Years Gone By (Vilkas X Nord!Reader) Part 3
Seventeen years later
"Here. Let me help you, Ember." I say to my youngest daughter as she struggles with her archery. Normally, Aela would help her, but she is out on a mission. "It's all about the stance. Eli wasn't good at it for years until he finally got the hang of it. You know what he did all those years? He practiced because practice makes perfect." She releases the arrow, hitting it in bullseye. "See, Ember, all you have to do is work on your stance."
"Mom, can I ask you something?" Ember asked.
"Anything."
"How did you meet dad?"
"Well, after my destiny to destroy Alduin, I decided to join the Companions for a change. Your father and I weren't on good terms when I interrupted Kodlak Whitemane and his conversation. Kodlak saw a great warrior in me that I thought wasn't there even after my destiny. The old man wanted your father to test my arm in battle. We came out here and dueled."
"Did you beat him?" Ember inquired. Then I heard an all too familiar voice that I love so much say, "She did and it was the most embarrassing moment of my life." Vilkas walks up behind me and kisses my cheek.
"Over time, I started to warm up to your mother. Then when Kodlak died, it was like a sword was stabbed through our hearts. He made your mother here Harbinger. About three years after she became Harbinger, she asked me to marry her." Vilkas spoke.
"You asked Dad to marry you, Mom?"
"I did indeed. Best thing that I've ever did." I said, looking to the side at Vilkas. "Before we got married, I had your brother and sister."
"Sister." Farkas said from behind his brother and I. We turn around seeing Farkas and the newest member of the Circle, Cydney, with their hands interlocked together. The pair has been together about a year or so.
"Farkas, Cyd, what's happening?" I ask.
"(Y/N), Vilkas, Farkas and I are getting married!" Cydney exclaimed.
"By the Eight! Congratulations! I'm proud of you two." I say, pulling them both into a hug.
"Thank you, sister. We appreciate it." Farkas said.
That night
I slip into a nightgown while Vilkas was reading a book on the bed. Whenever this man isn't working, I swear he's reading, doing something with the kids and I, or with his brother. I lay on the left side of him.
"I swear when you're not working, you're reading a book." I say, getting his attention.
"I can't help that I love to read, dear."
"I know, I know, but I think it's time to go to bed. We both have missions that need to be completed."
"No, we don't. You just want to cuddle with me."
"Well then." Vilkas lays down, wrapping one of his strong arms of his around my small waist. Our legs were entangled like always. I've missed these nights where I just rest my head on his torso with his arm around my waist, but since the kids and work, there isn't really time until we got a day off.
"(Y/N)." My lover spoke, breaking the romantic silence.
"Yes, my love."
"You know since the kids, I've had a new start. I never want to change a thing. I love you so much."
"After all this time?"
"Always."
