When Jungkook first awakens, his heart clutches in terror at the unfamiliar surroundings before realizing that he's in Seokjin's apartment. He peers over the side of the bed to see Seokjin blinking groggily.
"Good morning, Jungkookie."
"Morning," Jungkook replies, ignoring how his stomach does a little flip at Seokjin's raspy half-asleep voice. His brow furrows as a thought occurs to him, and he asks, "Were you sleeping on the floor?"
"Yeah."
"You shouldn't have," Jungkook says, frown deepening. "You should have slept on your own bed."
"It's fine," Seokjin assures, waving Jungkook off. "Don't worry about it."
"But—"
Seokjin reaches up and playfully pinches Jungkook's arm. "It's fine."
After the two freshen up and head to the kitchen, Jungkook leans against the kitchen counter as Seokjin prepares a quick breakfast for the two. He watches Seokjin's eyes for a while, noticing how they keep a careful watch on the food, before his gaze flits down along the bridge of Seokjin's nose.
He has a pretty nose.
Jungkook's eyes drop down to Seokjin's lips, and he's entranced by how full and pink they are for several long moments before he catches himself and averts his eyes, now focusing on how Seokjin's tee shirt loosely hangs on his shoulders, exposing part of his collarbone. The teenager's teeth dig into his tongue as his eyes dance over Seokjin's collarbones, staring at a drop of water that the male hadn't caught while drying his face off after washing it. Jungkook blinks slowly, wondering how anyone could have such lovely collarbones—
"Do you usually drink milk in the morning?"
"Uh..." It takes a moment for Jungkook to process the question. "No, but I guess I'll have some if you are."
"Good." Seokjin nods. "It's healthy."
"I feel like you and my mom would be best friends."
Seokjin lets out a snort of laughter. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing, I'm just saying."
"Anyway," Seokjin says, sliding a couple of omelets onto separate plates, "the carnival's in town. Were you planning on going?"
"Maybe," Jungkook answers, taking a plate. "Thanks."
"Yeah, no problem." They sit down at a small table and begin to eat. "We should go together," Seokjin suggests. "It'll be fun."
"Okay."
。。。
"Who was that girl we saw at the carousel again?"
"Jihyun? Or Seojun?"
Seokjin blinks. "Jihyun is the girl with the purple hair, right?"
"Yeah."
"So the other one."
"That's Seojun noona," Jungkook replies.
Seokjin doesn't answer for a moment. "She's pretty."
"Yeah, I guess so," the teenager agrees. "I really like her hair."
"Her hair?" Seokjin raises an eyebrow.
"Yeah, it—" Jungkook's cheeks flush a light pink. "It smells like vanilla."
Silence.
"Can you believe it's already almost Halloween?" Seokjin looks a little uncomfortable.
"No," Jungkook agrees, deciding not to ask about the abrupt change of topic. "I could've sworn it was just the first day of college last week."
"Time flies," Seokjin shrugs, linking his arm with Jungkook's. "Jeez, it's so cold."
Jungkook snorts. "Well, yeah, it's past 11:00." He glances up at the faint outline of the moon, obstructed by wisps of clouds. "I don't want to go back home, though. I like spending time with you."
"Aren't you sweet," Seokjin chortles. "Well, Jungkookie, I like spending time with you, too."
Jungkook grins, taking a sip of his iced tea, which is now diluted since most of the ice cubes have melted. As the liquid goes down his throat, he complains, "Agh, my throat is so sore."
"It's not my fault you screamed like you were being attacked by a dinosaur on that roller coaster."
"It was scary!" Jungkook cries out defensively. "And you screamed, too!"
"Not as much as you," the elder retorts with a laugh. "You're such a baby."
"I am nineteen—"
"You're still a baby to me." Seokjin plants a gentle kiss on Jungkook's forehead. "You're cute."
Flustered, Jungkook exclaims, "I didn't even do anything for you to call me cute!"
"You're always cute."
Jungkook scoffs at the elder's comment. "You're so cheesy."
"I take pride in my cheesiness, thank you very much."
The pair continues their playful bickering as they walk around through the large shadows cast by the half-cleaned up tents and booths of the nearby carnival. Upon passing by a girl clothed in a Big Bang sweater, Jungkook gasps and excitedly tells Seokjin about the Big Bang concert in Seoul in a three months.
"I really hope I can go," Jungkook says. "It's really, really expensive, but— Big Bang, you know? I've been saving up money."
"Do you think you'll have enough by the time tickets go on sale?"
Jungkook hesitates. "Maybe? I'm not too sure."
"Are you going by yourself?"
This question takes Jungkook off guard. "Oh," he says. "I didn't even think about that... Maybe I'll ask Tae."
Seokjin smiles. "Have fun."
Jeon Jungkook, you fucking idiot.
"Or," the boy says hastily, "you could come with me."
"Me?" Seokjin's smile seems to lift up a little.
Jungkook nods. "Yeah."
"Okay." Seokjin links their arms together a little tighter. "Sounds fun."
