Ch 17 An odd encounter

(Spyro's point of view)
The Dread Yacht landed and the team made their way to the core with the light source in hand. "The eternal light source! The eye within the eye!" Eon exclaimed. The source levitated out of Flameslinger's hands and the crystal eye absorbed it. The sound of sparks followed as the crystal eye faced upwards and a brilliant beam of light shot out from the core.

After the impressive light display, Spyro felt the ground beneath him shaking a bit. All of a sudden, a strange faced creature rose from the ground, with a little patch of flowers atop it's head. "Ah... The air feels crisp and clean. The water? Delicious! The soil? Just right. And I can feel the warm sunlight coursing through my leaves," he did aloud to himself. "Um, excuse me, who are you?" Asked Stealth elf. The friendly creature turned to face her. "My name is Arbo, I'm the son of Larbo and brother of Barbo!" He exclaimed. "You mean the great forest spirits!?" Exclaimed Flameslinger, he and Stealth elf became wide eyed with his presence. *Any thing to do with the forest, no surprise that Flameslinger and Stealth elf will take interest,* Spyro thought to himself. "I may have been born only a second ago, but I know exactly why I'm here!" Arbo explained, "Nature itself has sent me to help you all find the eternal life source!" "Is it true?" Hugo asked, "that's the next source we'll need for the great machine!"

"In order to find the life source, we must first find the seeds of life!" He explained, "they can be found in the bog of beginning!" "The bog of beginning?" Spyro asked. "Oh! My apologies, you all know it as the Bog of Glorp," he explained.

The group headed to the Dread Yacht and hopped aboard, Arbo climbed up to the front of the ship and held his arms out to lead Flynn to the bog. When they got there, it smelled worse than "ten Bog hogs mud wrestling in a puddle of sardines." At least that's how Flynn described it.

As the group headed deeper into the marsh, Flameslinger's ears shot up. "What's up Flame?" Spyro asked, "I think I hear something in trouble!" Flameslinger shouted, he raced towards the sound. Spyro and the others followed him to the edge of a slime pool where a vine-like tail was sticking out, the poor creature was struggling to get out and was losing oxygen fast. Flameslinger and Spyro stuck their arms in the deep muck and pulled the creature out. After that, a happy green-fur covered dog began licking Spyro lovingly, covering him in green slime.

"That's a Glorp hound!" Arbo said, "he can help lead us to the great Willow, there we will find the seeds of life!" The Glorp hound wagged his tail and made these wierd gargle and glurt noises while he barked. "Why don't we name him Glurt?" Flynn suggested, "Flynn don't name it! You'll get attached to it!" Cali yelled at him, but Flynn was to busy enjoying the presence of the dog.

The great Willow was beautiful, but there was a problem, a group of drow had set up defenses around it, drow spearmen were either patrolling the area or flirting with the drow witches. "It looks like the Drow want to steal the life seeds for themselves," said Arbo, "this is not nature's wish, we must get them back, and get them away from this sacred Willow tree." While Arbo was talking, Glurt growled, he obviously knew the Drow were bad news and ran up to the tree barking. "Glurt no!!!" Flynn yelled, but much to everyone's surprise, the Glorp hound held his own against the Drow, manipulating slime and swamp plants. The Drow didn't know what to think of the situation and ran off.

As the awe stricken group walked up to the hound, he wagged his tail. Arbo gently cradled the seeds in his arms as they all headed back to the ship. Flynn grabbed a bowl and wrote Glurt's name on it before taking off again into the wild blue yonder.
