11 -1x17

Before Damon explained anything, Stefan turned to Eira because he remembered she cut her hand pulling the glass shard. "Let me see your hand."

Eira held her palm out that had a deep cut with blood oozing out of it. Stefan looked like he was struggling and Damon pushed him away."Why don't you just stay back. I'll handle it," Damon told Stefan.

"I wouldn't hurt her. I promised," Stefan told him.

"Well, right now your injured and hungry. And you killed her before," Damon snapped.

Stefan just hung his head and stayed back. Damon took her hand and inspected it. "It should be fine."

"What's so special about my blood? The vampires reacted to it," Eira asked.

Damon sighed,"Your hair color wasn't the only thing that changed about you. Your blood doesn't smell like any other human. It's... well, to put simply, you'll always be a target to vampires."

Eira gulped in that information. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well, there was no threat to you until now," Damon explained. "All of the tomb vampires are out."

Damon avoided looking at them as he dropped that information on them. They were both glaring at Damon, but then stopped and just shook their heads at him.

"Come on," Damon said to Eira. "We need to bandage that and disinfect it."

Eira followed him and they wiped all of the blood off her hand and then he poured disinfectant on it. Then he wrapped the bandage around her hand.

"Go upstairs, Eira. Go to sleep. Stefan and I will take care of everything," Damon compelled her to do so.

Eira was hurt that he would try to compel her. "Why would you do that?"

Damon was more than surprised she was resisting his compulsion. "Did Stefan give you vervain?"

"No," Eira answered.

"Then how are you...," Damon was at a loss for words. "So, now you can resist compulsion. What else can you do?"

"I don't know," Eira replied, flustered. She was surprised with herself, as well.

"But, I'll do what you want. I'll go upstairs and stay out of it," Eira said and left him to think about what else could possibly be different about his little sister.

Eira changed into sleep wear and she crawled into bed. There was no point in worrying to death about what happened with the vampires. She could worry about it tomorrow and all the changes that have happened to her would remain a mystery, so there was no point of thinking about that either. She thought it was cool, anyway, that she could resist compulsion.

_________

Eira had woken up in the middle of the night many times due to the storm that was happening. The flash of lightning and thunder had always woken her up before. She always had a fascination with storms.

She loved the way the sky became dark and cloudy, almost moody, like it was determined to ruin the day. Then the different droplets of rain would start to pour down, making everything wet and yet giving life to all of Nature. The lightening would flash through the dark sky, illuminating everything in its path. Thunder would follow creating a loud boom that seemed like it could shake the ground.

And yet, after all the storm's dreariness, there would be a beautiful rainbow that painted the sky. Eira thought that storms symbolized life because life could be dreary, but then there were the beautiful moments like a rainbow that made life feel like everything was perfect and completely alright.

Morning had come soon enough and she took a shower and got dressed in jeans and a plain green t-shirt. She went downstairs where Damon and Stefan were located.

They both explained that Pearl, Anna's mother, was in charge of the vampires and they were living in this house in the middle of nowhere. Damon had made a deal with Pearl, as well. Damon had started putting wooden boards up over the broken window when Elena showed up. Stefan had explained everything to her, already.

"I say we go to Pearl's, bust down the door, and annihilate the idiot that attacked us last night," Damon planned as he finished putting up the wooden boards.

"Yeah. And then what? We turn to the rest of that house of vampires and say, 'Oops. Sorry?'" Stefan questioned.

"I can't believe you made a deal with her," Elena stated.

"It was more like a helpful exchange of information," Damon explained. "It's not like I had a choice, she's.... scary. Besides, she's gonna help me get Katherine back."

"Of course she is. Damon gets what he wants, as usual. No matter who he hurts in the process," Elena replied with an attitude.

Eira thought Elena was being somewhat of a hypocrite. Damon was doing whatever he had to do for Katherine just as Elena would do for Stefan. Eira didn't like it.

"You don't have to be snarky about it," Damon said which she agreed with.

Damon and Elena continued to argue which Eira zoned out of. Eira just left the room and went to the kitchen and made Eggo waffles because she loved them.

After she ate, she went to the living room and laid down on the couch. She picked up where she left off on Gone with the Wind. Damon was doing repairs on the clock and he looked at her,"You know you could help."

"If only you could compel me," Eira teased as she flipped to the next page.

Stefan walked into the room heading towards the front door. "Hunting party?" Damon asked.

"That guy did a number on me last night when he stabbed me. I gotta get my strength back up," Stefan replied.

"I've got two liters of soccer mom in the fridge," Damon offered but Stefan gave him a look. "No?"

"We'll talk when I get back?" Stefan asked and started walking to the door.

"Alright. Give my regards to the squirrels," Damon said which made her chuckle.

Eira got bored being inside for so long so she went outside to the back porch and sat on the wooden rocking swing as it rained. She read her book for awhile but then she stopped and just watched as the rain poured down.

She noticed a figure standing at the edge of the property with a hood on to block the rain. They had started walking towards the house and Eira thought it was Stefan. She got up to go greet him as the figure kept walking towards her.

Eira waited at the edge of the small steps of stairs that led to the backyard. The figure had gotten closer to her and she started to get a bad feeling.

"Stefan?" she called out.

The figure looked up and she was able to see his face now. It was the tomb vampire that attacked them last night. Eira's eyes widened and she went to run but he was already in front her before she could take a step.

"Not Stefan," he told her and then he knocked her out, making her world go black.

Author's Note: Okay, I lied sort of. The next chapter will be the big one. And I'll post that today as well. I just liked this cliffhanger so I didn't want to add any more to this chapter.
