Chapter 2
M.P.V
Shortly after I had climbed down into my bedroom, I stood in front of my floor length mirror, buttoning up my jacket. The jacket was a light pink colour with bell sleeves, two rows of black bottons and a small tail. Just over where my heart is under the jacket I had embroidered a floric design to make it unique.
Not that it wasn't already unique I thought as I did up the last button. I had designed the jacket myself out of old clothes that I was to big for, as well as add a bit of technology to it. Hidden in the inside of the sleeve was a pocket containing what I hoped would become a mechanical Yo-Yo. Not just a toy though, for I planned to make it able to support wait and retract at the click of a button.
Currently though, it was more of just a decoration I thought pulling my hair up into two pig tales. There was just something I was missing, and without it I couldn't get the design right. I sighed and grabbed my purse off of my dresser before going down stairs.
"Morning Marinette!" My mom called to me as I descended the stairs. I smiled at the smell of freshly made pancakes as she handed me a plate.
"Morning Mom." I say kissing her on the head before I shoveled pancakes into my mouth. My mom let's out a chuckle as she goes back to preparing for today's work.
My parents are the only bakers left in Aris due to a shortage of wheat a few years back. Most businesses had to close from a lack of customers and didn't have enough money to open again. Thankfully, we have are own garden for growing ingredients, even if it is relatively small. If it wasn't for the garden we would probably be living on the streets.
"I'm leaving with Alya now." I say handing the now empty plate back to my mom. She takes it and drops it gently into the sink.
"Ok, Marinette. Have fun!" She says handing me my lunch for the day. I took it and grabbed my bag off of the table and turned to leave.
"I will! Bye Mom." I said as I opened the door to our apartment. I closed the door behind me as I ran down the stairs. I reached the bottom of the stairs. I quickly turned the corner and lost my balance, my socks slipping across the polished marble floor. I slid into into the bakeries front room, fighting to stay upright.
"Ahh!" I throw my arms out in an attempt to slow myself.
"Woah there!" My dad reaches out and grabs me before a careen into a wall. I wobble for a second before regaining my balance.
"Thanks Papa." I say kissing him on the cheek. He chuckles and hands me my boots.
"Next time, put these on before you come down stairs." He says as I pulled them on. My boots were made of a dark black leather that shined in the light. They went up to my mid calf and were tied with laces. Like my jacket, I had made the boots myself, and installed a mechanism into them that would, if it worked, allow me to jump higher.
"I'll see you later!" I called to my dad as I left the bakery. Alya was waiting for me outside.
"Nice jacket girl!" She said snapping a picture. I blink at the bright light as she lowers her camera away from her face.
"Thanks! We might want too hurry to school though if we're going to catch the bus!" I said as Alya put her camera into her bag. We hurried across the street to the school.
"There you are!" Ms.Bustier, our teacher, remarked as we skidded to a stop in front of the bus. "I was worried you were going to be late again."
"Not this time." Alya said as she hopped up into the mechanical beast. I followed her and climbed inside. The bus was filled with two rows of seats. Each seat was made of a brown leather that was faded from years of use. I sat beside Alya as Ms.Bustier addressed our class.
"Good morning class! Now that everyone is accounted for we will be heading to the engine room for an educational field trip." A series of groans were heard through out the bus.
"Can't we go some where fun this time? If we go on another field trip that doesn't involve fun, I'm going to die." Kim, my classmate, remarks from some where behind me.
"Not this time Kim." Ms.Bustier said letting out a light laugh. I smiled at the mood the filled the bus and watched as the buildings passed by. The shiny silver of other vehicles floating along side the bus reminded me off the mysterios object from earlier. What was it? I thought before I let my mind wander through possibilities.

A knock sounded on my door bringing me back to reality. I pulled my curtains close to cover my open window before shoving my invention into my bag. I jumped into bed and threw the covers over myself as I heard my door click open.
"Adrien, it is time to get up." My father's secretary, Natalie said. I heard the slow click of mechanism as my curtains were opened again.
"Ok. I'll be ready in a minute." I yawned, faining sleepiness. Natalie left shortly after leaving me alone in my room. I threw my covers off of myself and got changed into my clothes for the day.
My outfit, which was hand picked by my father, consisted of a loose, white tailed jacket, over a black shirt with green, yellow, and purple heart embroidered on the pocket. My pants were a deep blue and had pockets installed in the sides. The only part of the outfit my father didn't pick were the bright orange boots that my mother and I had chosen.
I sighed as I brushed my hair into my father's preffered style. Alot had changed since my mother had died. My father worked harder, I had to take more classes, rules became stricter. One thing was for sure, though. I wasn't going to let any of that affect me. It was my life and I was going to live it.
If only I could work up the courage to tell my father that.
