Chance of Escape

They had been there for an entire day. They knew because Seto's cell had a window where he could see the sun set. They were still there when the sun rose. There was little conversation, mostly they were arguments made by Seto and Harvey, and Sky never said a thing as he sat in his cell. The only time they had any contact with someone aside from themselves was when some squid guards brought them trays of food. Some jeered at them, some never said a thing. The food was disgusting so they didn't even really eat either.

It was mid day on their second day there when the grating of the vents that were above them fell to the ground. A few of them shot to their feet, including Sky, while some stayed sitting on the ground of their cell, staring with wide eyes. A few moments passed before a white bag fell out, landing with a soft thud before falling onto it's side. Mitch gasped as he saw his bow and quiver tumble out, a few arrows falling out along the way. Then someone jumped down, landing on their feet. Husky's eyes widened before he grinned widely.

"Chance!" He whispered as everyone scrambled to their feet, running to the entrances of their cells. Chance smirked at Husky as he walked over to his cell, holding up a pair of keys.

"Come on Husk, you though I'd leave you?" The teenager asked in his deep Russian accent, and Husky smirked.

"For awhile I did! You're lucky you came back, otherwise I would have hunted you down if I got out." Chance snickered before he unlocked Husky's cell, the Mudkip pushing it open as Chance got to unlocking all the other cells. Soon everyone was out of their cells, picking up their weapons from the bag. Deadlox held his daggers close, letting out a soft sigh of relief before putting them in the sheaths on his belt. True spun his katana once before putting it in it's sheath on his back, sighing in relief.

"Fuck this place." Jerome growled as he checked Betty for any nicks, sighing in relief when he saw none. He looked at the others. "So how are we getting out of here?" He asked.

"The vents are probably the best choice." Chance said, and Husky nodded as he looked up at the vent Chance had appeared from.

"We're too weak to even think about trying to fight our way out. Besides, we don't seem to be the best team." He said, glaring at Seto, who glared back fiercely.

"If you fight, I'm slitting your throats." Sky snapped, and Seto fell silent as Husky raised an eyebrow at him. He looked up at the vent, then sighed. "Alright, the shortest one goes first." Instantly, everyone looked at Deadlox. Deadlox stared at them, before he narrowed his eyes.

"Oh hell no." He pointed at Seto. "Let Harry Potter go first." Seto looked at him with confusion.

"Harry Potter?" He asked, and Sky shook his head.

"Ignore him. I'll give you a boost Seto."

"This is such a pain." Derek muttered as he and Alek stood in front of the squid base, staring up at it. "This dinner is such an idiotic idea. So we signed the treaty- What's the point of celebrating? We're going into a war." Alek rolled his eyes as he looked at him.

"Loosen up Derek!" He said. "Cain is being really nice inviting us here! He even said we can bring leftovers back to our clan!" Derek rolled his eyes.

"If he wanted to impress me, he would have invited our entire clan." He said, looking at Alek.

"We house more than thirty people Derek. We can't expect for him to feed that many." Alek said, before the doors suddenly opened. Cain stood there, smiling.

"Derek, Alek! So glad you could make it! Sorry if I made you wait." He said, walking down the stairs quickly. He held his hand out to Derek. "I hope your trip here was safe!" Derek stared at him blankly, and Alek quickly took Cain's hand as he shook it.

"It's very nice to see you Cain." He said, smiling. "It's rare when our kind is invited to things like these, so please forgive Derek's attitude if he seems a bit... Stiff." He said, glaring at Derek out of the corner of his eye. Derek rolled his eyes, crossing his arms.

"Whatever." He muttered, and Cain just laughed.

"Don't worry Alek, I completely understand. Must be hard handling him every day." He teased, and Alek smirked.

"You should see him in the morning." Cain raised an eyebrow as Derek smacked him on the arm angrily. He snickered as they broke the handshake.

"Should I sit you two next to each other?" He asked, smiling.

"It would be appreciated." Derek said gruffly.

"That won't be a problem!" Cain smiled, and Alek returned it.

"Thanks Cain! That means a lot. Derek and I have always been with each other whenever we go, so it's very much appreciated."

"Oh don't worry, I understand what it's like to want to be next to your lover!" Cain smiled, turning and walking up the steps to the front door. Alek froze as his smile fell off his face, and Derek sneered widely. Alek opened his mouth quickly, but Derek grabbed his hand, pulling him close as he wrapped his arm around him. Alek's cheeks burned red.

"Derek!" He hissed.

"Don't worry, love, I've got you." Derek sneered at him, leading them up the stairs.

"Derek, stop it!" Alek growled.

"Let me have my fun, you forced me to come here." Derek hissed back before they entered the castle, the grand doors closing behind them.

There was a lot of muttered curses and hisses of pain and anger as the makeshift team crawled through the tight and small vents, moving carefully but as quickly as they could. Seto was in the front, taking directions from Chance, who was behind him. Apparently he had memorized the layout of the vents through the base. He got a stiff high five from Husky, who was behind him. They must have been crawling for about thirty minutes when Seto suddenly froze, staring down through a grate with wide eyes. Chance skidded to a stop before he ran into him, though that didn't stop True's head from headbutting into Ty's ass.

Ty glared at him, kicking him in the head roughly. "Pervert!" He hissed.

"You think I wanted that to happen?!" The alien snarled back.

"Why did you stop?!" Chance hissed at Seto.

"There's a dinner going on right below us!" Seto whispered panickly. "If we keep going, they'll hear us!" Chance stared at him with wide eyes as Husky glared at him over his shoulder.

"You're fucking with me." He growled, and Seto shook his head quickly. Sky cursed at the back of the line.

"Then we wait for the dinner to be over." He whispered. "We have no other choice."

The dinner was going pleasantly well, Derek saw, though Alek was very pissed at him as he sat beside him. Derek was holding his hand underneath the table, and with how flustered Alek looked he could hardly stop himself from smirking. He had no sort of romantic attraction to his right hand man, considering Alek was straight as hell and had a pregnant wife back at the clan, but it was still fun as hell to do this. He considered it as revenge. What sexuality was Derek? He didn't know, nor did he care. He was just himself. Besides, clan leaders weren't allowed to marry, so what was the point of even thinking about it?

"I have to say, this food is wonderful!" Alek smiled. "We hardly get such great food." The Squid King, who was a man in his years with a head full of silver hair and stormy gray eyes, smiled at him.

"I can only imagine. Are your cooks not that skilled?" He asked.

"Oh, it's not that." Derek said. "It's just we're limited to the food we have in our gardens and the rare animals we're able to hunt. We only have one cook, though she's wonderful. I don't like a few of the foods she makes, mainly because she tends to use corn so much..."

"There are reasons why Derek doesn't cook for his clan, and that's because he doesn't put enough vegetables in meals and the fact that he burns everything he touches." Alek said, smirking at him. Derek rolled his eyes at him.

"Oh please, I'm so great that the smoke alarms cheer me on." He said, and the table erupted in laughter as he smirked. Once the laughter died down, Cain stood, picking up his glass of wine. Everyone looked over at the Commander as he cleared his throat.

"If I may, I would like to make a toast." He said, and everyone stood as they picked up their own glasses. Though everyone had wine, Derek and Alek had water. It was against the rules of their clan for their leaders to drink anything that might make them weak, including sleeping potions or alcohol. Cain smiled. "Here's to the upcoming war and to the future defeat to Sky Does Minecraft." He smirked slightly, before he looked at Derek and Alek. "I know that we'll win this with the help of our new allies, and we can now all sleep easily knowing that the lovely Alek and magnificent Derek helping us protect our people." Alek blushed and Derek smiled slightly. Cain lifted his glass higher. "Here's to many victories and new friends!" And with that, everyone took a drink from their glasses.

Cain was staring at Derek as they drank, and he stopped as he noticed something about Derek's glass. Though, it was really the water inside it. He pulled his glass from his lips, narrowing his eyes before they widened. Something was sparkling inside of Derek's water. Something black. Before he could stop himself he launched forward, tackling Derek to the ground as his glass shattered on the ground. Derek coughed in shock, Alek stumbling back as the leaders shouted in shock. The King's eyes widened. "Cain?!" He shouted as Cain leaped to his feet.

"His water- It's poisoned!" He yelled, and the head doctor of the infirmary ran over. He looked at the water that had fallen onto the floor, and his eyes widened as he saw the black specks. Derek's eyes widened as he pushed himself to his feet.

"What do we do?!" Alek shouted as he saw the doctor's face, knowing it was true.

"It's too late, I already drank it!" Derek snapped, though Cain stepped forward, grabbing Alek's glass and a salt shaker. He unscrewed the cap, dumping the salt into the water before he turned toward Derek. Derek's eyes widened.

"Oh hell no-" He was cut off when Cain forced the glass to his lips, tipping it back. Derek made a choking sound as it slid down his throat, and Cain leap out of the way just in time for Derek to throw up everything he had just eaten, including the poisoned water. He fell to one knee as Alek raced to his side, rubbing his back and pushing his bangs from his face as Derek continued to throw up roughly.

"What the hell is going on?!" Sky hissed as Seto watched this all with wide eyes.

"I-I don't-" Seto was cut off when they all, including the people below them, heard a loud bang from another vent that was right above the table. It was as if someone had slammed their fists down on it. Half a second later the vent collapsed, and a shape fell onto the table roughly, snapping it in half as drinks and food went flying. Chance looked over Seto's shoulder before his eyes widened in horror. He looked back at Husky as they all heard the squids shouting and screaming as weapons were pulled.

"Husky, that's Uncle Ian down there!" Husky's eyes widened, before his eyes went red.

"OH HELL NO!" He shouted before he slammed his own fists down on the vent, and half a second later the whole team was falling onto the table as chaos broke loose in the dining room.
