Briar Rose was confused about why Jennette was holding a staff in her hand, because she never mentioned that at all before.

"Jennette, I know this seems like a strange question to ask you but do you know where Maleficent is?"
"You have found her"
"But there's only you and I here"
"Exactly, I am Maleficent"
"So is Maleficent your real name?"
"No, it's the name that I had to use to hide from your parents after my Mum died"
"Oh I'm so sorry-"
"No no, don't be sorry, you didn't know"
"So Jennette, did you know that I was the Princess all along?"

Jenette lowered her staff and sat down on the woodland floor, she then invited Brier Rose to do the same through body language, then Jenette's hardened exterior broke away and a sadness rushed in.

"No, I didn't know that you were the Princess when I first met you Briar"
"Oh, so what made you realise that I was the Princess?"
"Well I should start with why I didn't realise straight away when we first met each other, (sighs), I didn't realise at first because you are so different to your parents, you're kind, compassionate and selfless, your parents on the other hand are hateful, destructive and selfish, I mean, they sent you away so that they could breath a little easier, I wanted to hurt them like they hurt me, but now I realised that I have only hurt you and for that I am so sorry, and I know what you're going to ask me, and the answer is that I can't lift the curse, because I have tried to lift it when I met you and realised that you are the person I love, you can hate me if you want to, I know I deserve that much"

Brier Rose wanted to be angry at Jenette, she wanted to be spiteful to Jenette, she wanted to be hateful towards Jenette, but she couldn't find it in herself to do so, because she knew that Jenette was telling her the truth about how sorry she was through her eyes.

"I can't hate you Jenette, besides, I now know how to break it once the curse actually goes through, because we both love each other, so you can still break the curse, it just won't be the way you originally wanted to break the curse"
"Has anybody told you that you are incredible?"
"Not really, so it's nice to hear it for once"
"Brier, what did I do to deserve you?"
"I mean, first of all most sorcerers would've placed an actual death curse on me-"
"I actually almost did place a death curse on you, but then I saw your big blue eyes looking at me, and they just looked at me with so much trust, so I couldn't go through with it, so I changed it last minute to true loves first kiss"
"See, you didn't actually kill a baby, so that's a start, plus you did try to lift the curse once you realised that I wasn't like my parents"
"It still doesn't excuse what I did to you-"
"Sure it doesn't excuse what you did Jenette but meh, it's a great 'get out of ruling a kingdom I don't particularly like clause', plus marrying a man sounds like my idea of an actual living hell"

Jenette holds Briars hand a little tighter, as though she was having a version of flashbacks, but I guess that she was, (I'm not entirely sure though as you can't read people's minds, you know).

"It's as much of a living hell as it sounds my dear Briar Rose"
"How do you know Jenette?"
"I've been married to a man before"
"How was he?"
"Well to be honest with you here, I spent 50 years of my life married to an arse that didn't know how to keep his hands to himself"
"That sounds gross and creepy"
"It was gross and creepy, but the silver lining was that I got all his money after he died"
"(Snorts), well at least you got that coin"
"(Laughs), yeah I got that coin, but I would give it all away in a hot minute if it meant that I got to be with you for the rest of my life"
"Well you got me for the rest of our lives, anyway I have to go now, because I have to go to the castle to spend time with the folks before I go for a long nap, but I'll see you soon I guess"
"I'll see you soon"

Briar Rose walked away, Jenette felt doubt slowly consume her, it wasn't doubt about if she loved Briar Rose, it was doubt about if it would even work if she kissed Briar Rose, as she set the curse and she was a girl.
