************

"Ugh! Damnit! Why can't I cast this stupid spell? I've been at it forever, but I still can't get it right." I say to myself. As if right on cue, Marcurio, my best friend and companion for my journeys, came up by my side.

"How's my favorite Mage doing?" Marcurio said in a voice that he knows annoys me, but I'm already annoyed enough.

"To be honest, Marcurio, not too good. I've been at trying to cast a Shock Rune all day, but I can't seem to get it right. Shock spells are difficult. I don't see how you cast them." I say while crossing my arms and facing him.

"They aren't that hard. If you think you can do it, you can do it. Vice versa." said Marcurio. He presses him body up against mine and grabs my casting arm. It sends shocks through my veins like I can feel it inside me. He pulls it back. "Now, cast onto the ground." I push it towards the ground and it works. Wait.... IT WORKED!!

"By the All-Maker, I DID IT! Marcurio, I did it!" I yell, then I place my hands over my mouth, realizing that my kids, Sofie and Samuel, are asleep inside my house in the Pale.

"Be quiet, (Y/N). You'll wake your kids." We laugh quietly, then go sit on a rock. I sigh, wanting his warmth back against me. It was comforting and loving. I haven't learned just one thing, but two. How to cast a Shock Rune and that I fell in love with my best friend.

Marcurio's POV

I feel (Y/N) shiver from being out in the cold all day long. I wrap a strong arm around her to pull her close to me to keep her warm. (Y/N) rests her head on my shoulder.

After a while of staring at the rising sun and wilderness, (Y/N) lays her head down in my lap. It was a beautiful sight to see when I looked down at her.

"You know," I start to say. "It looks beautiful out here."

"Yeah. I could say the same." She said.

"I'm not talking about the sunrise. I'm talking about you, silly." I lean down and press my lips to hers, savoring the taste of her lips.

"Ew!" Two child voices yelled. (Y/N) and I broke apart from each other to see Sofie and Samuel behind us.

Your POV

By the All-Maker! I forgot that Sofie and Samuel come outside every day to see the wilderness. My face becomes red.

"Uh... Hey kiddos. Up earlier than usual, aren't you?"

"Mama, why were you and Mr. Marcurio kissing?" Sofie asked curiously.

"You'll know later, kiddo. For now, go do your chores. You too, Samuel."

"Yes, Ma." They both say before going inside the house. Once they are inside the house where they couldn't hear what Marcurio and I talking, I put my face on his chest. Silence passes by with the birds chirping.

"Well, that was embarrassing, don't you think?" Marcurio said laughing.

"Yeah, but guess what." I say removing my head from his chest and smiling.

"What?"

"It was worth it."
