Chapter Four
The next morning, I awaken on the last step on a humongous flight of stairs.
"Shit!" I mumble to myself only to realize that I must have fallen asleep without even making it to my room.
"Rough Night?"
Lia stands over me wearing the same clothing she was wearing yesterday. I nod briefly only to get a rush of pain to my head.
"Remember now, you are hurt, stop doing things that will put you in more pain." Lia demands in a motherly tone, only to remind me, I never had a mother.
"Who's going to make me?" I smirk as I raise my hand to my head only to tease her.
She swiftly grasps my forearm and then pins it along the railing on the side of the stairs.
"I will."
I scowl, trying to ignore the tingles her hand gave me. All she does in return is smirks.
I slip away from her hold and stand up walking over towards my room.
"Where you going Matchester?"
"To bed, I barely got any sleep. Only got to dream a bit tonight."
"Were the dreams about me?" Lia grins, amusement flashing in her eyes.
"No. Bloody Hell, why would you think that." My scowl from earlier on deepens. That is when it clicks. I smirk, "The only dreams I get from you are nightmares."
Lia's smile turns into a frown and then replaced into a scowl. "Hey! It is not my fault I was supposed to get you. Your fa-" Lia abruptly stops and does not make eye contact.
"Who made you come get me?"
"No one. I was mistaking you for one of my- um- friends." Lips tight, she plasters on a smile. I do not believe her, but I just nod.
I swiftly move past her and start sprinting towards the dining hall. I hear the pitter patter of her combat boots down the hall. I had behind the humongous door that is lined with gold.
"Aaron! HELP!! HELP ME!!!" I hear Lia say scared.
I come out from behind the door and ram into her back. She turns around and smirks at me.
"You fell for that?!" Lia says grinning now. "You were dumb enough to believe me!"
I scowl. "You're the boy who cried wolf. Wait till you need help for reals. I will not be there."
"Whatever." She walks past me brushing our shoulders on purpose.
I turn around and follow her walking down several hallways in silence.
I take the chance to admire her even more from the back. Lia looks lean and thin, but through her leather jacket, I can see it slightly hugging her small muscles. Veins run up her forearms. Every step she takes, through her jeans, I can see several muscles flex. Woah! Lia is more muscular than I am!
"Are you done staring?"
I realize that I had been staring at her for a while now because we are stopped and she is turned around facing me.
I feel a blush creep up my neck. "S- sorry."
"It's fine. Now hurry, we have some training to do."
