stefan stayed with Eira, but he really just wanted to spend time with Rebekah.

Stefan was with Rebekah in his room. They were happy and they were holding hands as they sat next to each other on his bed. But, Rebekah sighed,"I'd stay here with you all day, but I called my brother, Kol. He's going to help me get one step closer to the cure."

Stefan sighed as well,"Fine. Go to your brother."

Stefan kissed her a goodbye. Once Stefan stopped kissing her, she took a deep breath, getting her bearings before she vamp sped away from him, leaving him with a frown.

Damon was training Jeremy to become a hunter. Jeremy was putting bullets into the gun chamber, but he was slow about it and Damon told him to repeat it. Then Damon asked Jeremy if he heard from Elena when Klaus walked through the back yard.

"I'm sorry, am I interrupting play time?" Klaus smirked, walking through the back yard.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jeremy asked.

"I'm simply appreciating the sights and smells of Nature, neither of which presently include rotting vampire flesh, so I'm a bit concerned. How many vampires has he killed?" Klaus questioned, being immediately reminded of Eira once he said the word 'Nature'.

Klaus missed her dearly, but he had come to accept that she did not want him anymore nor did she love him. Even though it hurt, he accepted the fact that he would never be with her again. Since he was very much heartbroken, he put all his attention to finding the cure.

"If we throw Jeremy out into the real world right now, he's chum," Damon replied, being vague.

"Yeah, see, that's not a number. Twelve. That's a number. That's how many of my hybrids that Eira killed. Three. That's how many days it took to quell the urge to kill Tyler after he used her in a scheme to get rid of me. One. That's the number of purposes you serve," Klaus said, threateningly walking towards Damon. "You are here to grow Jeremy's mark, so I'll ask again...How many vampires has he killed since he's been here?"

"Zero," Damon glared.

"That's a pity. I'm going to need that cure sooner rather than later. Hybrid shortage and all. How can I help?" Klaus smirked.

"You know, now that you mention it," Damon picked up the gun off the picnic table, putting bullets into the gun chamber, then putting the gun chamber back into the gun. "Jeremy, watch and learn."

Damon quickly fired two bullets at Klaus, hitting him in the chest. Klaus groaned and glared at Damon. Klaus held himself up by leaning against a tree, being in pain.

"That's for my sister getting caught up in your sired hybrid failure," Damon stated.

Rebekah went to Whitmore College where Kol was waiting for her with what she asked for: Shane. She wanted to get closer to the cure and getting Shane was the way to go.

Kol had Shane locked up in a custodial closet. Rebekah and Kol walked in and Shane looked at both of them in awe, "Kol and Rebekah Mikaelson...two members of the Original vampire family. This is such a trip."

"Where's the cure?" Rebekah compelled Shane.

"Compulsion won't work. It's a little trick I picked up in Tibet," Shane explained.

"Right. Well, we'll just have to do this the old-fashioned way," Rebekah said and Kol smiled. Rebekah looked at Kol, "Beat him until he tells you where to find it."

It was nighttime and Damon was sitting on a log, carving wooden bullets. Klaus walked up from behind him and Damon spoke, "If you're here for payback, go for it, 'cause you'll be stuck baby-sitting the little hunter that could."

Klaus sat down on the log next to Damon and he suggested to Damon,"You know, if you adjust your angle a little bit, you'll find a sharper edge."

Damon looked at Klaus,"I know how to whittle, thanks. Now I know why those hybrids hated you. You are annoying."

"Actually, I'm just perplexed as to why Jeremy hasn't killed any vampires," Klaus replied.

"Darwinism, Klaus. He needs to be able to protect himself before we hunt down his first vampire nest," Damon explained.

"And here was I, thinking you were the fun brother! Let's play a little game, shall we? Jeremy needs more victims, and there's a whole town of people down the road, just waiting to be turned into vampires for the slaughter," Klaus suggested.

"You don't think that occurred to me, Klaus?" Damon questioned.

"Tragedy is, Damon, it did occur to you, and yet you chose to ignore it. My guess is you did it to impress Elena. Somehow, to honor her, you will find a way to spare innocent lives and walk Jeremy down the moral high road," Klaus said.

"You're one to talk about the moral high road," Damon started. "You didn't kill Tyler Lockwood after he planned to get rid of you. I would say you did it for Eira, so she didn't have anymore deaths to deal with."

Klaus gave a fake smile, not liking revealing his weaknesses for the one girl that plagued his mind,"Well, I'm not walking down any moral high road today. That's why I've already made the necessary corrections."

Damon looked at Klaus,"What did you do?"

Klaus had killed all the people in a bar up the road and turned them into vampires. They were just waiting to be slaughtered by Jeremy. But Jeremy didn't want to kill innocent people, so Klaus sent each vampire after Matt to force Jeremy to hunt the vampires.

Kol tortured Shane, dunking his head in water until Shane told them where the cure was. Bonnie was doing a spell that protected Shane from whatever torture he endured but she accidentally linked a student to Shane.

"You're human, why do you want the cure, anyway?" Rebekah questioned.

"That's the beauty of this. You can have it. I just want Silas," Shane revealed.

"No. What do you know about Silas?" Kol questioned, holding Shane up by his shirt.

"He's the world's first immortal being, who just happens to be imprisoned with the cure...and I want to free him," Shane explained.

"No!" Kol shouted and dunked Shane's head back under the water, drowning him.

"Stop!" Rebekah demanded and Kol let go of Shane.

"He's of no use dead," Rebekah said.

"Did you not just hear what he said? Silas will kill us all, sister," Kol stated.

"Silas does not exist. He is a-a fairytale made up to scare children into eating their vegetables," Rebekah said.

"Silas is very real. I know where he's buried, and soon I will have the spell that wakes him," Shane believed.

"Wait a second, you're lying. You can't get to him," Kol stated.

"Without his tombstone? Dozens to die in a blood sacrifice? Believe me, I know. I've done it. Those massacres are a pain to engineer," Shane revealed.

"You're the one who got the council blown up," Rebekah realized. "You're also the reason Eira had to kill all those hybrids."

"I was betting on your brother to kill them. But his girlfriend killing them worked, too," Shane said. "It was a noble sacrifice...and temporary, because once I raise Silas, Silas will raise the dead. He will bring back every last soul who died on his behalf."

Kol grabbed a metal pipe and stabbed it into Shane's stomach,"No!"

Shane fell to the ground, temporarily dead. Bonnie cast a spell and he would come back to life.

"What the bloody hell, Kol? Why would you do that?" Rebekah questioned.

"You should be thanking me," Kol stated.

"You killed my only chance at finding the cure," Rebekah said.

"Silas on the loose would be hell on Earth. Frankly, sister, I don't think you could handle it," Kol said and pulled out the white oak stake.

"How did you get that?" Rebekah asked.

"It was way too easy to find. You should pick better hiding places," Kol smirked and walked out of the room with an angry Rebekah following.

Shane had pulled the metal pipe out of his stomach and he had lived. Bonnie had done the spell to save him, but a student at Whitmore was dying. She called Caroline, who vamp sped over and saved the student with vampire blood.

Rebekah went to the Salvatore boarding house to tell him the news about Shane dying. She opened the door, not even bothering to knock.

"Please, let yourself in," Stefan smiled in amusement.

"Oh, please," Rebekah waved her hand out, shooing the gesture of knocking away.

Rebekah sighed and frowned, "My idiotic brother killed Shane. We have no way to find the cure."

"Bonnie did a little spell. He's perfectly fine," Stefan started. "You still want that cure?"

"You know I want it more than anything," Rebekah said. "You didn't have to tell me that Shane's alive."

Stefan grabbed Rebekah's hand, squeezing it and he smiled, "We're a team."

"Well, if we're getting that cure, you should know that Shane has an agenda, and it's a dark one. He said he organized dozens of people to die in sacrifice, he admitted to the council explosion where twelve people died, and I'm guessing it's not a coincidence that twelve hybrids died at the hand of your sister," Rebekah revealed to Stefan.

Eira had walked down the stairs and had heard every bit of what Rebekah said. That Shane was responsible for plotting twelve hybrid deaths. If there was anyone she hated in the world, she hated Shane.

Eira stepped into the room, making Rebekah and Stefan look at her. Rebekah immediately felt bad that she had to hear that.

Stefan was going to speak, but Eira spoke with conviction in her voice,"We're going to find the cure. Us three. We're partners now. And when we do, Shane is dead."

Author's Note: Wow, that ending was so unplanned. I'm just writing this stuff as I go along, except for a few things.

That whole stupid school thing with Rebekah and the rest of the gang didn't happen. Like that was so dramatic and so unnecessary.

I know Eira wasn't really involved in this chapter but trust me, she's about to get a huge freaking role.
