Chapter 10

I jumped out of bed and rushed to the window, only to remember my bag of gadgets. I ran back to my bed and reached under it, sliding out the bag. I quickly checked inside to make sure everything was still there. When I was sure nothing had been removed I slung it over my shoulder.

Next I went to my desk and wrote out a note, before stuffing it into one of my pockets.  I went back to the window, quietly popping it open. I peaked my head out before climbing out and into the tree beside it. I stop for a second to secure the bag, before climbing across the branches over the fence. I landed soundlessly on both feet on the other side of the fence, before running of in the direction of the tower, the crisp night air ruffling my blonde locks.

I arrived at the tower in record time, though I was still very much late. I looked around for Nino, but the square was dark and basked in shadow. I squinted trying to see through the haze, before remembering the goggles from earlier. I reached up and was surprised to find them still on my head. I pulled them down over my eyes and once again the world was bathed in a green light. I looked around the square once more, though it was deserted. I sighed and checked my watch. It now read 11:09. I thought about heading back to my house, but paused when I remembered the note in my pocket.

Determined to get answers, I turned back to the tower and began to climb. I gripped the railing and found myself climbing much faster than usual. Within a few minutes I was at the top grinning at myself. For some reason I had been able to climb the tower in half the time it usually takes, and still have just as much energy left. It was a bit puzzling to be honest, but I had more urgent matters at hand.

I took off the bag, and layed at my feet. I bent over, before pulling out my hovercraft. The finger print was still imprinted on the side. I was careful not to disturb it while I pasted the note to my invention. When I was sure it was properly secured I picked it up.

I held it above my head and pulled on the cord that dangled from its bottom. At first there was no response. I frowned before pulling the cord again, this time a little faster. To my satisfaction it sputtered to life flying up and out of my hands. I crossed my fingers in hope as I watched it soar higher and higher.

M.P.V

I sighed as I leaned on the railing of my balcony. A breeze ruffled through my hair as I stated out into the stars. Though the day had almost passed, something still bothered me. Though my incident with Lila was definitely troubling, there was something else that still irked me. I searched through my memories of today as I chewed on my lip.

I had spwnt most of the afternoon looking after Manon, until she had been picked up shortly after 8:00. Nothing really exciting had happened then, so I ruled that out. I had then eaten dinner before heading up to my room to sketch... Only to remember I had lost my notebook earlier.

Out of all things that could be bothering me, the secret room was one of the most likely. I fingered the earrings I had found there, which we're now secured on my ear. The journal and other notes I had stuffed in my purse currently rested on my desk, ready for tomorrow's inspection. Though my discovery was very close to what was bothering me it wasn't quite it.

"Focus Marinette!" I shook my head regaining my train of thought.  Think... Right. After I had remembered losing my book, I had decided to quickly finish my project, before I completely forgot my design. After hours of working on it I had finally finished my new jacket.

It was a marvelous dark ruby red, with a high collar, two tails and black shoulder pads which had dark veils trailing down the back like wings. I was very proud of how it had turned out, and even prouder of myself for remembering all the details. There was no doubt in my mind that it wasn't perfect.

I scratched my that from my list as I thought harder. Except I had nothing else to think about, as I had now caught up to present moment. There was still something bugging me, and it was start to drive me crazy. Thoughts nagged at the back of my head, but I just couldn't figure out what they were about. Then it hit me. The floating orb thingy.

It wasn't that I had just miraculously remembered it. It was mostly the fact that it flew up into my face. I was stunned for moment before I shook myself back into reality. It was just as I remembered it, with its silver shell glinting in the light of the moon.

Except this time there was a note attached. I squinted in the dark to read it, my eyes widening. It read is anyone up there? I scrambled to grab my pen off the table beside me and right out an answer. I reached out and wrote carefully as it floated in front of me. I finished writing the last letter just as it began to fall, leaving a line trailing upwards.

I watched it disappear back into the clouds as my heart raced with excitement. I could feel, deep inside me that this was that start of something new and exciting.

A.P.V

I was watching the sky intently for any sign of my invention. My heart was racing faster and faster with nervousness and excitement. I spotted it coming back down and I took in a breath, afraid that my theory was incorrect. When it finally drifted back down to me, I caught it and turned it over to find... They had answered my note. Three simple words word scribbled underneath. I am here.
