[ eins ]

[ eins ] -- [ one ]

My eyes opened in the middle of the night, and I was instantly aware that I could move nothing else.

I was laid on my back, giving me a clear view of the entire room, as my bed was pushed against one corner of the room and diagonally, on the opposite corner was the door.

The beginning of my freshman year of college had begun this morning, and already I was having the nightmares. As frightening thoughts raced across my mind, I scolded myself for thinking living in the dorms would save me from the monster.

I should have known better.

But even so, I found myself still hoping he wouldn't haunt me tonight.

My eyes darted to the other corner of the room, where the door was, and I saw him standing there, the evil smirk was always the only thing visible on his face.

And sometimes the blue eyes of the demon shone through the darkness.

"You thought I'd leave your nightmares if you moved somewhere else?" He asked, never tilting his head up as he licked his bottom lip. His dark smile causing a shiver to travel down my spine. I wanted so badly to move, or to close my eyes and wish him away. But I couldn't stop watching, as terrified as I was. "That's cute." He added, taking one step, then another towards me.

"St. Michael archangel, defend us in battle. Be my protection against the malice and snares of the devil." I prayed in my mind, but in my fear, the words were rushed.

He laughed at me, leaning his head closer mockingly. "What did you say?" He taunted. "I don't understand who you're calling. You're praying too fast, babe."

Finally cutting the distance between us, he set both hands on my shoulders, pushing me further into the matress. I could feel a large amount of pressure on my chest that was cutting my ability to breathe. I tilted my head back, gasping for air like a fish out of water, my eyes wide in shock.

Seeming to be enjoying my suffering, he leaned in close, whispering into my ear, "One day, I'm gonna take you with me."

As the oxygen became scarce, my lungs began to burn. I shut my eyes tight and repeated to myself in my mind. "He's not real, he's not real. He's just a nightmare. I'm going to wake up and he'll be gone because he isn't real."

"Not real?" He smirked. "Maybe I'll prove to you one day that this isn't just a bad dream, Ethel. I'm really coming for you one day, and you won'e be able to escape."

And with that, he disappeared.

so i had this really long first chapter, but then i deleted it before even posting cause i hated it and i opted to go with short chapters because i decided to make it a ten part story or less now. and i also think i should apologize for taking so long to update. you all know i was distracted with the world cup and whatnot and now soccer season has started in the mexican league and i watch my favorite teams cause i gotta support the baes. and i also watch mls cause cubo torres is the bae and i just love soccer. so i watch it like non stop.

literally when there is no soccer on tv, i watch games i recorded on my dvr, and i act like i've never watched them before even though i know the final scores. lol.

anyway, back to talking about the story...i'm not the biggest fan of happy endings when it comes to writing paranormal stories.

and this won't be the exception.

because i just don't see how something so creepy like this could ever have a romantic ending. so yeah, i hope you enjoy the story.

and thank you so much for the support.

it means a lot.

i love you all with every bit of my heart.

ps. the chapters will be numbered in german cause its an tribute to the german team who took home the world cup. and quite frankly because it just looks cool, okay?

pps. can we all just appreciate and congratulate james rodriguez? he just got signed by real madrid and i am so happy for him. he definitely deserves it after being the top scorer at the cup. muller from germany was so close to tying him on the record, but he couldn't and james got the golden boot trophy. so glad for my cafterito bae.
