The sky is gold

Garret was allergic to the spiders webbing. The medics were able to figure it out and saved him. I have never been so happy in my life. I couldn't visit him while he was in the hospital, unfortunately I had stuff I had to do in the field, and I wasn't allowed to leave. He was already out of the hospital and at home with his family by the time we all got back to base. They put him on sick leave for two weeks after he got out. Figured he needed time to adjust from the weird reaction. I don't blame him. He needs some rest. I'm just glad he's okay. It's like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I can't wait to see him when he gets back. Just so I can tell him how sorry I am.

Then there's Agent Fowler. Now I don't really know why we need a special Agent here on base. It's not like we really do anything special here. We do more patrolling the air than anything. Anyway, he has seemed to be lurking more around me. I see him in my peripheral vison a lot more than I used to lately. I'm constantly feeling eyes on me and it's driving me nuts. I'm doing my best to keep to my work and not let it bother me, but all I want to do is turn and ask him what's his problem. I'm also getting tired of being stuck in my office. I wonder if it's because of the spider thing with Garret. Maybe he's on to me. I have no idea.

I haven't been on patrol since we got back about two weeks ago, but today is my day. I can't wait to get up in the air. No one looking over my shoulder. No one lurking around corners watching me. Drake helps me get my prechecks done on my jet and soon I'm off into the sky's. The force of take off has me pushed into the back of my seat. The best feeling in the world. Within seconds I'm high off the ground and above the clouds.

"Woohoo!" I cheer, the feeling of being free.

Even if I'm buckled into the seat and have a mask and helmet on, but I barely even feel it. I still feel free.

"Its clear skies above the clouds." I say in an upbeat voice into my microphone.

"That's nice, Jane." They say back to me from the flight deck.

"Beautiful clear open skies." I continue.

"Jane, if you're not going to report something, don't talk."

"Your no fun." I mumble.

I turn my attention back on my never-ending open air. I sore throughout the sky, bringing my jet up and down and around and around. It feels so good to be up and not behind a stupid desk. I hate that dingy office with a passion. Up in the air is where I belong. I start to begin a spin, forgetting I'm supposed to be patrolling. I come back around, and I see the flash of blue.

A flash of royal blue and a glint of gold. My eyes widen and jaw drops. I can't believe my eyes. I can feel my heart beat start to race. A fluttery feeling seems to grow in my stomach. He brings his jet up close to me, then ahead of me. I close my mouth and push my engines to go faster. I can't take my eyes off his tail end. It's the best tail end I've ever seen. Those rotors and wings, with their perfect angles of projection. The curves of the turbos make my mouth water. It's magnificent. I just want to touch it. He does a spin and drops.

I follow him down and through the clouds, but just like he came. He was gone when I come though. He vanishes. Just like before. He's just gone. I push my thrusters to the max. Trying to catch another glimpse of him.

"No, I can't lose you again." I whimper to myself.

"Please come back."

I keep flying, soring lower. Wait maybe I need to go higher. I quickly get back up, above the clouds.

I groan. "Its no use. He's gone."

I can't believe I lost him. I beat my fist down on the steering wheel and yell out in frustration. This would happen to me. It's karma getting back at me for lying to my superiors. That's got to be what this is. I frown at the thought. Though, I guess I should be happy I got to see another glimpse of him. He's just as gorgeous as I remember, well the jet is. I smile at the thought of the blue hue that seemed to glow off its frame. I hope I get to see it again.

*Team Prime*

"Optimus, Dreadwing has been spotted." Arcee says into her comm. Her and Bumblebee do what they can to keep up with the speeding jets.

"Do not engage unless needed. Keep a close watch." His low voice came back into her audio receptor.

"Yes, Optimus."

With this answer she zooms off after the jets. Bumblebee not to far behind her. They ride through the rough terrain of the desert and racing around trees and rock formations. They watch as the jets keep close and Dreadwing sore around the Lieutenant. Showing off to her. If Arcee was in her bipedal mode, she would have rolled her eyes and groaned at the childish antics Unfortunately, she wasn't. She is trying to keep up with them.

Then they watch as Dreadwing drops from the sky. He falls through the clouds. Janes jet has yet to follow. Just as they see the nose of her jet break through the clouds, a ground bridge opens up in mid sky and Dreadwing flies through. The blue green vortex closes quickly after he is through and when the second jet levels in the air, the royal blue and golden jet is no where to be found. Arcee and Bumblebee watch the other jet circle a few times in the air, clearly looking for her dancing partner, but he is long gone.

"Dreadwing is gone Optimus." Arcee says into her comm link.

"Keep an eye out, make sure she gets back to base." Optimus bellows from the other end. The two race off after the young lieutenant, watching as she continues to look for the Con.

*Janes POV*

I grunt in frustration. Upset that I lost the other jet. Just when I was losing hope of seeing him again. At least I know he's still out there. My mind is in the clouds, but I'm taken out as I hear static coming from my receiver. "

Jane, where are you?" My brows furrow in confusion, but I answer anyway.

"I'm on the same track I was before. Still nothing. I'll be coming back for a landing in five." I answer.

"You went off the charts."

"Well that's weird." I say to myself. "I didn't go anywhere."

"Just get back to base. Something with your tracking might have malfunctioned."

I roll my eyes at the order, but I follow anyway. "Roger that. On my way."

I turn the steering wheel and head back towards base.

I hear my hydraulics hiss as the frame of my jet lets go of the landing gear. Base is in my sights and I prepare for the land. As I hit the ground, I'm tossed up in my seat for a moment, before rolling freely on the tarmac. Not one of my most graceful landings, but a landing none the less and not a crash. I pull up into the base and park my jet. Air releases as I open up my hatch. I take off my mask and helmet. I unbuckle the harness strapping me in and I climb out. I land on the black ground and hand my helmet off to Drake who is waiting for me at the bottom.

"How was it?" He wonders, walking with me.

I can't help but smile wide at him. A smile that starts to hurt my cheeks as it snapped into place.

"Oh no." He doesn't stop the words coming out as he noticed my excitement.

"Oh yes." I say back.

"You didn't."

"Oh I did. And it was as beautiful as ever. It was so exciting. Until he vanished." I pouted.

"And you don't think that's strange that he just shows up, then disappears?" I scoff at his words to me.

"He is more like a angel sent to give me a good time. If he's dangerous, then I'll be just fine being in danger."

"Jane, I think you should say something."

"Its not like he's shooting at me or leading me astray. I don't even know who the guy is. Only that he is an incredible flyer." I sigh in content.

Daydreaming back to the blue and gold flitting across the clouds. I don't have to look at Drake to see him roll his eyes at me.

"When he actually tries to make contact with me. Then I will say something. Until then. I'm staying in my little fantasy." I growl, grabbing my helmet back and storming back into the locker rooms to change.

I hear Drake huff behind me as I walk away, but not following me. Something I'm thankful for once. Why does he have to ruin my moment? I have to see the jet again. I just have too. I slam the door of the locker room against the wall as I go in, making me flinch at how it sounded echoing throughout the showers. I open up my locker on the far end and stuff my helmet inside. Next goes my flight suit and boots. I slip my officer uniform back over my skivvies and tie up my normal work boots. The glimmer and shine of the mysterious jet is still in the back of my mind as I walk back to my office.
