INT. TURNER KITCHEN – LATER

Skye enters. Her dad Nick Turner is cooking dinner.

SKYE

Smells good.

NICK

It's chicken and rice Parmesan. I'm trying out a new recipe for the restaurant.

SKYE

It looks amazing. Also, chicken tenders wouldn't hurt once in a while. Just for future reference.

Her mother Janice Turner enters wearing fitness gear and a big smile.

JANICE

I just got fired from training another client.

SKYE

This is a good thing?

JANICE

It's an excellent thing. It means I've pushed her past her limit. Once she sees the results, she'll come running back. Or limping depending on how quickly she recovers.

SKYE

This is why I'm becoming a lawyer. It's way less complicated.

Logan enters, eyes glued to his tablet.

SKYE (CONT'D)

Can you not get away from the television for one minute?

LOGAN

There's no way I'm missing the season finale of Dude Lightening. It's supposed to be a "shocker."

Nick carries dinner to the table.

NICK

You're going to have to record it for later because it's dinnertime. Devices off.

Janice examines the food.

JANICE

Balanced meal?

NICK

Check.

JANICE

Healthy amount of carbs?

Nick removes one of the breadsticks.

NICK

Check.

JANICE

Bon appétit.

They gather at the table.

SKYE

While I have everyone here, I have some news. I got into the Study Abroad Program. I'm going to London.

None of them look happy for her.

SKYE (CONT'D)

This is the part where you congratulate me. Confetti optional.

LOGAN

You want to move to London?

SKYE

I don't know why you're so surprised. I've been talking about this for months.

LOGAN

I didn't expect you to actually get in.

JANICE

What Logan is trying to say is it's all so sudden. Skye, you're still a kid. How are we supposed to let you just fly off to another country on your own?

NICK

We're proud of you, but we're going to need some time to consider this. Right now, we eat. Skye, it's your turn to say Grace.

They bow their heads.

SKYE

Lord, we thank You for this amazing meal. And I pray that my parents come to their senses and not force me to give up the biggest opportunity of my life. Amen.

She peeks an eye open. Nothing's changed.

SKYE (CONT'D)

I'm not very hungry. May I be excused?

NICK

You may.

Skye exits.

LOGAN

Run!

He startles his parents. He moves the tablet on his lap out of sight.

LOGAN (CONT'D)

I mean, yum.
