I Will Get Out

I'm sitting on the couch, took me a minute before I decided on that. I'm flipping through channels when I hear vehicles approaching. I stand up and walk over to the railing, leaning my forearms against it. Three vehicles drive in. Two I recognize and one I do not. The sports bike has a young man, possible high schooler, riding on the back. A younger boy jumps out of the yellow and black sports car and then a young girl with pink highlights jumps out of the green, bulky, SUV. These are the same three kids I saw last time I was in here. Again, I wonder why they allow three young kids to be here with these giants.

The children haven't noticed me yet. They continue to talk with the three bots that drove them in. I'm glad they haven't. The one hanging with the green bulky one seems extremely annoying. She has way too much energy, and I don't have time for that. She is going to drive me crazy. It isn't until I hear some beeping that they notice me. I notice the yellow sports car, who is now a bot, pointing a finger at me. Oh boy.

"Wait, isn't that the girl from last time?" The girl asks, also now pointing a finger at me.

"Children, Autobots, you remember Lieutenant Jane. She will be with us when she is not needed at her base." Optimus explains.

"A lieutenant in the Air Force is going to be hanging out here?" The older boy asks with a hip cocked out and his arms crossed. He looks like a spoiled brat with daddy issues.

"Yeah, you got a problem with that?" I snap, standing up straight, crossing my arms as well.

He quickly shy's back, his hands going behind his back and he looks down, "No, not at all ma'am."

I can't help but to smirk. Optimus explains to the children why I will be staying here. They already knew me from the last time I showed up. They also knew about Megratron trying to kill my platoon and I. These kids sure know a lot of what goes on. I'm not sure I like this. They are too young to know this stuff. They shouldn't be caught in a robot war.

"I don't think you got our names last time." The older one announced. I stayed silent, waiting for him to continue. "I'm Jack. This is Raf. And that is Miko."

"Nice to meet you." I said, sending a wave their way.

They wave back, then Miko runs up the stairs. She gets up really close to me and starts speaking. She's speaking so fast; I can't understand her. I have to put my hand up to stop her. She silences and looks at me in confusion.

"I can't understand you." I say slowly. I don't want to be rude, but I can't help it. I don't want to be here.

"Oh!" She exclaims, "I was asking you about your flying. Do you fly a lot? Is that how you met Dreadwing? You think he's nice, why? It doesn't sound like Dreadwing. He's always trying to kill us." She slows down, but I know she didn't ask everything.

"I fly as much as I can. I love to fly and yes that is how I met Dreadwing. He is great. But I didn't know he was an alien until my third or 4th time meeting with him. I thought he was human just like me." I explain.

"I bet you were terrified when you found out. I mean you looked totally confused when you showed up here that first time." Miko says her speech speeding up.

"I was confused, but I wasn't terrified." I say through gritted teeth. She's getting on my nerves.

"I thought it was totally awesome when I first found out. I had to tell Jack to go when he found Arcee. It was great. These guys are absolutely amazing."

"Yeah, that's great. But I really don't care. I just want to go back to my base. I have work to do there." I start to make my way over to the stairs. I need to get out of here.

"Lieutenant, I'm sorry but your orders are to stay here. I'm sure we can find something for you to do while you're here. I'm sure you can help Ratchet." Optimus suggests, looking over to the orange and white bot.

"No, I don't need help." Ratchet growls back.

Silence looms over us for a few moments before I decide to break it.

"So, what do you guys do here?" I wonder aloud.

"Well, we usually work on homework or play video games unless the bots are out on a mission. Sometimes we go with, but only when it's a low-risk mission." The older boy, Jack explains.

"Well, this is going to be a fun day." I mutter to myself.

I have never been so bored in my life. I don't even have my cell phone. So, I can't talk to anymore or play games. I'm still in my uniform. Not that it matters, I can sleep anywhere in this thing. I sit myself on the couch and get ready to take a nap. I've been awake for about an hour since the kids got here. I can't handle listening to them talk about school. Jack is talking about this girl he has a crush on, Raf is talking about an assignment due next tomorrow and Miko is obsessing over some kind of metal band. I am dying of boredom. I lean my head back, ready to close my eyes when an alarm starts going off.

I jump up to get into position, until I realize, I don't know what my position is. I don't have a weapon. I can't attack. The Autobots all rush from their areas to the computer and Ratchet is typing away. The children also rush to the edge of the balcony, so I follow. There is a blinking light on the computer, flying over a map. My first thought is Dreadwing. Though, I have no way of knowing.

"Decepticon and possible energon source." Ratchet calls out.

"Autobots get ready to roll out. Children, Ratchet and the Lieutenant are in charge." Optimus orders.

"Like hell I'm going to stay here." I mutter to myself.

I don't make my move yet. I stay at the top, but I move behind the children. I watch as giant swirling vortex of greens and blues, light up the area. I'm in awe. I've never seen anything like it. This is my chance to see Dreadwing again. I don't know if he's there, but only one way to find out. I must get through that portal. With no one looking at me, all are looking at the screen. I use the stealth I've learned from my military training and head down the stairs. I only move when they are talking or looking away. I wait for them to start going through the vortex. I stay behind and keep a look at the ones behind me.

"LIEUTENANT JANE!!"

I hear Ratchet roar just as I jump through, and the portal closes behind me. I land on the other side on a desert plain. The Autobots in front of me. They have yet to notice me and I see him. I watch him fly in, transform and land with some other robots behind him. The ground shakes as he hits the ground. And an evil grin takes ahold of his facial features. One I've never seen before.
