Brier Rose and Jennette, now that they knew each other, would meet in the woods daily, over the course of a couple of years, well they fell in love with each other.

Brier Rose came home from her daily meet up with Jennette and it was the day before her sixteenth birthday, so her 'aunts' decided to tell her about the curse that was placed onto her as a baby, as you do when they're just on the verge of turning 16.

"Brier Rose"
"Yes Auntie Betty"
"We neglected to tell you about something and you may not like it but you are the princess of this kingdom"
"You're joking, right?"
"I wish that we were joking my dear"
"But you told me that my parents were dead!"
"Yes we did-"
"Why would you ever lie to me about something so big Auntie Betty?!, why?!"

You could see that Briar Rose's world started to fall apart, your world would fall apart too if you were just told that somebody you thought was dead for as long as you remembered turned out to be very much alive.

"We told you that they were dead so that you would never look for them"
"So lying to me was the best option?"
"It was only option-"
"Well if I'm the so called princess then why do I live by the fucking woods?!"
"Because a curse was placed on you by a very powerful Sorceress who wasn't invited to celebrate your birth"
"What is the curse that was placed upon me then Mary-weather?"
"At sunset on your sixteenth birthday, your finger will be pricked on a spinning wheel and that will cause you to sleep until you receive a true loves kiss"

Poor Briar Rose was shocked that someone put a curse on her of all people, but she was more shocked that she wasn't told about the curse, she was the most shocked about the fact that the people who raised her had lied to her about pretty much everything she ever knew about her life, (or she thought she knew about her life).

"You're not my aunts then, are you?"
"No dear, we're not your aunts, we are your fairy godmothers"
"Is Brier Rose even my real name?"
"No dear, your real name is Aurora, tomorrow you will return to the Palace to see your parents once more"
"What if I refuse to go back to the palace Betty?"
"That's not an option now Aurora, now please stop being so ridiculous-"
"But why should I go back to the palace?"
"Because your Mother and Father love you so much Aurora-"
"Don't call me Aurora!, if they did love me so much then why did they send me away Betty?!"
"To protect you Aurora"

Briar Rose felt her blood slowly start to boil, as she felt as though nobody was actually listening to her about how she felt about the situation or the fact that she doesn't want to be called Aurora, it made Briar Rose want to scream at the top of her lungs and never stop, but that wouldn't help with anything.

"I said don't call me Aurora!, anyway I'm not going to the palace, my Mother and Father can just pretend that I don't even exist, since they're good at that because that's exactly what they've been doing for the last nearly sixteen years of my life"
"That's not true Aurora-"
"Isn't it, how do you know that then Mary-weather?"
"Because they are good people my dear"

Briar Rose kind of doubted that her parents were actually good people, since good people don't send their children off to the woods with 3 random women almost at birth, even with a curse that was placed on their child.

"But are they even good people though?, because I'm pretty sure that not inviting someone as powerful as the Sorceress who cursed me at birth is not the proper etiquette"
"She's evil"
"Says who?"
"Your Mother and Father"
"Of course they would say that-"
"That's not fair on your parents-"
"Who cursed me then Betty?"
"Maleficent did, the evil bitch-"
"Other than heresy that you heard from somebody else, how do you know she's evil?"
"I, uh-"
"Oh so you actually don't know that for a fact then, ok, so do you know where she lives?"
"Why do you want to know that Aurora?"
"My name is Briar Rose, not Aurora, now I don't want to have to correct you again Betty, the reason why I want to know is so that I could maybe ask her to undo the spell?"
"She lives in the woods, where it's darkest, as it fits her personality-"
"Because that's so helpful, well I going to find Maleficent, as I'm not relying on some prince to come and save me"
